No, I concede that Jesus was probably a real person. I stress PERSON!

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Wow, if the antichrist is a liar, then I guess Jesus is the antichrist.
That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie,
I suppose you think that there is no God when a preacher or religious man sins; then you'd say "See that man is a sinner so there is no God" But your logic is faulty.

I bet you couldn't even move a house with your "faith", let alone a mountain. Jesus said himself, YOUR GOD, that all you have to do is have faith and doubt not. Apparently, you fall short.
Matthew 18:19-20 - Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.
LIAR!!! Pray with two of your friends for world peace, and see if it comes true.
It is not impossible with God who spoke the world into existence. Or maybe you are too scared to open up to the spiritual realm. I have seen the spiritual realm. While in denial of what I was looking at, I ran my hand through a demons face as five other people fell to the floor screaming and crying. I tried to figure out why it looked so real and alive until I saw this thing turn and look me in the eye. I can not deny that the spiritual realm is real. You and others should open up to God, pray.
"It is not impossible with God who spoke the world into existence" - You ever think that it didn't happen, and that the bible is just a bullshit story written by men?
"my hand through a demons face as five other people fell to the floor" - Wow, I want some of what you were smoking. You can be spiritual without being religious. I'm more tuned in with Earth and nature and reality than you. This little story also doesn't validate Christianity. & you ever think that maybe you're just insane?
1 John 2:22 Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
The term antichrist in the bible is in lower case, an adjective describing, not in upper case as a noun, a name, "Antichrist". The term antichrist was made up by John to describe People who believed in God but not in Jesus as the Messiah. Therefore John termed the man who believed in God but denied Christ as being against Christ, anti-Christ, antichrist.
2 John 1:7(as above)Many liars do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh-Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist."

I never understood the logic of the story in Genesis. If the snake was actually Satan in disguise, why did the Hebrew deity punish and condemn all snakes for what Satan did? Why did the deity address the snake as a snake and not as Satan? I've never seen or had an answer to this question.
The short answer is because the story never happened, and the bible is a fairy tale written by primitive people, who didn't even know the Earth revolved around the Sun yet.
Not all Christians accept the 6000 year old earth and you cannot understand the complexity of God's creation process."We" is the trinity or the royal "we"-which is how a king talks
- Then you're not listening to your own bible. Just because you're able to delude yourself more, doesn't mean the bible's more correct. Isn't it funny how subjective God's "perfect" word is? You'd think a "supreme" being would've been a little more clear so that ALL Christians could agree on something. But yet there's jews, catholics, evangelicals, lutherans, protestants, Jehovas witnesses...etc. etc. lol. "God's" word sure is ambiguous, aye?
Awesome. Prove that the bible is true then. Since you "know the truth". Explain Moon craters, and the speed of light, and dinosaurs, and tectonic shift, and the ice age, all the bible contradictions, Noah's Ark, the Epic of Gilgamesh, and about a million more pieces of evidence against YOUR bible. Seriously, I've heard it all before, and they've all already been refuted CONSTANTLY, but I could use another laugh from you Christians.
You want proof the bible is true. The bible has over 2000 fulfilled prophecies.
Many of these are so specific that the chance of fulfilling them was infinitesimally small.A study on 13 biblical prophecies showed the prophecies in the bible had a better track record than the 2nd law of thermodynamics
"prophecy" is subjective. So did Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce. In fact, Cayce was MUCH better than the bible.
I'm gonna make a prophecy too. I prophesize that the twin towers will be attacked. Now all's I gotta do is write a book saying that I prophecized it before hand and presto, I'm a prophet.
But the prophecies of Nostrodamus are very vague. The biblical prophets were able to prophecy the exact place of birth of the messiah, narrate incidents in his life, the exact year he began his ministry, the exact price he was sold for,the exact date of the ascension of Elijah and so on
Jesus was probably a real guy that they built a story around. Playing pin the tail on the savior doesn't mean anything. They also thought John the Baptist was the messiah. There were also messiah's after Jesus. Lots of them were walking around. Apollonius of Tyanna was another alleged person to have the same "powers" as Jesus. Was he a "messiah" too?
You seem to have completely missed Phil's point- just because an event was written of unimaginably (for you) long ago, does not mean it was written of before the event took place.
