honestly, the mclovin subplot killed the movie for me, it would have been way better without so much focus on him. but the ending is symbolic. one goes up, the other down. they way they look at each other the last time. you understand, it means they will drift apart, they know it, their lives have changed forever. I should have cried when I saw that ending.

@red210100 same thing. a while ago, my best friend who was closer to me than half my family, someone who i had been through everything with for my half my life, was moving to california. i went to the airport with him and everything, and watched him go. on the way home in the car, this song played on the radio and all i could think of was that scene in superbad. now i'm 21 years old, but i'm not ashamed to admit that i was tearing up a bit. love this movie man.

I have to admit that I am no life long Curtis Mayfield fan and was also brought here by Superbad. But, there is no denying this is a wonderful song. And it's such an excellent song to end Superbad with. It's such an absurd and funny movie the whole time through, but in the end it's all about friendship and when this song starts it's such a bittersweet moment.

@SaskueSucks well, i think they are just beginning relationships with becca and jules. and seth is looking at evan because they've always been together as friends, and now they are moving off with other people, and as you said, off to different college's too. so its kinda like they are leaving each other, and moving on in life. i don't really know, but thats my take on it.
