  • Jon: Which ay does Boy George go?

    George: Shut up Jon!!

  • So much eye candy to behold... Bono, Sting, Boy George, George Michael, Bob Geldof... yes, I included Geldof. *drools* Love them!

  • So Sting got to sing the word "sting". *giggle*

  • Boy George adds the soul to the song, great singer!

  • funny to see and hear how the smarter singers avoided to appear too dominant in the mix -- sting, paul weller etc..you see them, but you will not remember it as their song, but as the song of "simon le bon", "le bono" and "boy george michael"

  • the mellotron bass track is brillant

  • just imagine if Freddie Mercury was in that recording studio too !

. greatest group of talented guys n gals..

love looking at the fabulous cutie, Boy George...always a fan.

  • Simon Le Bon & Boy George!!! I almost FAINTED!!! XX HOTNESS!

  • omg i crack up at 3:16... what happens after that?

  • OMG @1:24 seeing Boy George & Simon Labon walk arm & arm so endearing

  • Maybe it;s just me and my computer, but the voices don't match the video .. I hate that!

  • I wonder why Morrissey and The Smith weren't there.

  • Tears for Fears WERE part of this song...They provide the drum sample at the beginning of this song. It's taken from the song "Mad World".

  • What an incredible voice Boy George has.

  • I almost drop a tear when boy george came in, you will notice in the video that they respect him well, Inspite of his struggle in alcohol and drugs his voice is still unique and did a good job here. Awesome group of artist. I just wonder why Tears for Fears did join this cause?

  • @master221969 tears for fears didnt have a major hit til 85, this was xmas 84

  • This video is full of hot ppl!:p Sting, Simon Le Bon(Duran Duran in general XD), Boy George...rawr!^^ Haha.

  • wonder why tears for fears wasn't invited

  • Jon Moss is so hot!

  • @Jess10892 i agree!

  • The good old 80's !!

  • i love all these singers. but i love midge the most.

  • Everyone has there own Favorite Singer Here but I have to say Boy George is My Favorite. His Voice is Special and Unique and I Get Goosebumps just listening to it.

  • @perpetual61 simon le bon rocks

  • @levisguy53 he is awsome!^^ Love him & Duran Duran! (:

  • check out Bono at 0:12...all fidgety lol

  • @nady22 Bono is a hottie!

  • Like how they didnt include Freddie Mercury on this, yet on the day of Live Aid.. Queen stole show..

  • SIMON is soooooo sexy.. OMG!!!

  • @beniazetka He's sweet too, I passed out from all the crazy girls & the bouncer took me backstage & when they came off the stage he stopped & made sure I was Okay

  • Damn sting is so hot.. but he looks a little stoned here

  • @hassleandhurrylife19 Marilyn said last year that there were sugar sized bags of coke there

  • @lilymacs so they didnt get paid, but they got free coke... lol that's funny, man.

  • Get off the drugs boy george

  • Boy george is so damn sexy.. his lips and eyes are just perfect. he look like a girl i can't believe it. I bet a lot of people like him during his younger years

  • No question that Boy George's voice is unique and special. In my opinion he delivers his lines with great emotion. I absolutely love it when he sings. Even a simple "OH,OH" at 7:36 and again at 7:53IS PURE MAGIC.

  • i love that solo of sting, his style and accent is really unique

  • @jaimepaulnicolas Totally agree!

  • No other benefit record after this was better. This was the best one ever.

I though that "Hear n Aid" was just stupid. That and "Hands Across America".

  • I wish there was an instrumental version of this song. I don't mean the karoke version, I mean the actual instrumental of this very song here. :-)

  • Wish the world had more Bob Geldofs

  • @friendsofbo Couldn't agree more then again we got Bono. Wish I could do more myself. Peace

  • George Michael was simply awesome as usual. Boy George has a really amazing voice and can't go wrong with Simon's part "there's no world outside your window" One of the best Christmas songs of all time

  • at the beginning, there is Sting, Bono and Simon LeBon...who could ask for more!!??

  • It is easy to forget how amazing a singer Boy George is...wow, his voice is brilliant.

  • 6:38 whos that guy, i know his first name is Jon, but I dont know his second

  • "Social significance rather than political significance" Well said, George. 5 stars for that.

  • Ahh! The hair! The earrings! The shoulder pads! Great song though.

  • " Which way will Boy George go??"

    " Shut up Jon"

    ROTFL

    gotta these those guys LOL!!!

  • Sting can sing awesome. I love that guy.

    George Michaels smooth as silk.

    Boy George sang that song

all the others, post production help. Just my opinion

look at Simon LeBon smirk at Bono...

  • Tony Hadleys voice is class too

  • i love george he's awsome!!

  • A moment in time that was captured & never to b repeated. It still moves me to tears. I was 17 yrs old when this came out & i bought 12 albums., yes 12 vinyl albums cuz i couldnt afford anymore. I still have 11 unopened. What wonderful memories this brings back. thank you & God Bless everyone!

  • Great memories for us who remember the original... tho Bono & Paul Weller look about 17!!!

  • wow Boy George has quite an ego about his singing doesn't he?

  • Based on the pre-mixer evidence presented in this video, Boy George has earned the right to have as much ego as he wants about his singing. ^_^

  • yes indeed

  • Boy George has an amazing voice it's a shame he looks like Cyndi Lauper and Marylin Mansons love child.

  • a pity freddie mercury didn't get onto this

  • True That

  • Love and light be with you George

  • WTF??

Were Boy George, John and Gary Kemp going upstairs for some man love??

Is that why George invited Simon??

    GROSS!!!

