  • I just perchest the the same gun "stevens 311 12ga" I pick it up on 3-11-12 and it's in really bad shape It's my project gun I'm going to blue it. I will post a before and after. I do like the black looks cool.

  • Got it thanks

  • How did you get the Hardware out of the butt stock? I only see one screw that holds the trigger guard. I can't see what is holding the stock to it.. Any help?

  • @tsali1293 There is one big screw in the hole you will find behind the butt pad on the stock. You will need a long flat screwdriver to get to the head of the screw.

  • nice job

  • Damn that lil shotty looks great

  • Excellent job.

  • I like the results. Does this type of re-finishing take away from its overall value? Some might think so, I do not believe it would if your results look better than the camera captured. I just sub'ed your channel so I will look at the other vids on this project.

  • How did you disasemble the foregrip and barrels

  • very helpful video. thanks a lot.

  • How long does Duracoat last. Better then normal blueing?

  • Excellent job. I mean, absolutely splendid! I am about to acquire an older (1960s?) 20 Gauge Ranger side by side (apparently based on the 311).... I think I may have to do what you did, because it is in a rough shape. (at the very least, the wood). Hopefully I can make it look as good as yours (more or less haha). Nice job!

  • That's something to be proud of !

  • everyone ones gotta love a good doublebarrel shotgun!

  • I have a Stevens Savage Arms model 311 series H side-by-side 12 ga. The serial number starts with the letter "D". Does anybody know what year it would have been manufactured?

  • Excellent job mate. You can't get Duracote in the UK it's shown on Midways UK site but it's not or sale, the stock finishing oils are not problem but as usual rip off Britain with the prices. I'm doing a couple of guns up at the moment and if they come out looking like that I'll be very happy. Atb Rob

  • i wanted to get a stoeger coach gun, but i recently stopped saving for it after i learned that the gun automatically puts on its safety every time you load it,so i may get this one, but i have questions:

1)if this has Auto-Safety, im not interested in it at all, does it have A-S?

    2)how long is the barrel?

    3)how long is the stock?

    4)is it availabl in 12gauge?

i trid to find info elsewhere, but i cant find it

    thanks in advance

  • @angryslug1 I expect it does have auto-safety, but if you don't like it you can modify it by filing the end off the rod that operates it, making it manual. Personally I'm so used to the auto safety on my side-by-side, now I just naturally push it to "off" as soon as I shoulder it!

  • @bikingnutcase0 thanks

  • @angryslug1 it is a twelve gauge in the vid and no its not auto

  • BEAUTIFUL GUN

  • I used the tru oil kit on a Stevens .410 bolt action & it is a fabulous product. use your hands to keep rubbing it in until it gets tacky enough to not run. 0000 steel wool works great with a lil water to help make the finish appear oil rubbed.

THINK AGAIN BEFORE YOU REFINISH JUST ANY OLD GUN. EVEN IF THE GUN LOOKS LIKE ITS IN REAL NEED OF REFINISHING. IT WOULD BE A GIANT CUT IN THE GUN'S REAL VALUE ONCE YOU DO THIS.

  • Nice, I am putting together an oven for curing GunKote but I would like to experiment with Duracoat too...

  • I have a 20 ga Stevens model 311. Its been a great shotgun so far.

  • nice, I plan to experiment with duracoat myself some day

  • @monsterman27 No kids its not big or clever to experiment with duracoat.

  • that gun looks SO good. that looks like a collectors item man

  • Fantastic job!!! A great inspiration. I have my Grandfathers old single barrel that's about a hundred years old maybe more(no kiddin') so I think I'll do what you did in order to save it for my kids.

Well done, and all the best from Ireland.

  • Good job.

    Hey on the Birchwood Tru-oil.

Instead of using my finger , i used my Airbrush , and it looks better and less work. Trust me.

I have couple guns i want to Duracoat.

    Remington 1100

    Sears 200

    Henry Lever Action H001

I'll let you guys know how did they come out.

  • Cheap shotguns are the BEST!!

  • by the way u did a great job

  • I always use my hands putting the true oil on , i just rub the whole stock till it starts to get sticky, seems to help with any runs , put i end up with sticky hands , thank god for brake cleaner lol

  • Just a suggestion on the Tru Oil process:

I'm not sure what you used to apply the oil with, but if you use cheesecloth to apply in very thin layers and buff lightly with 0000 steel wool in between coats, you won't run into the problems you mentioned. The shotgun looks amazing by the way, I have the exact same model. My friend and I are just now getting into Duracoat and parkerizing, and looking forward to getting a few projects rolling.

  • Gun looks amazing! Thanks for posting!

  • damn fine piece of work Mr.

  • Very Nice. I recently bought the same model and now I'm thinking a nice restore when would look good on it.

  • looks nice
