The music wouldn't be compelling without all of those messy ideas you mislabel as nihilistic. The music and artistic statement are one and the same thing. There's a whole boatload of "non-nihilistic" bands who will shamelessly pander to your ideological specifications to become your favorite band. Go4 is nobody's pet band.

Love this band! Saw them live several times back in the day and they rocked, best shows ever! It was amazing how they worked the audiences live!

@matowana ... y the fuck would u do that. thats literally disrespecting the arist. andy gill and theothers would be ashmed to kno u were a fan of their music while mocking critiques of society. what would society be if ppl didnt question it? exactly what THEY would want it to be, and wed be slaves (but we wouldnt know it)

Saw them in Gent (Belgium) when their 'I love a man in a uniform' just came out. A hall full of "punks", expecting them to play the early Entertainment and Solid gold stuff, where quite hostile towards Gang of Four... I saw one of the best concerts ever...

Gang of Four tell it like it is...no wonder they`ve been sporadically banned and constantly sidelined by "everything is sooo lovely " escapist mass culture. They,XTC and The Bad Plus, ROCK !

Great band of the 80's. A band with something to say other than boy meets chuffin' girl ad nauseum. Loved Andy Gills guitar sound too.
