Look at the tier list and you see way down more than halfway, most of the character's have 5-5 or 4-6 match-ups which is WAY better than most fighting games.

In SF4, Sagat definitely is more advantagous than the rest of the cast. Yes, half the cast has a combo into ultra, but Sagats does one of the highest damages. He also has many many ways of getting into his ultra through anti airs and such. His EX fireballs do the damage of a shoryuken and juggle =\.
I welcome the SSF4 changes, it'll make him good but only in a decent players hands.
I think the idea of sagat being OP or broken is that his tiger shots have insane recovery, his tiger knee block string, also his ultra does TONS of damage and its really easy to combo into. the DP FADC F+roundhouse ultra is about 540-602 damage I believe

A master sagat is hard to beat. The problem isn't that he's unbeatable, its that fighting him is like fighting a boss. You have to put so much work into bringing his health down and he just has to do a few uppercuts.
I'm not saying you suck but sagat doesn't have to care about frames or FADC or crossups to win.

This is an example of a Fagat who's abusing Fagat and is too dumb to know the other side of the match. I suggest you pick up Dan and fight a Sagat. Let's see how well you do then.

I don't know if your going to address my previous arguments, but in regards to what you said about his wall dive, both characters have ways to counter his wall dive, it just happens to be that your more prepared with Ryu. I'm not sure if you were just stating that, or using it in regards to Sagat not being overpowered.
LOL it really is i have a easier time playing vega with Ryu because every dive off the wall will lose to his Jumping MP i lose 7-3 to him when i was sagat but as ryu i won 8-2
Sagat also has very quick moves and various combos.
The point is, that he has advantages that many characters have, but the disadvantages are conveniently missing. Most characters don't have the luxury of a high damage fireball, let alone one that goes across the screen. Well so much for brief on my part, I probably have more to say, but I'll wait for your rebuttal.

How is it justified to give Sagat a larger body, and a projectile. The properties of said projectile are top of the line, only rivaled and surpassed by Akuma:
+70 damage on all punches (this being tied with ryu for the 2nd strongest normal projectile)
+low and high versions
+Highest Ex damage (150), trailing off akuma's 180, (but that has a charge period)
Considering the disadvantages Blanka gets for that 17 extra damage, I'd take the ability to link it any day.
Super: Although not used too often, Sagat has the ability to combo his super into various moves like many others, but into his ultra as well.
Projectile: Sagat has something that no other character above 1000 hp has, a projectile. As I shared earlier, one of Zangief's disadvantages is that he has lack of distance game, but compensates that for his extra hit point.
Again with Sagat excluded, they all have harder inputs than the stock double quarter circle motion. Blanka can do some combos into his ultra, but they are comparably harder and more limited than sagat.
Yet Sagat is only 17 points away from the strongest ultra, but shares no limits that they have, lack of links. Sagat has a VERY flexible ultra for the damage. (although a number of characters can do this) He can combo it into a jumping hard punch, (for 605 damage),
Now we have all those advantages and disadvantages for both characters in mind, now lets compare them to sagat I'll try to keep it somewhat organized:
Ultra damage:
Sagat: 583
Zangief:600
Akuma: 596
Blanka: 600 (I added him because his damage ties with Zangief's)
If we look at all of these ultras, with exception to Sagat, they tend to be more difficult to pull off in a serious match. This balances out the fact that they are the strongest ultras.
+2nd strongest ultra +various high damaging non-ex and ex combos +the only character with air projectiles +highly mobile with his teleports +strongest projectiles in the game Negatives I see with him are -2nd lowest hp in the game -Ultra cannot be comboed beyond focus attack -Suffers from a cloned super which mirrors properties of his ultra -Both give amble opportunity to dodge in most situations I'm sure there are more pros and cons to akuma, but right now those come to mind.
+effective grapples +Good pokes +strongest and high range focus attack (these are off the top of my head and there are probably more) Negatives I can think of -Although unblockable, his ultra cannot be comboed into beyond focus attack. -Slower than most characters -no projectiles -limited combos -Must be up close and personal Now if we look at Akuma, he is the only one in the group that has lower than average hp, (the 2nd lowest in fact). These are advantages and disadvantages I see

