I've only heard this by Curtis Mayfield (which I love) until now. The Persuasions however, did a awesome job. I would never have thought that this song could be done acapella, and still come together so well. Glad I stumbled across this! For those of you, who have not heard the original....you gotta check it out.
Just found this version- Introduced to Curtis Mayfiend etc while in small college in Iowa Central College and a bunch of guys in the dorm singing like this- yesback in 1966... NYC 'S Lary Cohen, Winston snake Ship, Chicago area Ozziobinsn and Shaun Miller called themselves the :Innovatios.. sang when the bands tooka break--- fun times TS
You can find the original 1963 recording by Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions. The title just says "Gypsy Woman". The poster left the artist off. It has a black&white picture with 3 guys . Curtis wrote the song.
Saw them live at the Ash Grove on Melrose Ave in 1972. Absolutely phenomenal and brought down the HOUSE! Gave me goosebumps then, and still alfter all these years. No one comes close! No one.

This clip has nothing to do with Wu Tang Clan - but Wu Tang did rip them off by sampling this song with one of their own titled "Campfire" Shame on the clan!
@CarnalSalvation so you're saying that hip hop owes itself to the genius of Brian Wilson who was sampling in the mid 60s? in fact he and phil spector are the pioneers of sampling. btw rap sucks goat testicles.
@denniswilsonfan people hate what they do not understand...the question is could you even understand rap if you tried? perhaps we'll never know. a closed mind is a wasted one.
They didnt rip them off, like carnalsalvation said,it was a legal sample, that sample shows you what the RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan listens to,it shows he has great taste
I Love this version I used to sing along with this album when I was a kid with my brothers. Talk about an awesome training course.

My only comment is that the 3 people that like this song, just don't know real music.

A reasonably good version. I still like Brian Hyland's the best.

Brian Hyland's version is awful compared to this. You must be tone deaf and brain dead.

Uhm...sampling is a fundamental element of hip-hop...they did'nt rimp them off...the sample was cleared legally. Get over it.
