They don't show you, another friend committing suicide after debating it with a gun to his head crying for 6 hours from witnessing this, and they don't tell you or you might end up in a mental hospital from the tramatic experiences, or end up in a wheelchair for the rest of your life.
The Marine Corps prides itself on being the first to fight, and taking on the brunt of every combat operation this country has been involved in. The Marine Corps also exceeded its recruiting goal by 142% for FY08. People join the Marines because they WANT to go to war, and experience combat. It may not be pretty, and it sure as hell aint glorious, but thats what the Marine Corps does, and Marines like to boast the fact that they are front line troops who witness combat firsthand.