Ummm, no. Don't know who or what apologetics is, but Read the gospels side by side and tell me there's no contradictions. Did Jesus go to the wilderness for 40 days after his baptism, or did he go to a wedding? How and where did he meet Peter? Who was Joseph's father? Why two different creation stories? Did Jesus bear his own cross? How many angels appeared at the sepulchre? What were Jesus' instructions to his disciples? Did the passover meal take place before or after the crucifixion? etc. etc
Apologetics are minsters who seek to defend Christianity. If you look up "biblical contradictions cleared up" or biblical contradictions explained you can see their answers to all these questions.
Okay, so all of their arguments were "this is PROBABLY what they meant", or "the writers heard the wrong thing" or "the writers didn't know what they were writing". This still means there are contradictions in the bible. Your listenind to the drivel writings of dumb primitive people who couldn't get their shit together. Maybe they should have payed closer attention to the alleged GREATEST thing to ever happen to humanity and a history of our species. I think I would have made sure of the details
Well I mean they are human and make little mistakes. However the same general message that Jesus taught is there and they all agree that he is the only way to eternal life
Yeah, the same "general" message. Even though they couldn't even tell if Jesus was killed after or before the passover? If he ran into the wilderness for 40 days or went to a wedding? What it said on the cross. How many angels appeared? What his instructions were to his disciples? This is supposedly the SON OF THE ONLY FUCKING GOD!!! yet they're totally clueless??? Devine happenings are going on!!! I would have remembered and wrote down EVERYTHING if I were talking to God!
kabanetheChristian made an excellent video in his response to theAmazingatheist addressing the apparent contradictions in the gospels and how they are not contradictory at all.
also watch Kabanethechristian's videos on the resurrection of jesus and how it is historically attested
Because you're full of shit. Your bible CLEARLY lays out the geneology of the entire Earth in it. You deny your own bible because you still have 1% of brain left activated. Just because you're able to delude yourself to some bullshit and not others doesn't make your bible true. Your bible also says that the Earth was made before all the stars in the universe. Your bible is wrong and retarded, and if you believe in, you are also wrong and retarded.
The thing people ignore is how the Hebrews recorded geneologies."begat" does not necessarily mean father-son but it could mean great-grandfather-son.Bluntly put there are gaps. And the word used in the bible "yom" can signify an indefinite period of time as well as a day
"Gaps" are even worse, because then they don't match up with history. ie Moses and the Egyptians. That still doesn't explain why the stars were created after the Earth. Why there are two different creation stories. Where dinosaurs fit in. Or the other two mass extinctions before the dinosaurs. Or how the dinosaurs went extinct. Was woman created with man or from his...(sigh) rib. Did animals come first or man? You believe in magical fruit? God talks to people, but doesn't know where they hide?
A global flood would also mean that animals and people of all kinds would be on the same layer of Earth. Which it's not. We've only had recorded history for the last 8 or 9 thousand years or so (if that) yet you say that gaps and all, people knew the entire history of the human race?
"We've only had recorded history for the last 8 or 9 thousand years or so (if that) yet you say that gaps and all, people knew the entire history of the human race?"
And the OBVIOUS answer is that God doesn't know shit. "God told them" lol. wow, you Christians sure are adorable. Believing that bullshit that people made up 2,000 years ago, yet denying al the other religious bullshit that came BEFORE Christianity. God gave two entirely different creations stories! LOL!!! "God told them" hahahaha!!! (sigh)
Then if God's so "talkative" and likes getting involved with humans apparently, then where has he been for the last 2,000 years? Ran out of people to kill?
"Then if God's so "talkative" and likes getting involved with humans apparently, then where has he been for the last 2,000 years"-
I know several people who have been healed had their prayers answered and speak in tongues and have had miracles occur to them.GOD IS STILL SPEAKING TODAY.Just because you have not had an experience does not mean noone else has
And about the different sect-these are just differences in worship practises and rituals. However all agree that Jesus is the only way to eternal life.
And the cults like Mormons and Jehovah's witness and other religions like Jews are deceptions from Satan. The Angel that appeared to Joseph Smith was Satan in disguise.
