I'll add one more: Marathi youths do not speak Hindi, or mingle with native Hindis as naturally as Northerners. And Hindi is important in the business sector, which often operates on a nationwide basis.
In which Indian state will you not find millions of unemployed youth? The main reason for this is India's unsustainable population. So, are migrants from other states solely to blame for the woes of Marathi youth? Raj Thackeray never mentions the population factor.
Reality is that Marathi people in Mumbai simply think it below their dignity to work jobs like dudhwalla and sabjiwallah. So, most of these vocations are dominated by N. Indians. Also, the Maharashtra government has not done much to make Marathi marketable in the commercial sector. And only this year did the state government make English compulsory from 1st standard. So, that has contributed to rife unemployment in Marathi youth. Add to that the lack of business acumen in the average Marathi.
Karnataka is different. Marathi and Hindi share a lot of vocabulary, whereas South Indian languages are quite different from Hindi. So, Marathis can speak Marathi with relative ease, compared to Kannadigas. That explains Karnataka's "ghattata."

Also, people from other states come to Maharashtra as the state has for long been an industrial powerhouse, and the vast majority of people can understand or speak Hindi. And then labor shortage in sectors like construction, and the lack inclination of most Marathi people toward the business sector.

Pune has only 38% of local population (i.e. Marathi). IT has 20% North Indians,10% Tamilians, 14% Telugus, 10% Keralites, 8% Europeans, 5% Africans, 2% Bengalis and 6% a mixture of all races.

when britishers left india they said three thing for our country 1) Indian will even trade their mother for profit 2) India will be ruled by goons 3) You don't need any outsider to destroy India, Indian will always keep fighting among self for any and every reason....Also cause of our attitude we were ruled by others for very long time cause we are always hard for our people...see where we stand....love your country first and do something.