Claw +instant over head with jumpback Hp +has some of the best range in the game -Until his claw is gone +he has some of the best mixups also +2 back flips that are invincible -both flips can be punished +utl and punish fireballs -no true combos in to utl -few combos -low damage but this not fair on in my defense S-class to D-class is not an argument
I won't disagree that everyone has a combo into an ultra, its just how practical it is, but lets be specific, combing an ultra without just a level 3 focus attack. Again, observe the level of effort that has to be put to achieve the combos. Vega does 5 more damage with his ultra into focus, totaling 455 damage (with mask and claw). Its not just whether they can do a combed ultra as well, its how viable it is to use in combat, guile for example can combo his super with his ultra, but is it worth
-3+ (off the top of my head) ways (excluding focus attack), to combo into his ultra
- strong non-ex combos -low and high projectiles with quick recovery
-Strong ex combos These are just observed things I've seen of Sagat, and I'm sure there are more. But If Sagat is balenced, compare him to another character, that isn't "top tier" and you will see inconsistent balance.
I just went off into a huge rant, and could go on, but I'll let you respond first lol.
(395). I am aware that their roles are different, vega being a range "speed" character, (supposedly), and sagat being (powerful?), maybe someone else can fill that gap for me. Vega for example, loses his advantage, range, by getting hit, and his mask, which results in him taking 25% extra damage, and gaining 10% attack power. Effectively making him very fragile.
Yet think about Sagat, a character that has: -Above average hp
-An ultra that does 583 (one of the most damaging ultras)
the effort or damage to do so? I think you know the answer to that question. You can tell character balance in a game by the difference between the strongest and weakest characters. I may not play Sagat, but I just did a simple jump in combo with no ex meter, and I did 376 damage, (j Hp -> MP -> hp tiger uppercut), and 400 with ex, which both easily beat out Vega's combos even with out fadc'ing. Not to mention that the latter 400 damage combo can beat Vega's ultra combo damage without his claw
Do you even know how comparably difficult it is to land his focus ultra combo? That really should be a given, and your at the mercy of the position of the screen I might add. As opposed to someone who can connect his ultra In many ways and forms for much more damage. Look up how many matches with Vega you see them use an ultra after a focus, and you'll find thats a minority. Find a video with a sagat comboing into his ultra, its harder to not find a decent sagat doing so.
You may be right, the only one I play from those I mentioned is Akuma, but I've never seen combos into ultra by the rest. The combo for Dan that you mentioned has to be annoying if you have to use the super meter too. Blanka I've always seen his ultra be used as a counter. Same with Rose. Idk though I never tried playing those characters. I'll test this stuff later. Appreciate the info.

Gouken's counter, and throw are kinda broken. Although his throw, you basically have double the time to tech then normal throws. And gouken got a lot of weaknesses.

Not everyone has a combo into ultra. Plus, some have combos that do more hits and thus, if you combo into them do far less then Sagat or Ryu's combos into ultra.
There is only 2 ppl in the game that doesn't have it and that Blanka and Honda but As far as Sagats ult he has flaws in the corner it only does about 5 maybe 6 hits out of 12 or 13 and its scales.........Ryu's ult doesnt scale until 10 to 13 hits it does more i test this utl does about 400 full alone then when combo into it it does more

I don't know if your going to address my previous arguments, but in regards to what you said about his wall dive, both characters have ways to counter his wall dive, it just happens to be that your more prepared with Ryu. I'm not sure if you were just stating that, or using it in regards to Sagat not being overpowered.

Sagat also has very quick moves and various combos.
The point is, that he has advantages that many characters have, but the disadvantages are conveniently missing. Most characters don't have the luxury of a high damage fireball, let alone one that goes across the screen. Well so much for brief on my part, I probably have more to say, but I'll wait for your rebuttal.

How is it justified to give Sagat a larger body, and a projectile. The properties of said projectile are top of the line, only rivaled and surpassed by Akuma:
+70 damage on all punches (this being tied with ryu for the 2nd strongest normal projectile)
+low and high versions
+Highest Ex damage (150), trailing off akuma's 180, (but that has a charge period)
+fast and quick recovery.
+Lower ex can be comboed into ultra.

Considering the disadvantages Blanka gets for that 17 extra damage, I'd take the ability to link it any day.
Super: Although not used too often, Sagat has the ability to combo his super into various moves like many others, but into his ultra as well.
Projectile: Sagat has something that no other character above 1000 hp has, a projectile. As I shared earlier, one of Zangief's disadvantages is that he has lack of distance game, but compensates that for his extra hit point.

