  • Amazing story, but when every second counts It's sort of funny to see those dumb asses jumping off the wing. I mean who doesn't know that you only get 5-10 minutes in below freezing waters.

  • I can see the flight attendents saying "Please remain seated with your seatbelts fastened until we have come to a stop at the gate."

  • What extraordinary thing did Captain Sullenberger do, exactly, besides his job....?

  • I heard that after this, The U.S. put all birds on their terror watch list. Paranoia.

  • can you imagine if this captain didn't make a series of mistakes? they would have simply made it back to the airport safely anyways and nobody would know who this false hero is.

  • @johnnycanales1 You are a disgusting human being.

  • @johnnycanales1 the captain set the auto thrust to the wrong setting. the jet was capable of making it back to la guardia. but the airlines were on the verge of bankrupsy at the time. and if they had broadcasted the truth, the entire industry could have gone under! it was definately better for the media to make this guy a hero than to broadcast the truth. but some people (like you) believe everything they read and see in the news?

  • probs to that pilot

  • oh americans .. always so patriotic

  • thats why niko bellic kills birds in GTA IV

  • This is why we eat chicken.

  • Pilor: look mom i can swing!

  • @QeXeQ How did you manage to fuck up the word Pilot?

  • homeland

  • there is absolutely nothing easy about what this pilot did. If he botched the angle by just a few degress the plane would have broken apart. he landed this plane with great skill and kept his cool thru out the landing. he deserves a lot of respect for what he did.

  • It's all well and good that all of the people were okay...but how many fish and birds died at Captain Sullenberger's hands??

  • @joepod why the hell do you care about fish and birds over peoples lives?

  • I wonder why some people jumped in the river? Most chose to stand on the wings.

  • @GeoffBlackmore I suppose at the time people were concerned that the plane could blow up at any moment...

  • A good landing is one you walk away from ( or in this case swim away from!! Great job Skipper!

  • Whatever floats your boat...or in this case...whatever floats your...airplane! :D

  • i seen when he landed i thought they would drunk but they maked it

  • that was an easy maneuver. it doesn't take a genius to make that water landing. i don't understand why they went "on tour" to promote their landing. it is one of the first things you learn as a pilot. I should know, I've simulated that over 150 times in training. you might want to call it "basic training" because that's what it is.

  • @gbop63 yes you simulated it at home on your pc maybe! moron!

  • @gbop63 I hope I never have to fly with you at the helm, you cocky so-and-so!! So you could make a similar safe landing in a river?? Yeah yeah yeah!!

  • Scary, terrifying, and apparently just routine for Sully...

  • the people on the wing make it look like a nice sunday outing on the river.....

  • looks like it is taxiing down the river!

  • I love how everybody says this guy is a good pilot when it was basic bullshit that he performed.....to land an aircraft flat in the water is a cakewalk and if anybody thinks otherwise then your fucking autistic.

I took flying classes when I was 21 up till the age of 33 I flew. I used to land planes into the ocean all the time and nobody would even get scared considering they all knew that I was a good pilot

Get off this guys dick when you all know deep down that he has the skill of a mute

  • @iPwNNerdz

dumbass. you might have taken microsoft flight simulator flying lessons for that long, but you obviously have no real flying experience. go play some more WoW, middle earth needs to be saved.

  • @gonavy29 Well said, friend!!

  • @iPwNNerdz you really are a fool. if you really were a pilot you would be saluting your fellow pilot. there is a big diffirence between landing a plane that is designed to land in water and a jumbo jet you complete idiot.

  • @iPwNNerdz Planes do not land in the Ocean there einstein, there are waves in the ocean which prevent this, you might have been a great pilot so that no one would be frightened but, I think your language skills give your intelligence level away, Oh, may the farce be with you commander kirk.

  • @iPwNNerdz Shut your microsoft flight simulator ass.......... you would panic and try to land at the airport but fail and crash into buildings

  • they forgot to add in the wave when the plane hit the water. sorry it would be more than sea-spray and a small wake.

  • To think that all this resulted from a simple miscommunication.

