    PFC Parnell

    U.S. Army Chemical Corp.

2 combat tours in 2nd Iraq War

  • @diego14p

This song is from the American Civil War, so more 1860's than 1940's.

  • great version of the song, althoug the series sucked, a lot.

  • awesome song, that song has pure class. I wish I could find out the artist. Great Video!

  • TO THE JOURNEY S6

  • 0:48 "Maybe that is the problem ,maybe we get 2 comfortable killing people."

  • Who maked this version?

I kinda like its so slow.

    Makes it kinda sad.

  • 'maybe that's the problem' etc.

  • I don't understand what D. Keating says on 0:48

    can you tell me please?

  • maybe that's the proper

maybe we're getting a bit too comfortable with.....

    the rest i don't understand

  • As far as I now it is another version of "Johnny I hardly knew ya" - an irish anti-recruiting song. But not quite sure which version is older.

  • I think you did an excellent job with this video, the song really presents itself well with the irony of the third season and the emotions that went with the whole Xindi affair. I particularly love the last shot, it was very poignant. I've been coming back to watch this video for awhile now before I delve into my writing and I thought I'd finally post to tell you how much I like it and that you did a very good job in portraying this. Thank you.

  • he songs way too slowly

  • its about a fight against cetralized government, when government becomes too large it loses sight of the people it governs and sets its marks upon itself alone.

In 1860 it was about states rights over federalism, and the noble fight to keep slavery from western expansionism as the country grew west. Today the fight will become the right of the people against the swelling federal govt. It is not about race but FREEDOM!

  • Well said lad, greetings from Croatians ,freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom!!!!!!!!!!

  • ...WRONG TIME!!

  • jony was relly grat i ges can som1 tell me what he did

  • johnny Rebel is a famous south staate musician

Johnny is an assosiation for all these guy who went into the war, and their parents hope they will come back.

    Greetings from Cologne Germany

    max

  • @MAXIM8y8 The song was not a Southern song...It was written by Percy Gilmore of the 24th Massachusetts volunteers to and old Irish song...

  • @MAXIM8y8

    Thats not true..

The original song was "Johnny I hardly knew ya". It was an Irish anti-war song, about when the Irish had to serve in the early 18th century for the British East India Company. The Civil War "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" refers to Patrick Gilmore's (He came up with the lyrics) son in Law, Johhny, who was a soldier in the Union army.

  • @MAXIM8y8 Johnny Rebel born in 1938, is a musician who uses racial epithet .

  • Do you know how to spell?

Whatever, Johnny, i think, was a nickname for rebels during the civil war. And Billy Yank for the Yankees.

  • wats his website?

  • Awesum !

    Many thanks !

    :-)

  • The song version is by STEVE VAUS from his album - American History (1999?). His songs are hard to find because back in 1992, when he was under contract with RCA Records, they pulled it out of the market due to "complaints" from big time radio stations that his songs were patriotic. I found that really ridiculous.

His version of The Star Spangled Banner in the same album is equally exquisite.

  • You are right about the ridiculousness of what you are speaking of-every one has the right to be patriotic of their country-I am from the UK-and I am fiercely loyal of my country.....it is the minority that spoil it for the majority! I like this version of the original song!! As I could never find the lyrics!

  • Which is why in America it i minority right majority rule.

  • does anyone know the songs artist ? its such a beautiful version and i would like to get it without the parts where the crew speaks...

    beautiful video and song!

  • I think "FreedonBunker"needs to get a life.I thought it was awesome.

  • That was a reply to the above comment by eagles1177. I suggest you read his comment before insulting me.

  • You sir are a disgrace to the south.

  • SO,---------What is your problem? You got a little peepee so you are going to hate the world. What gives you the right to spew filth into the world?Just because you came from a polluted gene pool doesn't mean the world has to put up with assholes like you.

  • holy shit doesn no one have the original verson with a whole bunch of people singing?!?!? damn!

  • i know its so damn hard to find

  • very nicely put together.

  • limewire should work fine ^^

  • i want this song, were can i get it?

  • I think the it is almost sung at the right speed, but slower it does sound more moarnful

  • a bit slow but its ok

  • Ottimo!

  • a sad melody for a sad ending.. :( Enterprise...

  • Johnny Horton is the guy who sings this song

  • I thing that this sings Steve Vaus..

  • think :-))

  • You may be right...found a few other songs of his and teh voice is VERY similar, plus he specializes in "patriotic" music. Though his site says you can hear a sample of his music by going to the "his music" page I found no such samples, only a list of his cds for sale. Somebody with more time on their hands will have to dive deeper into Google's vaults if they want to find more info, I guess. This is a great rendition, but assuredly NOT Johnny Horton's version...

  • anyone know where to get this song?

  • try on amazon

  • where can i get this song

  • I'm fairly certain, I have a number of songs that Scott has sung. Let me know if you want any?

    =D GG

  • I like the fact you used a song Scott Bakula sang. Very nice video, very intense!

    hugs GG

  • IS it Scott Bakula? I don't know - I downloaded the song somewhere ages ago and don't have a clue where it comes from and who the singer is.

  • Well I've never heard him sing anything before, so is this really him singing too?

  • @GroovyGoddess

this song version is sung by steve vaus. available on cd :-)

but this is one of the best versions i've ever heard.

  • Brilliant idea to connect Archer with the song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home". So I would have focused more on Archer. But it's still a good video anyway.

  • good job i like it keep up the good work
