Dude, I'm looking for an FD engine for my rx8. Single turbo or twin turbo? I'm talking wiring harness, ecu, tranny, etc. How much did your engine swap cost you because I was thinking about turbo charging the renesis but For the money and power over a long period of time, I would rather swap to the FD

the stock engine of the RX8 is basically the same as RX7(excluding the turbo) but if you modify the RX8 seriously not blindly, it will be more durable than the RX7. search and you will find truth.
not very true. the rx8 engine has a higher compression ratio since it is a non turbo engine. so you will need to change rotors with low compression rotors.
the plastic inlet is not strong enough to withstand high turbo pressure.
and most important, the side ports of the renesis engine, won't allow a big porting to fit a big turbine with acceptable lag.
Am I the only person who realizes this isn't anywhere near the stock motor/turbo setup? The fact it can't catch grip at all in the first two gears shows that it's got a lot more power behind it...

oh nice car btw. i'm saving for a pettit stage 2 supercharger for my RX8. and it doesn't matter if you super/turbo/procharge your car. putting an extra compressor under you hood isn't what hurts your engine. inproper tuning is what'll bite you. all those tiny little mistakes that didn't matter at 230 horsepower become utter disasters at 400 horsepower. bottom line: know your car.
honestly i don't know why you would swap the renesis for an FD. the apex seals on the old RX7 are much weaker when compared to the RX8's. and the stock turbocharger system that came with the FD is excessivly complex and only adds to the pressure on the seals. and yes the RX8 can run higher than 8 psi. keep in mind though psi isn't an accurate way to judge performance. and prochargers are worthless on rotaries. on paper it was made to be supercharged but still responds very well to turbochargers.
you are right about the mounting points and all but...the owner is a friend of mine. it took him a lot of time to fit the engine AND the gearbox of the FD into the rx8, but now it just looks like stock ;)
check the other videos from "mayrospiravlos". in one of them you can see the engine bay of the rx8 with the FD engine inside ;)
i doubt its an FD engine,the fd engine is extremely difficult to mount in other cars, the mounting points on the engine are different to the fc and cosmo and the gearbox uses a powerplant frame connected to the diff to hold it in place, unless the rx8 has the same setup i doubt its an fd engine, i could be wrong though :)
Im afraid you are wrong my friend it is an fd engine just go to "wot rx8 13b rew" and you will see a video presentation for the car and the engine bay.
sorry not fimiliar with rotray engines it sounds like is missing,? not getting enough fuel,? to lean on air mixture,? is it or is that the way its supposed to sound?
ok they make one but that does not mean that it wont blow the motor and its better to super a 8 then turbo every one i herd that turboed an 8 said blew motor around 13000 miles after gettin it so procharge it