The Co-pilot merely mentioned, off-hand, to the Captain (who was a terrible show-off at the best of times) that, "It's impossible to put a plane into reverse," which the Captain misheard as "rivers."

To think that simple mix-up led to this

  • lmfao

  • This is like jonny-mcskills to everyone for hitting the big ass river- yet some terrorists with limited prop plane experience hit the WTC's...

Does Magneto live in NYC or something?

  • I love how everybody says this guy is a good pilot when it was basic bullshit that he performed.....to land an aircraft flat in the water is a cakewalk and if anybody thinks otherwise then your fucking autistic.

  • @iPwNNerdz If you are 33 years old, why is your Youtube username "iPwNNerdz"? Seriously. You sound like a kid that just completed flight simulator for the first time in his shitty life.

  • Great landing.... You know, there are other people who need to be recognized or that plane would have sunk... The mechanics and engineers who keep these planes airworthy. Being a mechanic is a thankless job to be sure. Aviation is NOT an easy business to be in, pilot, crew, mechanic OR engineer.

  • That pilot is a freaking Hero..

There is probably just a hand full of pilots who would actually be able to pull that landing of..

  • Everytime I watch this video I renew faith in human beings.

  • I think he should have landed a little closer to the banks, or the sides of the Hudson River.

  • @peterelliotpeter i think you should shut the fuck up...

  • @peterelliotpeter lol....

  • like if you thought you were actually going to see the plane land in the river

  • Amazing that he got the plane down in one piece! What a pilot! Most of that type of jetliner with low slung engines would have just broken up on hitting water. He deserves a medal and a pension. A lot more than the bloody bankers do?

  • guess who gets a promotion :)

  • god damn is that even possible :S

  • chuck norris stopped the plane with his mind then gave the pilot the credit

  • rip birds

  • I'm going into the Hudson

    exuse me?

    the hudson

  • Damn birds...

  • Turn the engines on, super speed boat :D

  • amazing pilot! OMG

  • best pilot ever

  • What an amazing landing... Capt. Sully is a HERO he saved over 100 lives... Amazing.

  • It must have been very exhilarating for the people in the airplane.

  • what the heck actually happend to that plane to make it crash land?

  • @isthemirrorballsuit birds went into the engine which caused the engines to stall

  • best landing of the century

  • If this is a security camera how come it didn't catch the acutal landing?

  • appologies for spelling: Capt. Sullenberger

  • I personally believe that the city of N.Y shuould place a lifesize (if not bigger) statue of Capt. Sullenber on the banks of the Hudson where this occured.

There are few pilots who could have performed such a manouvre with such perfection.

    Much respect!!

  • I agree absolutely with you

  • @paganspiritwolf I Agree, This Pilot Deserves Like A Medal Of Honor Or Something, This IS Insane

  • @paganspiritwolf That's not a bad idea. Maybe if we rewarded people more for getting things right, and acknowledged our heroes who became such by rising to the occassion, generations to come would follow that lead. (instead of rewarding drunk hollywood types...) If I have a kid, naming him/her Chesley!

  • @paganspiritwolf I agree

  • @paganspiritwolf and the co pilot did nothing...oh wait he handles the flaps, trying to restart engines, and other flight checks...non pilots believe the news........sad..

  • @paganspiritwolf

"There are few pilots who could have performed such a manouvre with such perfection."

    Not true.

  • @Natvsnat1 Sour grapes

  • @Missleanneiscool

do you know what the saying sour grapes even means? lmao

  • @Natvsnat1 Yes it is the disparagement of something you yourself could never achieve.Which is what you did. So clearly you need to brush up on you word meanings.

  • that pilot is good , that was a perfect crashlanding

  • stupid birds

  • birds

  • the reason why we hunt birds

  • damn birds

  • lucky them!

  • why is it fake? how would u know?

  • I was there swimming in the lake when it happened. It's all CG.

  • uh... the hudson is a river idiot, if u were swimming there u would be dead dumb idiot.

  • yeah really swimming 4 miles in the hudson in the middle of winter? you did catch the part where some passengers got sick lol

  • They are vitamin D and iron deficient.