  • Someone give Sting a klenex!

  • I like his hair too ,all his look in this doc. and his funny actions and conversations.....but actually I like his eye make up most with his attractive blue eyes....of course his PERFECT VOICE is the thing that we love him so much until now!!!(he made the song become more brilliant, compare with the original version of Bob in part 1/3)

  • Huh, how can the first two parts be on here but not the third?

  • Boy George is just too funny! Love that colour hair on him. Hard to believe it 1984 when it was recorded.

  • I love the bit when Boy George says that he thought George Michael was Alison Moyet, because hes sooo camp! XD

  • How come no gals got leads?

I'd never wondered that b4, but- ... does seem like a bit of a shame/ oversight.

    Great ideals, great track.

  • thats not true...boy george got a lead..thats a girl if ever I saw/heard one..and I like him/her...

  • hahaha simon and boy george hugging xD

  • Boy George called Simon because they needed him in the recording room. Poor Simon, he looked so embarresed!

  • Actually...as ya walk in the front door the stairs lead up to the studio...plus,the REAL reason he called him over was because all those photogs were below and he wanted ta be snapped with Simon because there were never ending 'wars' between all the 'Culture Club' fans and the 'Durannies',so basically,it was a few different motivations goin on for that call to Simon (sneaky old Gina,LoL!!)Oh...and i was THERE,thass how i know all this!!Love Maz,X...

  • Hey Bob, shoulda had Thin Lizzy in there!!

  • according to midges book phil lynott was fucked on drugs about the time it was done.

  • There wore so many people that wonted to be involved, but in the end it was down to the most comically successful in 1984,

I wish they had Steve Jenson on drums, that would have been awesome!

  • Who is at 7:25?

  • Paul Weller from The Jam (you know the hit, "A town called Malice")

  • What is the weird synth sound that you hear at about 1:49-2:10 as boy george sings?

  • I think it's the bassline track; it seems like it's louder than it's supposted to be.

    ;-)

  • eso de andar ayudando a los muertos de hambre africanos es algo que nunca entendi

  • Pasate hambre de peque no? ya no tienes remedio..la desnutrición acaba con las neuronas

  • who are the girls at 8 .42

  • Bananarama!!

  • hah! Sting looks great on this, so is phil collns awesome. bono nervous but w/ great voice..boy george give george michael a run for his money...but all in all they are a bunch of profesionals...great song one of the best ever.. thanks for the upload.

  • Note Boy George drinking, haha

  • Haha, gotta love him!

  • Anyone else notice the PPG synth at 08.28? I thought Midge Ure was a DX7 man...

  • We are the world is a piece of fluff. Michael Jackson and Diana Ross, ugh. Kenny Rogers? Oh no! The raw quality is what gives this a little punch. It is more satirical than that we are the world we are the children effluvia.

  • Bullshit, just compare this to "We are the world" and hear how rakkety and raw it sounds compared to that song.

  • i was 9 when this came out.... it was on the radio and on TV 24-7. LOL! i miss the 80's.....

  • Actually, I believe George Michael outed himself from jump street, if you consider the way-gay gayness of Wham! pre-"Wake Me Up...". The lyrics, video, etc. for "Young Guns (Go For It)" spoke volumes... nonetheless I heartily agree that Boy George was the brave, nearly-lone voice for being okay with ones own sexuality in the UK pop world back then. Who else, but Boy & Pete Shelley.. and Bowie, sort-of, anyway!

  • Boy george does have a great voice for sure he is a character...

  • Gotta love Boy George confusing George Michael for Alison Moyet! Jesus...

  • I love the fact that Boy George calls out George Michael as basically being gay. And the was in 1984!!!

  • simon lebon, not george micheal!

  • Michael George!

  • simon le bon is not gay...

  • LOL. That was funny. Boy outed George Michael for years. I guess it does take a queen to know a queen. But, they are talented queens non the less.

  • i love the fact that it was boy george who "outed" george michael 20 years before he ever outed himself! Takes a queen to know a queen!

  • boy george chains rent boys to radiators

  • Boy George is pure class in this song!

  • I heard Boy george recorded his bit it in New York and they had real difficulty getting him they were saying in part 2 that he was flying in anyone know?!

  • Yeah i have heard the same thing

  • er can't you see its the same studio?????????

  • i love b george so candid!

  • do you know its christmas by band aid and usa for africa song, we are the world were amazing songs back in the 80's, they made a tremendous impact back then

  • This is a true treasure for pop-history!

Deffinently needs "Digital re-mastering",but after that, it still stays The greatest world aid fund ever!!! You did a great favour to you-tube!

  • nothing beats this original version...the later versions can't even touch this.

  • No, you don't.

This is the original, the best, the one that inspired the successors (We Are The World, etc), and the one that made the world stand up back in 1984.

No cover of this could ever compare to the original.

  • later version looks like they enjoy themselves, isn't it sad their smiling faces and dying kids mix

  • mouth sync is out but this was the best way to get the message to the world worthwhile cause of all time

  • this shows how much this singers are giving in terms of effort and how uncorrupted they are, bravo.

  • how many memories...!means that I'm old?

  • Poor Bono...he looks very uncomfortable

  • bono is like, the fidgeting most, and sting, with his big nosewipe-on-the-arm...pure class. needless to say, simon le bon wins this horse race.

  • its funny watching this now how unsure Bono is of himself-he wasn't one of the big stars then compared to now. Where are all those other people now? Some are stil around but they've had their day.

  • This was a beautiful video, thank you soo much for posting it!

  • Thanks a million times for sharing this 3-parted story!
