  • I used a much bigger capacitor so that it would cover the whole band without switching in extra gangs. This meant I had only four turns of wire on a 4 foot square.

I agree though, it's not noticeably better than the 20 inch square and ten turns of wire I usually make.

  • I have made both a 2 foot and 4 foot loop, and I had the same experience that the 4 foot loop didnt seem to increase the signal a great deal over a 2 foot version.

  • I find difference on weaker signals but not regulars

  • 9 turns of wire 48 inch square - 67.88 inch cross arms wire spacing 0.875 inches. Vari cap from old radio A real killer with a little radio. I direct connect it to an rx by placing about 15 turns of wire on an approx 6 inch ferrite rod and feeding that back to the radio via coax. Works great.

  • Post the plans for it! PLEASE!

  • Here are the plans - 9 turns on a 48 inch square - cross arms are 67.88 inches- wire spacing is 0.875 inches- tuned with a vari cap from an old radio - I get full coverage from this 530-1700 khz by switching in more than one gang - dont know rating of said varicap - it isnt the one shown in the video. After using the loop for a while I found it to be very very good.

  • Thats really good there, If I built that myself the radio station WVAB and WBVA would actually put a hole in the RF front end of my S-350DL cause the field would be so strong, because I am located in the 23462 area in Virginia Beach. Great loop though. I might consider thinking about building that for LW in the future.