Again with Sagat excluded, they all have harder inputs than the stock double quarter circle motion. Blanka can do some combos into his ultra, but they are comparably harder and more limited than sagat.
Yet Sagat is only 17 points away from the strongest ultra, but shares no limits that they have, lack of links. Sagat has a VERY flexible ultra for the damage. (although a number of characters can do this) He can combo it into a jumping hard punch, (for 605 damage),

Now we have all those advantages and disadvantages for both characters in mind, now lets compare them to sagat I'll try to keep it somewhat organized:
Ultra damage:
Sagat: 583
Zangief:600
Akuma: 596
Blanka: 600 (I added him because his damage ties with Zangief's)
If we look at all of these ultras, with exception to Sagat, they tend to be more difficult to pull off in a serious match. This balances out the fact that they are the strongest ultras.

I will keep my next response a little more "brief"
If we compare Sagat to 2 characters, Zangief and Akuma, then maybe it will be more apparent that the odds are stacked in Sagat's favor.
Zangief has the most health in the game, 1200 hp, Sagat 1100, and Akuma 850.
Zangief has the most health not only for ascetic reasons, but because of his direct style of gameplay. Advantages for him would include
+Tied with Blanka for the strongest ultra in the game (600 damage)
+1200 hp (highest)

I won't disagree that everyone has a combo into an ultra, its just how practical it is, but lets be specific, combing an ultra without just a level 3 focus attack. Again, observe the level of effort that has to be put to achieve the combos. Vega does 5 more damage with his ultra into focus, totaling 455 damage (with mask and claw). Its not just whether they can do a combed ultra as well, its how viable it is to use in combat, guile for example can combo his super with his ultra, but is it worth

-Strong ex combos These are just observed things I've seen of Sagat, and I'm sure there are more. But If Sagat is balenced, compare him to another character, that isn't "top tier" and you will see inconsistent balance.

(395). I am aware that their roles are different, vega being a range "speed" character, (supposedly), and sagat being (powerful?), maybe someone else can fill that gap for me. Vega for example, loses his advantage, range, by getting hit, and his mask, which results in him taking 25% extra damage, and gaining 10% attack power. Effectively making him very fragile.
Yet think about Sagat, a character that has: -Above average hp
-An ultra that does 583 (one of the most damaging ultras)

the effort or damage to do so? I think you know the answer to that question. You can tell character balance in a game by the difference between the strongest and weakest characters. I may not play Sagat, but I just did a simple jump in combo with no ex meter, and I did 376 damage, (j Hp -> MP -> hp tiger uppercut), and 400 with ex, which both easily beat out Vega's combos even with out fadc'ing. Not to mention that the latter 400 damage combo can beat Vega's ultra combo damage without his claw

Do you even know how comparably difficult it is to land his focus ultra combo? That really should be a given, and your at the mercy of the position of the screen I might add. As opposed to someone who can connect his ultra In many ways and forms for much more damage. Look up how many matches with Vega you see them use an ultra after a focus, and you'll find thats a minority. Find a video with a sagat comboing into his ultra, its harder to not find a decent sagat doing so.

yoyo, it's not that sagat can combo into ultra. His set up for it and exicution is way to easy, and it does high damage.
Spamming tiger shots will put pressure on the opponent to jump in. Tiger Upper cut, cancel, spinning kick ultra.
Only few characters have ultras that easy to pull off.
Ryu can, yet his ultra isn't as powerful. Sagat has a powerful ultra which is easy to use.
Sagat is broken, i win, stfu.

You may be right, the only one I play from those I mentioned is Akuma, but I've never seen combos into ultra by the rest. The combo for Dan that you mentioned has to be annoying if you have to use the super meter too. Blanka I've always seen his ultra be used as a counter. Same with Rose. Idk though I never tried playing those characters. I'll test this stuff later. Appreciate the info.

Gouken's counter, and throw are kinda broken. Although his throw, you basically have double the time to tech then normal throws. And gouken got a lot of weaknesses.
Why sagat is broken. More Hp then most, his uppercut (A good reason) has insaaane priority, it beats everything. His moves do insane damage. His ex fireball does more damage then a freaking fierce uppercut lol. He can use all his specials as anti-air. Just like ryu he can ultra without FADC, but it does way more damage. etc etc

There is only 2 ppl in the game that doesn't have it and that Blanka and Honda but As far as Sagats ult he has flaws in the corner it only does about 5 maybe 6 hits out of 12 or 13 and its scales.........Ryu's ult doesnt scale until 10 to 13 hits it does more i test this utl does about 400 full alone then when combo into it it does more
