well the difference is that when madonna paid homage, she added a lot of irony in it and said that it was indeed based on marilyn monroe's movie. gaga however denies all references completely and claims god sent her all ideas and songs. madonna also did not base half her career to marilyn or someone else. she's herself. gaga seems to adjust her personality to the icon she's referring to, yet denies it. Hmm.
