The tears just dont stop . im 21 and this song still hits me the most inside. makes me respect what my parents do for me even more . poor simba. RIP mufasa :(
This is another segment that is constantly toned down on soundtracks or wherever it is uploaded, so I am glad to here the whole thing with this video. The beginning is very sinister and then cuts to the whole chase that leads to Mufasa having to rescue Simba...and then to his tragic death where his treacherous brother murders him. :(
You guys, seeing all these comments about the movie in 3D.. Didn't anyone ask you if they were in the right hall, just because they saw a group of 15/16 year old in there? xD Cuz they asked us o.o
The first film I remember seeing in the cinema. I must of been about 2 years old. And I can remember being transfixed by this memorable scene. Long live old Disney! And long live the 90s kids!!
R.I.P Mufasa. :'( I saw it 3D it is unbelievable!!!!!! :D It's worth relieving memories (even though I saw the movie again 1 week prior, but who cares?!). :D
This movie still gives me chills. It has so much power and emotion in every scene, it still brings tears to my eyes when Mufasa dies. This was amazing to see in 3D, and I very strongly suggest that anyone who hasn't gone to see it, go see it when you get the chance.
Of course the whole piece sends me huge shivers, but this moment is just a genius' vocal work. Zimmer know how to make music epic, he uses many progressions, modulations and is a master of orchestral harmony.
I know this is just a film/animation but i get so fuckin emotional over this its unreal, i cry my eyes out like a bitch, i get goosebumps i get angry at scar lol i feel like im part of this film. and i genuinely feel heart broken for simba what the hell happened to disney??
when i was growing i completely let the lion king slip away from my mind except for the begining of zimmers "This Land" and 1:55 to 2:08 of this song. one day i was looking through old movies and i found the lion king i wathced it and i herd the music and was like so thats where those two songs were from. what im trying to say is that no matter how many times you forget the source of music it will always have a lasting impact. ps i hate myself for forgetting this movie
I remember listening to the sdtrk. as a kid on cassette tape (this was one of the songs I listened to most often! Still a Zimmer fan after all these years).
It sounds like all hell broke loose. But aside from a general idea, you can really feel the tension and emotion that this artistic piece of creation is expressing, how Simba feels, so much sympathy for Mufusa, and how much of an a** Scar is.
People call me Mufasa on Xbox live because my gamertag is Mafuni... Apparently people can't read but it is ok. Whenever they call me Mufasa I say in a deep voice, "Remember!"
When I was little I had the soundtrack and listened the HECK OUT OF IT. Now I wonder where it friggen went because I honestly feel the need to rock out to the Lion King music all day every day.
Hans Zimmer did such a good job with this soundtrack, and Inception. but this is better, Inception is so very repetetive. but time is an instant classic :D
Jesus...I can totally imagine a man sitting in an dark, empty room starring at a gun on the table.... and then at 2:21 exactly he reaches for it.... 2:28 and then his hand starts shaking as he brings it up tp his head....2:40 he holds it to his temple, index figer on the trigger .... 2:46 a sudden calm overtakes him and the trembling stops as he steels himself...
O___O SHIT! This score is amazing it just evokes so so so so much different emotions at one time
any one else hear the reallyyyyy short little pirates of the caribbean theme starting at :43 or so? maybe played by a trombone of french horn? oh hans zimmer, you clever dog <33
You should listen to "The Battle" from the Gladiator soundtrack, starting almost 6 minutes into it. The resemblance is so strong, I am amazed there weren't any legal issues!
Just keep in mind that Pirates of the Caribbean was created AFTER the Lion King and Gladiator. So you can't really say it's the PotC theme being snuck into these soundtracks-- because it's actually the other way around...
@FantasyMusicFan also remember that every score that you mentioned was done by Hans Zimmer. Almost any score he creates resembles one another. and points in this i can hear Crimson Tide. If you compare Pearl Harbor to Pirates of the Caribbean, its almost a spot on match at the beginning
@jck1794 I know-- what I mean is, if I were a movie director, I would be pissed if I had paid for a composer to make a unique soundtrack for my movie, only to discover that they used the exact same theme in someone else's movie later on. Soundtracks are more important than people realize; composers have to be careful to respect each movie by keeping their musical themes separate.
I love Zimmer's music, don't get me wrong-- but if I were making a movie, I would never hire him to do the score.
@FantasyMusicFan you wouldn't? man, he'd be my first choice :P then probably either James Newton Howard or James Horner...out of curiosity though, who would be your go-to man?
James Newton Howard is my absolute favorite, and would be my first choice if I ever made a movie. I love the softness of his music, and he is flexible to match the style of each movie he writes for.
I'd also pick Alan Menken, Thomas Newman, Steve Jablonsky, or maybe Edward Shearmur. There are so many great composers out there!
As much as I love the music of Hans Zimmer, James Horner, John Williams, and Danny Elfman, their music gets repetitive after a while. Just my opinion :)
@FantasyMusicFan yeah I can see where you're coming from. Zimmer does have a lotta similarities in his work, but I like that. Williams is incredible, but he's too....generic..or old-school might be a better term. I share your love for Howard (King Kong, I Am Legend, Avatar: The Last Airbender, etc are amazing) but he still comes second to Hans for me :)
@iamcaboose1 "am i not merciful" from gladiator is even more dramatic and passionate than this. although a lot of that is lifted from wagners 'gotterdammerung'
One of the best pieces of movie music score ever. It tells a story in itself. My favourite part is 2:32. You can practically hear Mufasa's desperation!
