Nothing can ever replace the original series or original KITT. the series could have been written more like season 2 and in a more serious fashion but every character in the series is unforgettable. Nothing now has the depth of characterization shows in those days had. Almost everything these days are cheap rewrites, empty, violent action scenes, or staged "reality" shows. KR 2008 doesn't hold a candle to the original and never will.
The original is a part of the gen x childhood, you cant duplicate it for y. Plus David Hasslehoff's interaction with Kit is what made it epic. Anyone who has to see an updated version of something from the 80's needs radiation therapy asap.

nothing will ever duplicate the excitement and enthusiasm of the original series, no matter if they want to mix Transformers with Knight Rider just to attract the younger kids, the new version is just a bunch of action scenes with no depth or character story, the old KITT had deep feelings and personality, the new KITT is nothing more than a glorified machine
I actually like the new Knight Rider, don't get me wrong- though the new KITT has to transform, fix itself and have special effects crammed into the first season alone. And still got canceled >8-(
Whereas the original KITT didn't need to do a thing but jump and relied on wit humor and speed. The old intro alone, simple as it is, was more than enough to get you hooked in. Thus created millions of fans, replicars of the souped up black Trans Am thereafter and many more years to come =D

I agree with you until the part of the new trans am... It's not that cool and does not have a futuristic look... Shelby GT500 doesn't have it either but what can we do?! Unfortunately get used to it... The original is always best... They should just have renovated the original car... Or pick one really futuristic...
If Pontiac couldn't revive the Trans Am line in time enough for them to provide the producers of the show with a car, then they shoulda just found an old 4th gen from 2002 and used that. Even that would've looked a million times better than the Mustang. Look up Cesar Gamino's "Knight Industries Three Thousand" on Knight Replicas, that would've been a perfect KITT.
I agree, the ORIGINAL Knight Rider WAS the best, I did like it when in the 3rd Season when KITT would go into Super Pursuit Mode to get to where the bad guys were much quicker too. I wish that in the new Knight Rider, David Hasselhoff and the original KITT would appear on the show, so they could compare the two KITTS, the Knight Industries 2000 along with the Knight Industries 3000, now that WOULD be cool to see two different KITTS on the same show.
This intro was better than i expected but i still prefer the old intro, David Hasselhoff & definitely the old Kitt. This new car looks too boxy to be a Kitt.
I keep getting ticked about every episode when KITT transforms into something else. first the truck, then an econoline van, then police crown vic, whats next a focus or explorer? LOL
I think the show is getting cheezy with all these transformations.

ich bin mit dem alten kitt aufgewachsen, ich kenne jede folge der serie bzw. hatte sogar hörspielkasetten.
aber ich war auch immer offen für neues, ich habe auch team knight rider gemocht.
und der neue kitt sieht einfach stylisch aus. morgen ist es hier in deutschland soweit. ich bin soooo gespannt :)