"And the cults like Mormons and Jehovah's witness and other religions like Jews are deceptions from Satan. The Angel that appeared to Joseph Smith was Satan in disguise." - HA HA HA HA HA. The same could be said about the bible. Der. There were religions LONG before Christianity. YOUR the deception from Satan, and you're psychologically unstable. Seriously. Hate to be the one to inform you, but you're crazy.
The Jews don't think Jesus was the savior. Prove THEM wrong. lol.
The site just showed how science and the bible are compatible. The bible can be interpreted to support the conventional age of the earth.(And you are reading the creation stories badly. One is a general overview and the other is more specific. They have been read that way by many Christians)
This is great. If you can live with your interpretation of the bible, good for you. The problem is, what about the guy who interprets it differently from you? On top of that, the most dangerous people are those who believe the bible needs to be taken literally, no interpretation is possible- any halfway rational person can see how ridiculous that is. But if the bible is not to be taken literally, how is it any different from any other piece of mythology?
"Isn't it funny how subjective God's "perfect" word is? "-The true way to interpret the bible is with the holy spirit.People can twist the meanings around in whatever ways they like but there is 1 true meaning
Sweet! lol. Love that holy spirit that you obviously know, yet millions and millions of other Christians are without. It's so awesome that you're going to Heaven, and everyone else who thinks differently from you isn't! Right? Because obviously, you're the only one who is right.
John 16:13,"Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come."
1 Corinthians 3:16 "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"
The holy spirit dwells in the bodies of all true believers
Hey Phil - I like your vid, but you got one little factoid wrong. You mention that the snake is the only talking creature in the bible, but that's incorrect. Balaam had a donkey that spoke to him after he beat her. That in itself is a great story - Balaam was on a mission for God (literally) and God sent an angel to stop him. Insane!
Numbers 22:20-35. That's the whole sequence, the donkey talking is 28-30.
This story I find particularly stupid, since God says "go with these men" then gets angry and sends an angel to kill him, and then ends with "go with these men." The story actually makes me angry because it's so retarded.
Yes. In fact, it's been my hobby over the last few months to find all the crazy stupid in the bible. It's become kind of an obsession. A morbid curiosity.
It's also amusing how much Christians pull out of their asses to explain this impossibly absurd and self-contradictory collection of poorly written, barbaric stories.
I've always thought the bible to be completely metaphoric and parable. It's not literal, but a lot of christians think it. Adam and Eve were an 'ideal' couple, man and woman happy together... there was no tree, it's a symbol and the snake and the fruit? A metaphor for defiance and disobediance. I studied with the JoHos and they think A&E REALL EXISTED?
So I asked them... How come we get white, black, hispanic, asian, aboriginal and indian people all from one couple... they couldn't answer that. Then I asked, does that mean we all originate from brothers and sisters fucking each other? They nodded, VERY UNCOMFORTABLY. Then one of them piped up, that what happens with guniea pigs! Indeed...
Thanks, I agree. I'm mostly going after people who read this literally. I think all religion is bad for humanity though, though I do understand there are some religious people who aren't AS irrational.
I don't think that all religion would always necessarily be bad, but I do think it needs a MASSIVE renovation and attitude adjustment before it can be useful again... for example, no preaching absolute "truths" based on speculation, no declarations of perfect holy books or doctrine, no lists about what people MUST believe, etc.
True, I think you're describing faith and spirituality more though. RELIGION, basing a belief structure on an idea, I think is were things get messed up. Religion comes with rules, and robes and funny hats, and corruption. It's okay to have a faith and/or idea about what god could be, just what's the use in making it organized for the public? That's when suicide bombers are made.
I can agree that by that definition, religion probably can't be much of a good thing, in any form. I guess I think about groups like the Unitarian Universalists as forming a "religion" that doesn't do what others do, but I don't think they would qualify as a religion by the definition you use (which is a valid definition, btw).
mmm hmmm. You also have to consider things like scientology. It's like, where do you draw the line when it comes to religion. People can get all kinds of special treatment and unwarrented respect just by saying "that goes against our religious beliefs." Church takes in billions of donations and doesn't even have to pay taxes. I mean really, what the hell? I want that deal. I'll just start my own religion :P
I actually think that Scientology fits your definition of religion to the tea. They start with a set of backward and ludicrous ideas, and use them as a basis to dictate behavior to their followers.
