I'm from St George, 40 miles from Colorado City, and I found them to be decent people. I have been in their corner ever since this raid. So I have a genuine question. What options does a woman who is a member of the FLDS have if she wishes to wait a while before she has kids? And also, what happens if either she is unable to have, or that she not want children at all?
@LegalAlien100 To answer, a woman doesn't have the option of waiting in the FLDS. Once assigned in marriage, she isn't allowed to have birth control, so she just keeps having kids as long as her husband wants to be intimate with her. As for not wanting children, a woman's entire purpose for living in the FLDS is to have children, so she is expected to procreate whether she wants to or not. Otherwise, she would be excommunicated. If she can't have them, the family usually adopts.
I met some FLDS when in UT this summer and I have to say they were the most wholesome people I ever met. I just wanted to stay with them. There was such harmony among this polite and nice people. Don't get fooled by the media. These people are real people and if some members have shortcoming, don't we all?
@SOBEKsRAINBOW I was reading in Carolyn Jessop's book that Faunita is supposedly doing better these days...she has a couple of her grandkids looking after her, she's getting treatment for her diabetes, and she's in a much better place emotionally. Of course, I got read this a couple of years ago...I hope things are still that way for her now. :)

Once assigned in marriage, she isn't allowed to have birth control, so she just keeps having kids as long as her husband wants to be intimate with her. As for not wanting children, a woman's entire purpose for living in the FLDS is to have children, so she is expected to procreate whether she wants to or not. Otherwise, she would be excommunicated. If she can't have them, the family usually adopts.

Ya while that may be true what you are failing to take into account was the life expectatancy back then was half of what we have now, so 16 yr olds were considered adults married and had kids because by the time they were 30 they were considered old. Ppl died sooner cause health care and stuff didn't exist. These laws about young girls and paedophilia are in place to protect young women and boys. Well now the courts reveal the truth, I feel I've been blindsided by all this. We now know there was no justification for raiding and essentially kidnapping 400 children. Good to see the Constitution is still working, at least this time. ONE underage pregnancy out of 400? I'll bet Houston can't claim that, so shouldn't they raid that entire city and take all those children with their logic?
