there is a way however how you can delete your save file on Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D, though you can't do it with the game alone. you need a device called "NDS Adaptor Plus". it is capable of backing up your save file to your computer or deleting your save file, your choice. however this costs money and from what i've heard it's about 20$. then again buying a device you'll probably just use once sounds kind of stupid. oh and i bet AlphaOmegaSin is glad that he's able to play as Barry :D
Mercs 3DS was a pretty bad game in general. The gameplay is fun and solid and everything, but the thing is they could've done so much better. Only 8 characters? What the fuck is that about? No Leon or Ada was fucking rediculous. They could've put every mercs character in if they wanted to, but they chose to put in 8. And Barry's alt costume is fucking retarded.

I was sooo looking forward to this game... But after hearing so many mixed reviews... Bad graphics, unerasable save and not much content...

Dude, you can erase the save data of Mercenaries if the save data becomes corrupted and therefore, start the game over from scratch... but Capcom should have given that option from the beginning anyway, regardless. Maybe this is an experiment to them to test us and see how the fans react to something like this... or it was just a foolish decision with no thought whatsoever...
IF my reasoning is correct about WHY Capcom is disallowing us to erase our own save files, then I'd say it's a pretty greedy move on their part- they did it ONLY to make more money.
...But this doesn't affect me, personally.
I bought the game at full-price and it's awesome- I don't ever plan on selling it anyway, so I would never WANT to erase my save data.
I don't regret buying it for a second.
And that's why I'm not nearly as pissed off about it as I used to be.
Getting back to the 1 save file that you can NEVER (presumably) erase...
Keeping in mind that this game really does feel like an arcade game, the only reason you would ever want to erase your save file would be to LOSE all of your scores and character/perk unlocks.
...Personally, the only reason I would ever do that is if I had bought the game pre-owned.
I'm guessing that the real reason why the developers did what they did was to stop people from buying/selling this game, pre-owned.
Better yet, it's a game that you can pick up and play for 5-10 minutes at a time whenever you want (I think that's what the RE developers meant by it having an "arcade feel," which I would agree with). I like that because there aren't THAT many great 1st party handheld titles like that.
Having said all that, I feel like the game was a little overpriced, but it's a hell of a lot of fun. If you loved mercenaries on RE4 or 5, this game won't let you down.
I had more or less the same reaction to this news, too... and then I bought it and played it.
The game really IS like an arcade game in the sense that it has no story- it's basically just a bunch of "missions" (mercenaries matches) that you can play.
You can go back and replay ANY of the previous missions at any time (before, I was under the impression that you COULDN'T do that).
There are 8 characters to choose from, about a dozen (or so) maps, and a lot of individual missions.
@jettythesunfish Plus with pokemon you can go through the entire game without saving. That's really when sleep mode on the DS really comes in handy lol.
If they really wanted to stop the used gaming market, why would they release a game on a system that's not selling all that well... Besides, this isn't the only 3DS game that can't save.
Ok, so look. this is what i think. They don't get any money if the game is bought used, from gamestop or some other such place, so they make it where if someone wants to play the game, they have to buy it from a store, where the company makes money. It's just corporate greed.

This was to get rid of used game sales. You now see how many companies are using the online passes to screw with the retailers. While no one is in the right in this situation, as the retailers rip you the fuck off for your contribution to their inventory, in the end it is the gamer that gets screwed. @badams2190 In terms of the save file thing, yeah, Nintendo does have some culpability there, too, as they approved the game for release with the feature in place, just like when the 3DS games Super Monkey Ball 3D, Blazblue Continuum Shift 2 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 did it. Seeing how Nintendo has the power to dictate what's OK on their systems, their silence in all these cases is troublesome. Yeah, Capcom, Sega, Konami and Aksys tried to pull this, but Nintendo could have stopped them.

Dude, you can erase the save data of Mercenaries if the save data becomes corrupted and therefore, start the game over from scratch... but Capcom should have given that option from the beginning anyway, regardless. Maybe this is an experiment to them to test us and see how the fans react to something like this... or it was just a foolish decision with no thought whatsoever...

IF my reasoning is correct about WHY Capcom is disallowing us to erase our own save files, then I'd say it's a pretty greedy move on their part- they did it ONLY to make more money.
...But this doesn't affect me, personally.
I bought the game at full-price and it's awesome- I don't ever plan on selling it anyway, so I would never WANT to erase my save data.
I don't regret buying it for a second.
And that's why I'm not nearly as pissed off about it as I used to be.

Getting back to the 1 save file that you can NEVER (presumably) erase...
Keeping in mind that this game really does feel like an arcade game, the only reason you would ever want to erase your save file would be to LOSE all of your scores and character/perk unlocks.
...Personally, the only reason I would ever do that is if I had bought the game pre-owned.
I'm guessing that the real reason why the developers did what they did was to stop people from buying/selling this game, pre-owned.

Better yet, it's a game that you can pick up and play for 5-10 minutes at a time whenever you want (I think that's what the RE developers meant by it having an "arcade feel," which I would agree with). I like that because there aren't THAT many great 1st party handheld titles like that.
Having said all that, I feel like the game was a little overpriced, but it's a hell of a lot of fun. If you loved mercenaries on RE4 or 5, this game won't let you down.

I had more or less the same reaction to this news, too... and then I bought it and played it.
The game really IS like an arcade game in the sense that it has no story- it's basically just a bunch of "missions" (mercenaries matches) that you can play.
You can go back and replay ANY of the previous missions at any time (before, I was under the impression that you COULDN'T do that).
There are 8 characters to choose from, about a dozen (or so) maps, and a lot of individual missions.

The game is based off of mercinaries mode which is an arcade shooter and after you complete a level, you can still play the level and get a higher score... This was to get rid of used game sales. You now see how many companies are using the online passes to screw with the retailers. While no one is in the right in this situation, as the retailers rip you the fuck off for your contribution to their inventory, in the end it is the gamer that gets screwed. Just look at how this is going to end. Not only will those who want to purchase used games because of financial reasons and such get screwed, but retailers will still rip you off too.

Its only a matter of time, if it already hasn't happened already, that games will have extra DLC you will have to buy in order to get the true ending of a specified game as well as other horrible things.

@badams2190 In terms of the save file thing, yeah, Nintendo does have some culpability there, too, as they approved the game for release with the feature in place, just like when the 3DS games Super Monkey Ball 3D, Blazblue Continuum Shift 2 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 did it. Seeing how Nintendo has the power to dictate what's OK on their systems, their silence in all these cases is troublesome. Yeah, Capcom, Sega, Konami and Aksys tried to pull this, but Nintendo could have stopped them.

I cant even back up all 3 TimeSplitters games or the Mortal Kombat games (not including Shaolin Monks) from my 8MB PS2 memory card to a 32MB. I don't play Capcom's games anymore ever since they fucked up RE. After playing RE4 I said "thats it RE is dead". Don't get me wrong I thought that the game play was interesting even though I am a purist when it comes to RE. So the game play in RE4 was a love and hate relationship. Besides that, everything else sucked. The story, characters and the enemy's, I was like WTF in a bad way. I knew they were going with this for RE 5 but worse and I was right. Bust a Cap in their Com Alpha lol.
