The UK have some great kit our new carriers, even though they should be nuke powered will be amazing. The Type 45's are in a level of their own. The Astute subs also, and the Taranis UAV's not to mention we have Amazing people. Ah, as I said you haven't though this through. Now then, the Falklands were uninhabited when the Falkland Islanders landed there, as e.g. the US when the forefathers of the Native Americans arrived. Thus the Falklanders are as "native" as you are (if you really are a native american). The only "settlers" in this equation are the Argentines, who settled in a land which was already inhabited and nearly wiped out the original inhabitants. Have another think.

HMS Invinsible was not even damaged she returned to Portsmouth after the war and sailed past people with no chunks missing- if she had been damaged we would have noticed. All of the ships that were damaged were fixed and continued to serve...

But how many of these are actually operative these days? They are decades beyond their best before date. Recruiting is down, training is down, funding is down, serviceability is down. The post junta governments have given it to the armed forces pretty rough by starving its budget and foregoing new equipment, upgrades and modernization. Maybe to the point where Argentina now is better off just dismantling its armed forces and replacing them with a reinforced Border Patrol and Coast Guard?

@alikos88 We are getting 6 (45's), they planned 12.The TYPE 45 is the best destroyer in the world, you dont need that many to take out WW2 ships, or Taliban we use Astute subs for that or jets.They say 1 x TYPE 45 = 5 Type 42's they replace.
They are building the second carrier, it was a suggestion they may not but the 2nd carrier HMS Prince of Wales started in May 2011 it will have the American EMALS system only the 2nd ship to have this, so you are out of date on this news.

Ah, as I said you haven't though this through. Now then, the Falklands were uninhabited when the Falkland Islanders landed there, as e.g. the US when the forefathers of the Native Americans arrived. Thus the Falklanders are as "native" as you are (if you really are a native american). The only "settlers" in this equation are the Argentines, who settled in a land which was already inhabited and nearly wiped out the original inhabitants. Have another think.

Is this about oil? Maybe. But Argentina has plenty of its own oil fields.

HMS Invinsible was not even damaged she returned to Portsmouth after the war and sailed past people with no chunks missing- if she had been damaged we would have noticed. All of the ships that were damaged were fixed and continued to serve...
