Um sorry... Is the Pramotinal thingy where you trade a DS lite for a DSI still on? Please I really want wi-fi, but my DS and DS lite are only compatible with WEP and I have WPA. Please Please Please? I will be your best friend! I have my wifi all set up and it took 2-3 Weeks. PLEASE HELP!

@Steve34tank I like the Dsi for an all over use. The DSi XL seems mostly for an at home use. While the dsi fits everywhere, pockets, purses, etc.

Plus, the color selection for the dsi better!

The only advantage is the size. I find the Dsi more practical, but if you like the size difference, then I guess the DSI XL is for you.

It's like it has auto tune built in! Not really though because then you would have to change it for every single different note sung. I can't wait to buy one this Saturday! yea all the Ds lite games work except the Guitar hero series on Ds because the hardware for it dosent work on DSi.

If you put a Flashcard like a R4 pro in it, and your DSi is 'cracked' so that it can run games from the flashcard, can you assign EVERY game onto that bar on the touchscreen?

or is that bar just for things for going to 'songs' or 'video's' right off the SD card which is placed on the right side?

I'm thinking of getting a DS Lite or a DSi and my main concern is I've heard something about button changes. DS Lite got softer buttons? Can you compare it to other consoles and is there any problem with the Lite or DSi buttons to break so I can't play? Also I haven't seen the menus in DS Lite...

The buttons on the DSi don't sit up as high as the DSLite. It doesn't take long to get used to them either..., and I've yet to hear major complaints regarding quality issues with the buttons.

What do you mean by "chip thingy"? The Di has two cameras. One on the interior and one on the exterior of the unit.

my friend has the DSi and the connection distance seems higher than the ds lites. In other words, does the dsi have a further connection distance than the ds? (to wifi and ds connection)

Yes you can still play them. There are exceptions however. Such as Guitar Hero. The DSi does not have the GBA port.

I've not heard anything like that. It's supposed to be able to play all the DS games. i've not had any problems with any DS games on ours.

I've really grown to like it over the DSlite. The speakers are def improved. I can tell when using my Korg DS-10 application on the DSi. It's louder.., more bass, and just overall more balanced in the audio.

I would say that the removal of the GBA port is probably the biggest disadvantage. Other than that.., it's a nice step up from the DS-Lite. Better OS (more like the Wii), bigger screen, music player, cameras, browser now included for free!

Yes.., you're right. I assumed it was MP3 format..., but later found that it's AAC when the wife and I started dowloading music to the SD card. It won't play all AAC files though. We noticed the DSi was not playing the copyrighted AAC files.

I have a DS Lite right now and I might get a DSi. I'm wondering about one thing though. Since the D-pad and A, B, X, and Y buttons are so much different in height, are they hard to get used to?

Nahhh..., the buttons aren't hard to get used to at all. It won't take you long to get used to them.., but when your first try it out you will notice the difference, but as I said it doesn't take long to get used to them :)

are the stylus from the Dsi to the Lite the same? or are they different in some way? and another way to put it, if you got NO GBA games, no interest in guitar hero and basicly no connection to the GBA port. is it worth trading in my DSlite which has given me no problems to get the DSi?

The stylus between the two are not the same. The DSi's is slightly longer and the base is also a different shape (considering the DS/DSi have slight differences in the casing). If you don't use the GBA port on your current DS-Lite.., then I say trade it in. It's worth it considering you get the new model for $100 with trade in. Plus you get a bigger screen, SD card usage with MP3 playback, Internet browser for FREE, better speakers, a camera, and more. Worth the upgrade IMO.

The clock and date are still there, and so is the alarm. I haven't seen the calender though.

Hey.., I stand corrected. There IS a calendar on the DSi. It's not in the typical place you'd find it on the DS-Lite. The calendar on the DSi is located under the photo section.

Thanks for that man. You get quite a bit of bang for your buck don't you? Games, camera, mp3, web, online store, etc. Looks good. What's the sound quality like? I've played mp3 through a homebrew device on my lite but the bit/sample rate is a bit low. Have they changed that?

Yeah.., it sure is a lot of bang for your buck :)  I haven't downloaded any MP3's on the unit yet.., so I can't really comment on the audio quality of those at the moment. I'm quite confident my wife will have it loaded with quite a few this evening and I'll let you know how it turns out.

my guess is that the browser sucks. the browser on the psp isn't that impressive and it has way more ram/processor power.

I haven't done much browsing with the new DSi. When I did load a few pages they seemed to load faster than the browser on the DS-Lite.., and I was able to load pages I had trouble with in the past using the DS-Lite. The way I look at it is the browser is at least free this time:) You're right..., the PSP's browser isn't all that great either. I rarely use the browser on my PSP. Come to think of it.., I haven't been using my PSP all that much lately.

oh i know that feeling. i mostly use it as an mp3 player and for the internet radio now. I'm still thinking about picking up traxxpad. but i really Cannot be fudged at this point. I'd rather spend the 40 bucks or so on a vl-tone :). at least then i would have a calculator i couldn't lose.

Yeah.., that internet radio is pretty nice. I'll take my PSP with me around the house sometimes just for the ability to take the internet radio into any room in my home. You're not missing much on the Traxxpad man. I've got it.., and have had it for a while now. I've been considering doing a review on it. IMO it's just ass backwards and not at all intuitive using the PSP interface. I have a few issues with it too.

Hmm, yeah see what you mean about Traxxpad. Never heard of it but just had a quick look. They should port Music 2000 from the ps1. That was deep! like a tracker+sampler with 24 tracks of audio. Nice!

I'm telling ya man! The DSi is freaking awesome! I take back everything I said about not upgrading. I've had so much fun recording my voice and taking photos with it. If you trade in your DS-Lite the upgrade will only cost you $100 (WORTH EVERY PENNY IMO!!!!)
