Max, I have owned "This is a Recording" several times in my life but ppl always want to borrow and not return. I plan to get it one more time from Amazon I guess unless there is a better place. Can you post "According to Anthony" and maybe some others off that album?
dayamed... straight. :D thanks.. for taking me back when i was 40! LMFAO! oh, i found new love and an old car. sighs... :D now i'm an old woman, not complaining, now youtube and you guys bring this all back like those coke a cola renditions, it's the flavor, the flavor that takes you back home.
They broke up and Billy is making records with his KIDS now.....I called one of the band members a few years ago. Alas, they aren't going to reunite. Still my favorite group of all time.
@misanthrope8 Well,Jimmy(Flim)Johnson has been playing bass for Allan Holdsworth since the mid '80'sJimmy was one of the first(if not THE first)to use a five string bass.
Jimmy Jonshon is AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME.... I'll run out of space. I wish way too much that these guys, good friends, awesome musicians, would come together again under Jung's producership
Actually, this album (and the next) was produced and engineered by the legendary George Massenburg and this was their most accessible work. Massenburg gave them not only the fantastic sonics they were known for, but added a stylistic flair that took them to another level. Like layering synth keys with Barber's piano, and bringing in guitarist John Landau on some tracks. More amazing is the tracks were done live in studio.
I am not different than the rest of you. I was intorduced to New Pants on cassette at the dollar store (2 cassettes for a buck) What a talented band. There deserved a lot more recognition then they ever got.
My favorite group from their beginning! Got my first CD (Tricycle) free with the purchase of a Bose audio system. The Bose people used it as a demo CD. Bought every one of their CD's as soon as they came out. Never understood why I had to keep telling people who they were!!!
Flim (Jimmy Johnson) and the BBs (Bill Berg, Billy Barber) with Dick Oatts - Great group, was actually the first jazz group to record on CD (1978?). Very musical group with audiophile awareness. I have all their CDs, and enjoy them on my iPod. I did a quick search, and found several links where their music can still be purchased. Dig around, they are worth the trouble.
true mr. max. actually they were one of the first bands to put anything on disc. Tricycle was there first album if I'm not mistaking. they purposely added tape hiss on the cd... very cool.