  • thanks for the commercial assholes

  • well do you think thi one had experience with ditching the plane?

  • The thing that amazes me is that the plane is 100 percent undamaged. If you watch other water landings, the plane usualy breaks in pieces.

  • other videos. Pilots have no experience.

  • the plane didnt break becuase the water was calm if it had allot of waves and stuff the plane would have rocked and broke for sure

  • the angle was right in order to prevent it

  • The great hero of the day was the captain. Perhaps if this plane had a pilot with less experience, the result would be an awful tragedy.

  • i bet that he tryed to make a looping!!!

    XD ROFL XD LOL XD

  • Hero.

  • no wonder,he is air force pilot..salute!!!!

  • Intriguing. For it took the aircraft a few seconds after it touched the surface of the river for it to deploy the chutes. How did it manage to stay afloat during that time? Perhaps the pilot landed at such a perfect angle that it just skimmed the water till the chutes opened up? Extraordinary.

  • probably that the wingspan and the air still inside the aircraft were helping it float.

  • The chutes open up for people to slide down. They deploy manually when the doors open up. The aircraft is bouyant enough to float for a bit until water starts to seap into the cabin and luggage compartments.

  • also the pilot didnt have enough time to close the vents for a water landing

  • is the plane resting on the river bed or floating ?

  • in case of emergency splashdowns the emergency slides can be used as flotation devices.

  • Amazing to see all the people standing on the wing of the plane, not hurt...

  • amazing

  • as a student pilot i can say this is one of my greatest fears. i would imagine the pilot probably thought they were gonna die. amazing skill tho and obvious calm.

  • Well done to the captain and his crew from everyone in England.

  • that is a good pilot

  • imma give u the worlds corniest person award...

  • That really is a miracle, a truly amazing thing. No one Died.. That's incredible!

  • I agree! Imagine the elders and children that were probably on there too! This was a happy ending that touches alot of people

  • Exactly, think about how many people saw there lives flash before there eyes.

  • wow that would be crazy man and i am only almost a teenager

  • that's funny, why did that first guy on wing dive into the water?

  • to go for a swim xD

  • because the wing was voerloading on ppl so he volunteered to go into the water intil the boats came

  • And on your left is the Hudson River. And on your right is...uh, the Hudson too...uh, If anyone's got to take a piss or a shit, now is the time, if you haven't already.

  • hahaha Google adds

    "Flying Lessons from £38"

    hahaha.

  • It amazes me at not only the lack of your intelligence, but also that you write without having the slightest idea of what your talking about. I would try and explain the principles of flight to you but it would be wasted, your too busy rolling another joint. This pilot had seconds to make a decision on what he was going to do. He is an experienced Navy pilot and took the best option he had and without engines! ALL of his passengers walked away, how many of yours would have, you moron.

  • My comment was directed at LaSkiLLyaLL, saw your profile on here...it fits...pick up a book and educate yourself, you write like a three year old.

  • keep on the stupid remarks pilot did his job 100% right saved alot of lives but what would you now about flying topgun!!!!!

  • pilot deserves EVERYTHING HE WANTS!!! Great pilot!

  • great pilot!

  • Omg best pilot !!!

  • The best pilot ever!! LOVE YOU!!!

  • god bless your mom..

  • great pilot

  • Why does the clock say 8 pm? It was in the afternoon, wasn't it? It is pitch dark by 8 pm in January in NYC.

  • how about because the security camera hadn't got the time updated? it wouldn't surprise me.

I mean check your grand father's VCR time and date, is it correct ? ;-)

  • It must have been on GMT time.

  • how dumb could tht be Yank....if the whole airplane is make frm the black box as u suggested, then no airplane ever living off the ground!!! LOL

  • The real praise goes to The Lord! This pilot was in the right place at the right time for a REASON... First of all, these jetliners use engines that are tested for durability: designed to withstand elements, lightning strikes, and birds and still stay operational... the chances for this flight to have both engines fail is remote in the extreme. Combine that with a 40 year veteran well-trained in manuevers and gliding, a liquid emergency "runway"...

