@vadiot Of course they didn't talk fully in Russian, David Cronenberg needed to have this movie be enjoyable for not only Russian audience. As for how actors sounded, it's based on perception. Some native speakers actually believed Viggo was native, some native speakers could tell they were foreigners, most viewers thought their accents were better than most movies where non-Russians speak in Russian/Russian accent. Yes, some actors are not Russian - but they did extensive research ie Viggo.

I just finished watching a film last night, Tattoo: Under Your Skin, on National Geographic and I'm really looking forward to seeing how Viggo and David used real Russian prisoners as subjects for realistic characteristics. I've been around tattoos since I was very young. My father is a correctional officer that deals with gang members, day in - day out.

I'm a student living in Denmark, a secular country in Northern Europe where free speech is cherished and protected. We have had cases with imposed censorship before (e.g. the Muhammed cartoon drawings), but reason has so far always prevailed in the end. I'd be happy to aid your noble cause in any way possible, though I don't think marriage might be the best way to go... Go to see the movie, it´s fabulos. Lots of suspence, tention and a realy good story. The actors do their job very good. Do not care about the negativ opions, it´s worth a look. Suport the independent cinema, this is the true cinema!

This movie is evidence that sometimes more is less. Cronenberg can be a great director (The Fly, etc.) but lately his films are overstuffed and under-developed rehashed genre exercises. They aren't as meaningful as he thinks they are AND they aren't pop films as high art. But noble attempt nevertheless.

This movie is so under rated. For me the oscar for best picture should be eiter Eastern Promises or No Country For Old Men. I can't decide. I was equally impressed by both films.

i didnt like the fight in the bath house though, not because i was intimidated, i just thought it was unrealistic. i think he should have fought the same way he did in "a history of violence" in this movie he fought kind of like a monkey.