You won't hear about these scholars, because they aren't televangelists and they aren't tring to get rich or powerful by manipulating people with dumbed down messages. The majority of Christians would disagree with their most learned scholars, if, that is, they even bothered to study their own religion. The fundamentalist agenda is to appeal to the stupid and also to make stupid.
You know, most LEGITAMATE religious theologians will admit that stories like Genesis were not meant to be taken literally, but to teach a lesson about temptation, and how falling prey to it can lead to harmful consequences.
Please, this is YouTube, a place for sound and sight. YouTube is not for reading, how can I watch this video while I am driving my car if I can't hear what you are saying.

Philosophobia 4 years ago
You are the definition of antichrist:
1 John 2:22 Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
tygew 4 years ago
"You are the definition of antichrist" - Whoa, I'm Nero Caesar? That's interesting.
Philosophobia 4 years ago

I've never seen or had an answer to this question.
ledrox 4 years ago
The short answer is because the story never happened, and the bible is a fairy tale written by primitive people, who didn't even know the Earth revolved around the Sun yet.
Philosophobia 4 years ago
God is both male and female-and we are both made in his image-there is a feminine aspect and a masculine aspect to God.
The good news is Jesus was the last Adam and he resisted temptation and died for your sins.Just accept him!!
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
Not all Christians accept the 6000 year old earth and you cannot understand the complexity of God's creation process."We" is the trinity or the royal "we"-which is how a king talks
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
"Not all Christians accept the 6000 year old"
- Then you're not listening to your own bible.
Philosophobia 4 years ago
"Just because you're able to delude yourself more, doesn't mean the bible's more correct."
-I am not deluded. You are deluding yourself and trying to build up a caricature of Christianity.I know the truth and it has set me free.
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
Philosophobia 4 years ago
You want proof the bible is true. The bible has over 2000 fulfilled prophecies.
Many of these are so specific that the chance of fulfilling them was infinitesimally small.A study on 13 biblical prophecies showed the prophecies in the bible had a better track record than the 2nd law of thermodynamics
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
"prophecy" is subjective. So did Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce. In fact, Cayce was MUCH better than the bible.
I'm gonna make a prophecy too. I prophesize that the twin towers will be attacked. Now all's I gotta do is write a book saying that I prophecized it before hand and presto, I'm a prophet.
Philosophobia 4 years ago
But the prophecies of Nostrodamus are very vague. The biblical prophets were able to prophecy the exact place of birth of the messiah, narrate incidents in his life, the exact year he began his ministry, the exact price he was sold for,the exact date of the ascension of Elijah and so on
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
Jesus was probably a real guy that they built a story around. Playing pin the tail on the savior doesn't mean anything. They also thought John the Baptist was the messiah. There were also messiah's after Jesus. Lots of them were walking around. Apollonius of Tyanna was another alleged person to have the same "powers" as Jesus. Was he a "messiah" too?
Philosophobia 4 years ago
You seem to have completely missed Phil's point- just because an event was written of unimaginably (for you) long ago, does not mean it was written of before the event took place.
AffluentLiberal 3 years ago
"all the bible contradictions"
All of these supposed contradictions have long been debunked by apologetics
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
Did the passover meal take place before or after the crucifixion? etc. etc
Philosophobia 4 years ago
Apologetics are minsters who seek to defend Christianity. If you look up "biblical contradictions cleared up" or biblical contradictions explained you can see their answers to all these questions.
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
Okay, so all of their arguments were "this is PROBABLY what they meant", or "the writers heard the wrong thing" or "the writers didn't know what they were writing". This still means there are contradictions in the bible. Your listenind to the drivel writings of dumb primitive people who couldn't get their shit together. Maybe they should have payed closer attention to the alleged GREATEST thing to ever happen to humanity and a history of our species. I think I would have made sure of the details
Philosophobia 4 years ago
Well I mean they are human and make little mistakes. However the same general message that Jesus taught is there and they all agree that he is the only way to eternal life
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
Yeah, the same "general" message. Even though they couldn't even tell if Jesus was killed after or before the passover? If he ran into the wilderness for 40 days or went to a wedding? What it said on the cross. How many angels appeared? What his instructions were to his disciples? This is supposedly the SON OF THE ONLY FUCKING GOD!!! yet they're totally clueless??? Devine happenings are going on!!! I would have remembered and wrote down EVERYTHING if I were talking to God!
