Can't believe you did the trail with that bag, or that you got a new one with a plastic frame. Kelty makes a much better bag, even a military Alice pack is better...I think.
Gregory is very nice but when it comes to bags i like blackdiamond. the way they have intigrated suspension in about every strap (the hip belt and sternum strap and shoulder straps) is very nice. It makes hiking alot nicer and if there are logs in the way which i seem to encounter alot it lets you just hop right over.
as far as bags go. Gregory all day long. I sport the z65 Jetstream LTS. i love it and you should try a Gregory for yourself they are expensive but the best bags ive ever used.
@seedboy41 Thats Right!!!!! I have a Triconi 60 and have abused that pack more than any pack should ever take but it shows nothing more than superficial wear and tear.
I see you mentioned switching out for a different pad, hehe. Imagine that. ; ) Can't wait to see what your preference was.
