I'm so old that I may never get used to the facial dramatics being affected by today's performers but he's so handsome that it's pleasing as well as distracting! btw, is it necessary to mike the instrument so closely? The raw edge of the sound is emphasized over the richness of the instrument...
He is "emoting", singing, not moaning or breathing. Why is it that we cannot (some anyway) an artist who is passionate? If this is how one man sings, I cannot imagine how he might love. (But wouldn't some like to?)
Song to the Moon is originally a soprano aria from the opera Rusalka by Dvorak, which story is something similar with The Little Mermaid... just do a search on Youtube and you can find various interpretations by many sopranos around the world.
And this man here, Stjepan Hauser really broke my heart with his interpretation of Song to the Moon on the cello. He sings with his cello... and he sings beautifully. Can it get more beautiful?
If you performed this all around the world, you could truly stop hate and all this war crap going on. Because this stuff--your playing--doesn't care where a person's from, what they look like, their age. It cuts straight to the soul.
You move me-i've literally listened to this on my ipod a thousand times.
I believe that he pours his whole heart and soul into this piece and completely expresses to us what Dvorak would want while continuing to speak to us on a very deep and indivdual level. To say that this was very moving would be a vast understatement. I would have to say that Stjepan and Dvorak have touched my very essence.
I've always loved this song and now I love it even more......a wondrous performance...
I was wondering what the unusual noises were..I thought it was breathing at first but if you watch and listen carefully, you will see that it his fingers moving on the fingerboard
I think it is him O.o If he transcribed this, he chose to do it on the octave closest to the real thing (he definately could have been one lower) and so he's in thumb postions most of the time and that stuff is painful (to me, at least. I guess he's a LOT more experienced though) DX
I'm glad that a friend sent me this. String instruments are my favorite orchestral sounds because of their cantabile quality.

I dont think that's him breathing - wonder though if it's not him - it's as he slides his fingers along the fret/whatever it's called - the neck
Thanks for these great films cineman!

I think it is him O_O He's in thumb position on A + vibrato = pain. He closes his eyes a lot. I'd be worried about hitting the wrong note TT^TT