Philosophobia 4 years ago
kabanetheChristian made an excellent video in his response to theAmazingatheist addressing the apparent contradictions in the gospels and how they are not contradictory at all.
also watch Kabanethechristian's videos on the resurrection of jesus and how it is historically attested
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
And as I told you before the age of the earth is a non-issue for most Christians.
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
Because you're full of shit. Your bible CLEARLY lays out the geneology of the entire Earth in it. You deny your own bible because you still have 1% of brain left activated. Just because you're able to delude yourself to some bullshit and not others doesn't make your bible true. Your bible also says that the Earth was made before all the stars in the universe. Your bible is wrong and retarded, and if you believe in, you are also wrong and retarded.
Philosophobia 4 years ago
The thing people ignore is how the Hebrews recorded geneologies."begat" does not necessarily mean father-son but it could mean great-grandfather-son.Bluntly put there are gaps. And the word used in the bible "yom" can signify an indefinite period of time as well as a day
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
"Gaps" are even worse, because then they don't match up with history. ie Moses and the Egyptians. That still doesn't explain why the stars were created after the Earth. Why there are two different creation stories. Where dinosaurs fit in. Or the other two mass extinctions before the dinosaurs. Or how the dinosaurs went extinct. Was woman created with man or from his...(sigh) rib. Did animals come first or man? You believe in magical fruit? God talks to people, but doesn't know where they hide?
Philosophobia 4 years ago
A global flood would also mean that animals and people of all kinds would be on the same layer of Earth. Which it's not. We've only had recorded history for the last 8 or 9 thousand years or so (if that) yet you say that gaps and all, people knew the entire history of the human race?
Philosophobia 4 years ago
"We've only had recorded history for the last 8 or 9 thousand years or so (if that) yet you say that gaps and all, people knew the entire history of the human race?"
The obvious answer is that God told them.
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
And the OBVIOUS answer is that God doesn't know shit. "God told them" lol. wow, you Christians sure are adorable. Believing that bullshit that people made up 2,000 years ago, yet denying al the other religious bullshit that came BEFORE Christianity. God gave two entirely different creations stories! LOL!!! "God told them" hahahaha!!! (sigh)
Then if God's so "talkative" and likes getting involved with humans apparently, then where has he been for the last 2,000 years? Ran out of people to kill?
Philosophobia 4 years ago
"Then if God's so "talkative" and likes getting involved with humans apparently, then where has he been for the last 2,000 years"-
I know several people who have been healed had their prayers answered and speak in tongues and have had miracles occur to them.GOD IS STILL SPEAKING TODAY.Just because you have not had an experience does not mean noone else has
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
And about the different sect-these are just differences in worship practises and rituals. However all agree that Jesus is the only way to eternal life.
And the cults like Mormons and Jehovah's witness and other religions like Jews are deceptions from Satan. The Angel that appeared to Joseph Smith was Satan in disguise.
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
"And the cults like Mormons and Jehovah's witness and other religions like Jews are deceptions from Satan. The Angel that appeared to Joseph Smith was Satan in disguise." - HA HA HA HA HA. The same could be said about the bible. Der. There were religions LONG before Christianity. YOUR the deception from Satan, and you're psychologically unstable. Seriously. Hate to be the one to inform you, but you're crazy.
The Jews don't think Jesus was the savior. Prove THEM wrong. lol.

facilisdescenus 4 years ago
Nah, I'd rather stay with REAL science, instead of biased propaganda Christian science. Thanks though.
Philosophobia 4 years ago
The site just showed how science and the bible are compatible. The bible can be interpreted to support the conventional age of the earth.(And you are reading the creation stories badly. One is a general overview and the other is more specific. They have been read that way by many Christians)
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
This is great. If you can live with your interpretation of the bible, good for you. The problem is, what about the guy who interprets it differently from you? On top of that, the most dangerous people are those who believe the bible needs to be taken literally, no interpretation is possible- any halfway rational person can see how ridiculous that is. But if the bible is not to be taken literally, how is it any different from any other piece of mythology?
