  • I live there and on that day of pure "WAR HELL" all the trees got their &*&%^&ss kicked. I moved my car when I heard all the loud cracking of trees breaking and some limbs fell on my power line and shot so much electricity to my house that all the lights got very BRIGHT and every electronic device in the house melted including our central heat furnace, TV, microwave, etc.. We had to move out for 11 days due to no power or heat. It was actually colder IN my house than outside was.

  • man during this icestorm i was like 9 now im 11 and me and my mommy lived in a traler we got stuck in our house because some ice broke our doornob lol

  • We were without power for 2 weeks, my mom and I came so close to getting hit by a falling branch it wasnt funny!!! The first day was fun,we rosted hot dogs over a fire, but the days just got worse and worse, my neighborhood lokked twice as bad as that!! I had no clue what an ice storm was, and we had just bought a house and moved in about 2 weeks before the icestorm!!!!! Drove past our old home, and a big walnut tree had fallen through my Old room!!!! Wow, hope to never see one like that!!!

  • we were without power for seven days, my mom was without for two weeks. ice storms are the true meaning of beautiful but deadly. the last big ice storm before the '07 one here was in 1987 on christmas day. it's referred to as black christmas. i was more than eight months pregnant and scared that he'd pick the middle of the ice storm to be born. he waited till january 17 of '88. in the 07 ice storm, i made his b-day cake by candlelight in our gas oven which we were using for heat.

  • My son was born right before the storm hit, it sucked having a newborn and you couldnt even go home, because we didnt have power for a month.... Love the rogersville drag videos too!

  • There used to be a LOT more of them until they pulled a ton because they didn't like the music in them. :(

  • Let's hope for a less painful and less deadly winter this year!

  • Let's hope for no repeats this year!

  • Well it is 67 degrees on Nov 19th, so far so good!

  • its pretty clean around here now :)

  • we were without power for 15 days...the pantries ran dry of food and many people had no place to go... it was scary. many places here in town still are a disaster, many people are loosing their trees permanantly.. the rest will take years to recover... city utilities still doesnt have everyones bills calculated proporly and are still estimating peoples bills because of trees and such in their way... next time i hope the city is more prepared.

  • Excuse my ignorance... what is an Ice Storm? Like snowing but colder?

  • It was actually exactly at freezing. It was raining, and the instant that the rain hit the ground, or a tree, or a powerline, or a car, or whatever, it would instantly freeze to ice. The weight put onto the trees was fantastic. And it still isn't close to cleaned up around here.

  • Boy. Do I remember that week. No school at Missouri State!

  • I am from Springfield Missouri but have lived in Californa for about 15 years now. Most of my family lives in Springfield and the surrounding area. I couldn't believe people there were without power for as long as they were. Some were without electricity for almost two weeks. A horrible disaster.

  • Nice job. I was too depressed during the storm and aftermath to take any vids - LOL.

  • Great video!! I'm uploading one as well in Youtube ever finishes with it!! LOL Anyway I feel your pain, we were without power for six days. I really feel bad for the folks without generators that are STILL without power.

  • Man!! It's amazing that something that looks so cool, could be that destructive. I was there. I am a lineman from NJ, and I went there to help restore power. I hope everyone is ok now.

  • Yeah, we really had it BAD. Most of the damage was aweful, but nearly the entire City had NO power. Gas stations had no gas, people were living as though we were on the frontier!! Glad most of it is over now... as for the snow to come... no comment.

  • Good stuff. Finally got power after 6 days!! And MO State is out for a week...

  • I feel for you guys, I really do. I just moved from there, and live in Branson now, and we pretty much missed the whole thing, but I kept in contact with some friends up there. Wish I coulda been up there to help! Good luck on getting things back to normal!!!

  • Yikes! stay safe infarc

  • Wonderful video - I felt like I was there.

  • :) You wouldn't want to be here.

  • I'm not - I'm in Florida - 80 degrees today - But I remember my years in New York. Come on down!

  • I just uploaded one as well from today (14th). Embeded your video and mine into my blog for the viewers to see. Great footage. Thank you for helping to keep folks informed!

  • It's a lot worse, hope everyone is okay. I have 2 tree limbs going through my house.

  • Great footage man! That was a really bad ice storm from what I've seen/heard. How much ice did you end up getting, or is it still freezing raining(sp?)?

  • It is actually worse than that now, I would say probably twice as many trees down, and the forecast is that the "worst has yet to come" so we'll see, I guess.
