Great video Lisa, great info, we have a banner advertising website and we offer both free advertising and paid to place a banner ad on our home page. It is somewhat difficult deciding how much to charge but i think you also have to take into consideration that where your site is now may not be where it is 6 months or a year from now, if the method is used in your video the ad was sold cheap but within a period of time the traffic may be much more which means you sold your ad space too cheap.
Lisa my website is a community directory that i run in my home town, it talk's alot about the happenings in our community, i depend a lot on the busineses in this community to place ads on my site, which means i have to get out & work..........what can i do to attract more traffic to my site?
How do you choose what ads you will accept and which ones you would not accept?
I'm not talking about the price the person or company is willing to pay or the or the relevancy of the ad to your website. I'm talking about the reputation of the person or company (good or bad), or the ethical considerations that you might have.
I know that I would not want my web site to be associated with certain people or companies, and I just wondered what your criteria is.
Can you change the pricing if you begin to get more visitors? Or is the price you agreed with your advertiser in the first method, a fixed rate? Or do you just advice them that the next month the price will go up depending on your analytics or do or can advertisers keep an eye on how your website is doing once they are in business with you?
Wow! Excellent video Lisa! You make a great point about how well the ads are doing and testing them. I like how you go into to detail in your videos, which has been extremely helpful for me.
First of all THANK YOU for all of this great information. I have been listening to you for a while and I have seen most of your videos. You have helped my viewership go up substantially! My website got 400 unique visitors in March of 2009 and I will easily eclipse 3000 this month....But I am not doing so well w/ affiliate marketing....My ? is where do you go to find people willing to advertise on your site? Where do you look for them? Thank you!
I'm talking about other people advertising on your site (other blog / website owners) When you get enough traffic they will likely inquire about advertising on your site.
Very helpful insights, as always. Taking the opportunity to mention an idea for a future video - it would be most interesting to hear you share your knowledge about keyword research and competition.
In other words, if one is starting a new site with SEO and business in mind but discovers that all the prime keywords and spots on 1st page of Google is dominated by 10+ year old mega-domains with unbeatable numbers - how to best choose an alternative keyword-route to success?
quick question. So i have statcounter and sitemeter on my blog. Google has me at 3k visits, those 2 have me at 50k visits for 12 mos, what is going on? And does wayne bradey have to visit google to straighten them out? Or what can i do?
@lisa3876 What do you think is going on? my website gets 110,000 visitors a montha nd I have thousands of facebook fans. I am selling ad space for under $700 Per year and businesses are still hesitant.
It seems they are still content with spending thousands on garbage direct mail and other obsolete advertising.
