I just bought this guitar. It sure is a cannon, but personally find it too "busy" for my tastes. When I use a capo a couple of frets down it cleans it up a bit, but to me it sounds like too many choir members singing, it that makes sense. Have you grown to love this guitar thus far?
Since you had it for awhile. Whats your opinion now? Bet you're loving it. I just traded my 1992 Martin HD-28 mint condition. For a brand new HD-16R- LSH. It was to my DAD. So it was worth it to me, and I love the LSH with big bass and vol.
@bluegrasssingingman I recently moved, so it is still on the shelf in the case. You are right, I need to take it out and play it a bit more. Thanks for the reminder.
I am loving it, and it is a great git. I bought t. Funny, yours went to your dad, mine will eventually go to my son :)
@eugeneconrad Thats cool, my HD-28 was a 1992 mint. The sound was amazing. I was checking out the HD-16 R-LSH for sometime. Wanting it for the lsh, big bass, and vol. My Dad went and bought it. With in a week he traded me. The HD-28 is a great guitar. I just like the HD-16 r lsh. Just something about the 16 line. They are the first guitar to ever be scalloped. When people wanted them so much. Martin started putting the scallopped bracing in the HD-28 & HD-35.
Enjoy it! I had to sell mine to pay bills. This is on my wish to get another one or a HD 28 V. Nothing sounds like a Martin especially the base tones.
hey i just bought a HD28 a few days ago, sound great and so do you, but the cords are a little wrong, not the wat CAT played it, but who cares nice job, and love your guitar.
thanks. i always wanted a martin, so whe it came time to buy an acoustic, i tried a bunch, then took the HD28. I played it so much my fingers got sore (injured actually) i think i bruised the bone onthe tip of my index finger, left hand!
so i played my electrics for a while with 9-42 strings, takin it easy until my finger heals. almost there....
I got carpal tunnel after first playing guitar for too many hours than going to a guitar shop and trying 15 different Martins. Now I can't play for at least two weeks.
Be on guard for that nasty carpal tunnel business. I had to stop playing for 2 years with it. It took year of playing slowly again until I could get back to where I was.
It's an inflamation of the carpal band surrounding the wrist which holds the tendons of the fingers in place. It's caused mainly by repetitive motion. A classic symptom is if all of your fingers go to sleep (or numb) except for your pinky, during the night. It can affect both hands, but for guitarists, it usually affects the fretting hand. Very painful when it hits.
shit!!! i've been playing about a year now and that happens to my hands at night all the time. One time my left hand contracted and it hurt really bad. Do you think this could be carpal tunnel?
Barre chords give me a sharp pain in the middle of my hand. Usually after I have a shower and rinse out my dreadlocks it's at its worst. I am worried this is carpel tunnel or repetitive stress syndrome or something.
these have the stock martin strings. i think they are 12 guage. if you check the martin website it would tell you the exact brand, but they are the stock strings.

Martin stocks their guitars with Martin SP Med. Strings, and there a top of the line string.
