Hi. I make less then the average in the US. I also, at year end, pay about 15% in taxes, and about 21% after SS, medicare, ect. is taken out as well. I guess I don't see how it is possible that I can make less then most people and pay taxes, but half of America not pay taxes if they make more then me.
If someone could explain to me how I can be part of the 50% who pay, but below the 50% of income in this country. It seems like if I make enough to pay, then the average should be less.

What entitlements do I get? Seriously, I work 40, 50, 60 hours a week and the more I pay, the more we seem to bomb some country I have no problem with. Meanwhile, the elderly, the poor, and those who cannot care for themselves are being left to their own devices. This is easy... his statement that many "tax payors .... pay .. NO tax" was an illustration of the irony of this system. It is true that all citizens over the age of 18 , employed are responsible to pay SS. medicare tax, BUT here is a point, many Americans receive what is called an "Earned income credit", which is money they receive for nothing else but having children. That often negates any payment and results in a net profit or welfare check from the TRUE tax payers. 2 easy!!

I have been screaming for a temporary tax increase for the longest time. Increasing taxes on a temporary basis would force those who hold all the income to reinvest or lose it. Reinvestment creates jobs, but the myth that low taxes will give them income to invest is a fallacy. Untaxed income doesn't end up as capital outlays, it just ends up aggrandizing the rich more than they already are. With great wealth comes great responsibility!

When a Gov service in privatized the cost of service always rises to account for profits from a service originally not set up to be profitable. Gov always subsidize services that have been privatized. Taxpayers cover the profits. Power for example requires Gov money to create more generation capacity. We where told when the power generating was sold that they would cover those cost. but they don't and we still pay twice. Big corp profit are all subsidize by taxes

The reason why Greece as well as the rest of the European Union is in trouble is bc of the economic theory known as Keynesian economics. Its the idea that the private sector cannot produce efficient outcomes and that the government must step in to provide those outcomes. I do want to point out an error on your part, i.e. medicare taxes are not "biased" in favor of the rich as are social security taxes. While the 6.2% social security tax applies only to the first $106,500 dollars per year of income, there is no limit on the income which is subject to the medicare payroll tax.

If there is any responsibility they have in their eyes (or Rupert Murdoch's eyes) is to provide gains to their shareholders.

Hi. I make less then the average in the US. I also, at year end, pay about 15% in taxes, and about 21% after SS, medicare, ect. is taken out as well. I guess I don't see how it is possible that I can make less then most people and pay taxes, but half of America not pay taxes if they make more then me.
If someone could explain to me how I can be part of the 50% who pay, but below the 50% of income in this country. It seems like if I make enough to pay, then the average should be less.

@monokhem read again i said except for sale tax, but yes on everything else if you don't make enough to buy a home can't pay property tax another sales tax except gas, tobacco and alcohol is on the state. Some state do have income tax. The figures he points out do come from the census and IRS records.

So John Hoening was and is right. i' not wrong even from the IRS and CBO show that top 10% pay 40 to 50% and 40% pay the rest 50% don't even pay taxes so how can you say they not doing their contribution.

look at norway = highest median income - number 1 in education- no poverty - free health care- more patents per capita - almost no crime-2nd in women elected (sweden1us66)- people live better in prison there than most of our lower middle class and poor - they refuse to send prisoners to the united states - not just because of the death penalty but because its in humane - we would all be better off with socialism - that said there's a better solution to our problems -the resource based economy

What entitlements do I get? Seriously, I work 40, 50, 60 hours a week and the more I pay, the more we seem to bomb some country I have no problem with. Meanwhile, the elderly, the poor, and those who cannot care for themselves are being left to their own devices. I don't mind helping those less fortunate than myself, but I hate to pay my taxes and see it go to the ultra-rich and the death merchants.

This is easy... his statement that many "tax payors .... pay .. NO tax" was an illustration of the irony of this system. It is true that all citizens over the age of 18 , employed are responsible to pay SS. medicare tax, BUT here is a point, many Americans receive what is called an "Earned income credit", which is money they receive for nothing else but having children. That often negates any payment and results in a net profit or welfare check from the TRUE tax payers. 2 easy!!