  • Comment removed

  • no, the real praise goes to the pilot who took his professional career as a pilot extremely seriously and was properly trained for such a situation. there's no reason to discount any part of this pilot's procedure to some intangible belief of 'a greater power' being the reason for all acts like these. shed that religious security blanket and open your eyes to reality.

also, please check your facts, jet engines are not built to withstand MULTIPLE bird strikes in a matter of seconds.

  • i totaly agree if u heard the blackbox recorded talkings with the control tower u would c how did the piolt replys as if hes goin to save these people not trying tp put them in real danger by accepting the chance to go back to the runway he say im unable i only got the hudson

  • Comment removed

  • ha, good idea! but then again it will probably be way too heavy for it to be able to fly!

  • the black box survives almost every plane crash.. why not make the plane out of that?

  • Very OLD, , joke below...

  • Well done , Captain!

  • Get out of that river plane, you are not a boat... LOL, glad they survived...

  • How could something of this magnitude happen and all you all could discuss is gramatical rubbish and typographical error. My Naija people will say nawa oo we of this generation need to step up on our intelligence quota so we dont loose all our endowment and also have a legacy for our kids. Thank God they were all saved

  • Whatever you have to say....this was amazing...God..technology...luck...skill...all over the above...whatever the reason...it's incredible. Probably couldn't do it twice.

  • Haha, It cracks me up that you started a sentence with 'because'. That is not grammatically correct. Also, even if it was, you didn't use a capital letter. Another thing is that you spelled 'leage' wrong. It's league. Geez. Get a clue...

  • Because a sentence starts with the word "because" does not in any way make it grammatically incorrect. The practice is, however, often connected to the use of incomplete sentences. A big problem with correcting the grammar and spelling others in public is being wrong. Correcting someone and making the same kind of mistake that you're putting them down for makes a person look deservedly like a fool.

  • If you're a teacher, im sorry, but FU C K Y O U!

  • You're sorry all right, and I'm not a teacher, just an English speaker. ;-)

  • Thank u 4 that english lesson i really aprreciated it

  • didnt know dev was applying for a job...moron.....get back to molesting your students, teach....lol

  • 17uhvidz needs to go back to pre-school I think.

Good call on the pilots part there. And some interesting news :D

  • come on guys. the water was freezing and peaceful and it was easier for him to navegate without wind to manouver the plane in the right position. Pro vs luck

  • Ok. He was lucky the conditions were perfect but, if he wasn't as good a pilot as he is, everybody would end up dead.

From the decision of ditching to the actual execution of the splash-land, he showed a lot of nerve and skill.

  • Come on man...first of all, yes you say he was incorrect in calling more than one aircraft "aircraft," when in fact he was right. I don't think you should be speaking about anyone's grammar or spelling, when you have exhibited incompetance in both those areas, with the addition of vocabulary. Here are a couple definitions for you-

  • well the vido proves your wrong

  • Increbible. The only commercial airplane to survive landing in water was a Stratocruiser airplane from Panam in the 50s, flying from Hawai to Los Angeles, and this one. In other cases planes get destroyed after touching water.

  • what about on the movie "Airport 77"

  • That is an amazing video.

  • wtf ur talkin abot ppl r dyin there,,

  • no actually nobody died. i live near here and i saw everything that happened but they saved everybody, noone dies. some people got hurt though...

  • No one died, Everyone made it out alive. The pilot was an ex-Air Force fighter pilot. Her ran up and down the isles to make sure that edveryone was out.

  • Actually he is right, aircraft pluralized is aircraft. I think everyone on youtube should just chill out in general...

  • at :30 Did someone dive into water?

  • jajaja

    yes...

  • aircraft are heavier than air not heavier than water. what the fuck you learned somthing.

  • 17uhvids should google "water displacement"...

  • Any tube filled with air is going to float on water. I mean it was nothing short of amazing with this flight landing in the Hudson, but you had a very experienced pilot who had no choice but to ditch. Any type of landing anywhere else would have led to the death of 155 people.

  • From a flight to a cruise in seconds

  • They will certainly be able to learn a lot from this experience - Gene

  • thats just so unreal and awesome how he did that.

  • I taught him how to land Planes like That.
