Basso Profundo is about range though, much the question is does he sound like a basso profundo at C2 and D2, and not just a high bass. I don't think this guy sounds like that yet, a high bass yes, and maybe his voice will get fuller, you don't know though.
Also to anyone who thinks that because they can hit a C2 they are a basso profundo, or even a bass, check out Paul McCartny, he is a tenor, w/ A1. Also don't expand you range, expand what you can sing will, range will come.
fullbag, it's quite possible you will turn profundo. At 16, I still didn't have the D below the staff, but by end of college, lowest had continued dropping until I had an 'okay' B. The B-flat was elusive for a few years, but at around age 30 there was a maturation of the sound, and I started noticing a half step drop in the lowest note every 4 or 5 years. If you don't take voice lessons, you might try sundry scales of one to two octaves. Relax down, rather than push-easy, not driving, esp @ 16
Not bad at all... although one criticism I would have is that hitting that high note in a song about not being able to hit high notes doesn't quite work out. X-)
I have looked aaaaaalllll over for sheet music to this...... and several people have attached comments wanting to know where to find sheet music for this...... has anybody had any luck? The closest I have come is a website that says it's composed by George Botsford in 1932 with Al Bernard "A basso profundo am I", but still can't find sheet music for it. :-(
Final E-flat would have been louder if you would have opened your mouth into an O-shape on the "uh" sound of "I". Just saying (a suggestion).
Eb2-C4 is a decent range for your age. (That Eb4 at 2:38 sounded very falsetto-like.) Trust me.
In case you are wondering, they made me sing 3rd bass in a choir rehearsal in Mahler's Symphony No. 8 (an experiment). Range? Bb1-F4 ... of course I cannot sing Bb1 at age 16. Thus, I know that the Eb4 was in falsetto from its tone colour and volume.
surprisingly his note at the end wasnt a d. was it supposed to be? it was an eflat.. amazing nonetheless for a kid who looks to be quite young he had quite a well projected e flat. most high school bass' cant even produce a strong e or f. most ranges stop at g or higher. thankfully my strongest note is about an e.. hbaha. but i practice profusely. can project dflat in the mornings. vocalise c or lower as well
No, not a basso profundo, but a basso p in training. If he has a Big D at his age, by the time he passes thirty, he'll likely have a B-flat, and maybe an A when in his 40s. There are many references to C2 and D2 being considered profundo, but I'm used to most Bass 2s getting one or both of them. This young guy could be one of those with 3 octaves, hearing his sound in the upper register at this point. This from 30-yrs of experience singing profundo. When possible.
he is absolutely no tenor, he has to learn to control his larynx, then he will sound dark and be able to sing strong without stressing his vocal cords, the larynx now i climbing up for the high tones so he sounds like a tenor
I do agree that your voice might be slightly light, but you did a great job on this! I, too, would be very grateful to know where you obtained the sheet music for it though because I have been searching for a while now and have come up with nothing.
Not quite down there just yet but will come with age. please don't let go of the top voice. you seem to have something up there worth exploring!