I have been screaming for a temporary tax increase for the longest time. Increasing taxes on a temporary basis would force those who hold all the income to reinvest or lose it. Reinvestment creates jobs, but the myth that low taxes will give them income to invest is a fallacy. Untaxed income doesn't end up as capital outlays, it just ends up aggrandizing the rich more than they already are. With great wealth comes great responsibility!

Social security certainly does not favor the rich. What is paid out from social security to what is invested by the rich is pathetic. The poorer people who pay in far less to social security get much better pay-outs comparatively.

When a Gov service in privatized the cost of service always rises to account for profits from a service originally not set up to be profitable. Gov always subsidize services that have been privatized. Taxpayers cover the profits. Power for example requires Gov money to create more generation capacity. We where told when the power generating was sold that they would cover those cost. but they don't and we still pay twice. Big corp profit are all subsidize by taxes

I'm going to give Fox a half right on this one, the growth of entitlements and associated bureaucracy has been excessive. On the other hand the tax structure ie Bush tax cuts are what is driving the deficit and disincentive to invest.

The reason why Greece as well as the rest of the European Union is in trouble is bc of the economic theory known as Keynesian economics. Its the idea that the private sector cannot produce efficient outcomes and that the government must step in to provide those outcomes. FDR used this economic theory which prolonged the Great Depression. Barack Obama & the Democratic Party itself is also a big fan of this economic theory. This theory doesnt work, as Europe is proving.

The health insurance mandate I condemn to hell (as should anyone with a brain), but there is really nothing that I've seen or read about in history that is an unconstitutional handout.
And by that same reasoning, I can say that the tax cuts by conservatives (not just by Dubya, but by his daddy, Reagan, Ford, etc.) are the biggest unconstitutional handouts in America history.

Tax cuts are not unconstitutional as long as they go through congress. Im glad you aren't being an idiot like many people on here are. Senate has the power of taxation, the president doesn't. That being said tax cuts don't do much because with it something else is raised or done. Tax cuts are used to distract people.

US Post Office, paved streets or freeways, public schools, medicare, social security, state universities, college sports, public transportation, public restrooms, labor laws, clean air, and a shit load more than that. If you don't like paying taxes, don't make use or expect any of these things I have just listed (plus a load more that I haven't, look what it all pays for).

Lib Viewer says the bottom 36% of taxpayers pay for entitlements through federal withholding -which is income tax, which they don't pay. Doesn't make sense, does it. He also says income above 100k is not taxed for Social Security. There is a maximum benefit up to 100k -there is no SS benefit for income above that so there is no tax. What is hard to understand about that? Lib Viewer misleads again.

The fallacy of your presentation is that you view Fox News as a news source. If you mispronounce the french word, it is really faux news.
I do want to point out an error on your part, i.e. medicare taxes are not "biased" in favor of the rich as are social security taxes. While the 6.2% social security tax applies only to the first $106,500 dollars per year of income, there is no limit on the income which is subject to the medicare payroll tax.

FOX news' responsibility? C'mon, these guys have no responsibility because what they're spewing is not news but rather an agenda they have to protect the right and smear the left. If there is any responsibility they have in their eyes (or Rupert Murdoch's eyes) is to provide gains to their shareholders.
The only way FOX or any real news organization can truly be responsible is if they were a non for profit. As long as profits rule, responsibility to the public fails to be of any importance.

NPR is painfully liberal in most respects, and even moreso internally.. What's even worse, is that they actually have the nerve to mislead people by presenting themselves as "privately" funded and NOT advertising the fact that they DO take public money (very similar to welfare). As far as FOX news, like them or not, Nielsen ratings show the vast majority of Americans watch FOX news. Not just the "majority", but the VAST majority of Americans place FOX News in the number one overall CN slot.

If I received $200 million from yet another, almost entirely government funded steward (CPB), I would certainly not call myself "privately supported." Again, that would be misleading. In addition, NPR was CREATED by the government, signed into effect by LBJ (Democrat) and historically funded by the government. Without government funding NPR would not even exist. NPR and PBS publish their financing info online to anyone that cares to look, so if people misconceive the word private to mean "we take no public money", thats their own fault. #2) Haha.
