  • I'm so old that I may never get used to the facial dramatics being affected by today's performers but he's so handsome that it's pleasing as well as distracting! btw, is it necessary to mike the instrument so closely? The raw edge of the sound is emphasized over the richness of the instrument...

  • enchanting

  • I actually sung this song once and his cello sings it a lot better than I did :O

  • For this there are no words... Perhaps tears of pure delight would be closer to a description? :)

  • his bow transitions are almost invisible, WTFFFF

  • @Amarynthine

Oh my god. His bow changes absolutely DEFY GRAVITY :)

Stjepan, please get your money and fame and whatnot from your 2cellos success and come back to this!!!!! Pleeeeaaaseeeeeee

  • he's so amazing. just so amazing!

  • G.Hauser je svojim muziciranjem na cellu ispričao cijelu priču o suzama i smijehu jedne Rusalke! Milina za moje uši i dušu :)

  • He is "emoting", singing, not moaning or breathing. Why is it that we cannot (some anyway) an artist who is passionate? If this is how one man sings, I cannot imagine how he might love. (But wouldn't some like to?)

  • @dontyoucallmethat i love you.

  • Anyone know where I can get the sheet music for this arrangement? Would love to play it! Thx!

  • Song to the Moon is originally a soprano aria from the opera Rusalka by Dvorak, which story is something similar with The Little Mermaid... just do a search on Youtube and you can find various interpretations by many sopranos around the world.

And this man here, Stjepan Hauser really broke my heart with his interpretation of Song to the Moon on the cello. He sings with his cello... and he sings beautifully. Can it get more beautiful?

  • @conancat Yes! This interpretation is great for cello, which he "sings" beautifully ^ & masterfullly..

  • Buenisimo

  • wow

  • Who dislikes this music? Seriously? Stjepan is a genius!

  • One of the most moving pieces ever....

  • sex? this music is sex!!!

  • his music is absolutely breathtaking, but the moaning makes me feel a bit awkward watching this..

  • @kat1639 - Then just listen!

  • Deslumbrante!

  • Stjepan. I wish you could read this.

If you performed this all around the world, you could truly stop hate and all this war crap going on. Because this stuff--your playing--doesn't care where a person's from, what they look like, their age. It cuts straight to the soul.

You move me-i've literally listened to this on my ipod a thousand times.

  • beautifully done via the cello. Like his expresssions as noted below.

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

I believe that he pours his whole heart and soul into this piece and completely expresses to us what Dvorak would want while continuing to speak to us on a very deep and indivdual level. To say that this was very moving would be a vast understatement. I would have to say that Stjepan and Dvorak have touched my very essence.

  • Truly soul stirring, sensitive, and beautiful beyond words. I'd love to be able to play like that.

  • some good sex he's having

  • Undoubtedly : D

  • Oh I think it's much better than sex!!

  • His cello is so cantabile....marvellous version.

  • Deliciós.

  • I've always loved this song and now I love it even more......a wondrous performance...

I was wondering what the unusual noises were..I thought it was breathing at first but if you watch and listen carefully, you will see that it his fingers moving on the fingerboard

  • Yup, the cello version is more beautiful.

    yup yup

  • wow ... incredible .... will you marry me

  • so much emotion... can u hear his moaning and grunts? thats called musicianship bravo

  • A beautiful treat. Magnificent!

  • 5:15...just magic

  • Orgasmically and beautifully executed!

  • To me, this performance is right up there with Michael Jackson and Elvis. That was absolutely phenomenal.

  • lol this guy is crazy

  • I never heard such a beautiful song ;

    violoncello great geret great!!!

  • Music, real life, culture and emotion.

  • I can hear him breathing o_O

    Gosh! So emotional!

I'm learning playing the cello... When I grow up, I wanna be like Mr. Hauser! *-*

  • I dont think that's him breathing - wonder though if it's not him - it's as he slides his fingers along the fret/whatever it's called - the neck

Thanks for these great films cineman!

  • I think it is him O.o If he transcribed this, he chose to do it on the octave closest to the real thing (he definately could have been one lower) and so he's in thumb postions most of the time and that stuff is painful (to me, at least. I guess he's a LOT more experienced though) DX

  • I think it is him O_O He's in thumb position on A + vibrato = pain. He closes his eyes a lot. I'd be worried about hitting the wrong note TT^TT

  • =, ) damn, it's so nice =, )

  • Beautiful piece and Stjepan Hauser playing.

  • I'm glad that a friend sent me this. String instruments are my favorite orchestral sounds because of their cantabile quality.

Dvorak wrote beautiful music for the voice. The beauty and passion of this piece are attributable not only to the composer's gift for melody but to the extraordinary playing and transcription

skills of Maestro Hauser. He now has a new fan.

  • simply touching....I hope it is possible to find the transcription....

  • I am really addicted to "Hauserian" way of music making..

  • I so want to cry right now...

  • He really has great tone and interpretation. Truly a fine cellist.

  • He looks like Andy Roddick.

    :D

  • How wonderful tonight!

    Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

  • This is absolutely gorgeous!! Thank you so much!

  • Beautiful and courageous playing especially the sotto voce high on the D string!

  • trully amazing

  • What a musician he is!!

I can't stop listening to him!!!