AffluentLiberal 3 years ago
"Isn't it funny how subjective God's "perfect" word is? "-The true way to interpret the bible is with the holy spirit.People can twist the meanings around in whatever ways they like but there is 1 true meaning
facilisdescenus 4 years ago
Sweet!

And of course only you have holy spirit, but not those other christians. They're probably all satanists.

Insane!
OccamKant 4 years ago
Oh, thank you for pointing that out. I'll make a note of it. Could you point out which book it's in?
Philosophobia 4 years ago
Numbers 22:20-35. That's the whole sequence, the donkey talking is 28-30.
This story I find particularly stupid, since God says "go with these men" then gets angry and sends an angel to kill him, and then ends with "go with these men." The story actually makes me angry because it's so retarded.
OccamKant 4 years ago
Thanks. A talking ass is pretty dumb. I haven't seen a talking ass since the last Kent Hovind seminar.
Philosophobia 4 years ago
lol :)
OccamKant 4 years ago
I really don't understand how Christians can take the bible seriously.
Why did the snake in Eden know more about the trees than the humans?
Why was the ass able to see the angel, but not balaam?
Absolute drivel.
OccamKant 4 years ago
I always liked how God put a fucking tree he didn't want anyone to eat from in the middle of the garden in the first place.
Philosophobia 4 years ago
OccamKant 4 years ago
I've always thought the bible to be completely metaphoric and parable. It's not literal, but a lot of christians think it. Adam and Eve were an 'ideal' couple, man and woman happy together... there was no tree, it's a symbol and the snake and the fruit? A metaphor for defiance and disobediance. I studied with the JoHos and they think A&E REALL EXISTED?
YoungKauri 4 years ago
So I asked them... How come we get white, black, hispanic, asian, aboriginal and indian people all from one couple... they couldn't answer that. Then I asked, does that mean we all originate from brothers and sisters fucking each other? They nodded, VERY UNCOMFORTABLY. Then one of them piped up, that what happens with guniea pigs! Indeed...
YoungKauri 4 years ago
I thought man was created in our image. I thouhgt it was a traslation error, because the christan god was a copy off of Gods.

Anyway, good vid, man! I'll have to check out more of them.
NeoPrometheus73 4 years ago
Thanks, I agree. I'm mostly going after people who read this literally. I think all religion is bad for humanity though, though I do understand there are some religious people who aren't AS irrational.
Philosophobia 4 years ago
I don't think that all religion would always necessarily be bad, but I do think it needs a MASSIVE renovation and attitude adjustment before it can be useful again... for example, no preaching absolute "truths" based on speculation, no declarations of perfect holy books or doctrine, no lists about what people MUST believe, etc.
NeoPrometheus73 4 years ago
True, I think you're describing faith and spirituality more though. RELIGION, basing a belief structure on an idea, I think is were things get messed up. Religion comes with rules, and robes and funny hats, and corruption. It's okay to have a faith and/or idea about what god could be, just what's the use in making it organized for the public? That's when suicide bombers are made.
Philosophobia 4 years ago
I can agree that by that definition, religion probably can't be much of a good thing, in any form. I guess I think about groups like the Unitarian Universalists as forming a "religion" that doesn't do what others do, but I don't think they would qualify as a religion by the definition you use (which is a valid definition, btw).
NeoPrometheus73 4 years ago
Philosophobia 4 years ago
I actually think that Scientology fits your definition of religion to the tea. They start with a set of backward and ludicrous ideas, and use them as a basis to dictate behavior to their followers.
NeoPrometheus73 4 years ago
They apparently also get to kill anyone they want, as long as god's on their side.
Philosophobia 4 years ago
You won't hear about these scholars, because they aren't televangelists and they aren't tring to get rich or powerful by manipulating people with dumbed down messages. The majority of Christians would disagree with their most learned scholars, if, that is, they even bothered to study their own religion. The fundamentalist agenda is to appeal to the stupid and also to make stupid.
NeoPrometheus73 4 years ago
You know, most LEGITAMATE religious theologians will admit that stories like Genesis were not meant to be taken literally, but to teach a lesson about temptation, and how falling prey to it can lead to harmful consequences.
NeoPrometheus73 4 years ago
