£500,000 question gave him away. Rewatching the run, it is very difficult to detect cheating up until then: with the exception on the £32,000 question, all his "first instincts" proved to be correct.

Ironically, the one thing that gave it away, which seemed to be lacking on the other questions he answered, was his self-confidence with Berlin. He had a normal thought process deducing Berlin just from the name. However, to change it and pick Paris out of nowhere, is extremely odd.
