  • I still have my master system with the controllers and lazer gun. Wondering if I should Ebay it or keep it. And it still plays Zillion and other games like it's brand new.

  • @hootyhaha Keep it,you'll be sorry later... Besides,what's money without a Sega?

  • @WHITEEAGLEns Good point. Now I have a reason to keep it all :) Guess all I have to do now is start looking for cartridges to buy. Like ZOOM. I can only find it for Sega Genesis, but I thought I remembered it for SMS too. Although that was a long time ago and I know I could be remembering wrong.

  • @hootyhaha I think that Zoom is not a Mater System game, but keep searching for those cartridges,I collect MegaDrive/Genesis cartridges and its quite enjoyable hunt:-)

  • @hootyhaha

Definately keep it. They will only get rarer and even now the master system is far more uncommon then say a genesis. At most you could maybe get 50 bucks for it and for a console that is only going to get rarer, that is an insult to sell at. Besides, you don't need 50 bucks that bad do you?

  • SEGANO MASTAH SYSTEHUM LEGENDO

  • I liked the Genesis never even heard of the master system until recently, only of NES

  • @f00tbol The Master System had a slot in the front that took credit card like games, I thought that was revolutionary back then, I don't remember many games in that format though but I had alex the kidd on it. I also ended up with a master system 2. Sonic the frickin hedgehog was already built into the machine!!! and another revolution was born.

  • wait what?

  • Sega's got huge love for the Wii! You should play Ghost Squad, House of the Dead, Sonic Colors and download some classic Master System & Genesis/Megadrive games to the Wii via the Virtual Console service.

  • i wonder if the sega master system is as big as i thought

  • Very cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!

  • The announcer is stupid. He's not talking right.

  • The Sega Master System,I had a NES and Atari 7800,then one day a spoiled friend of mine who always had everything brought this bad boy over, put in this game called Phantasy Star,1st RPG I played and hooked for life,it looked way better than Final Fantasy NES,both great games though, graphics don't make great games, most RPG games today have to much movie crap in them,if I wanted to watch a bad movie, I'd just turn on Lifetime.........sorry,I'm rambling

  • I HATE JAPANESES!

  • @mcezar they say that english is the hardest language to learn but they are wrong

  • I have never seen a SMS in the wild before. I just play SMS games on PS3 or computer. It is a shame Sega is not in the console making area of gaming anymore. The Dream Cast could have really saved the company.

  • we need sega back in hardware so games can be good again.

  • @noideac yes we do

the ringwide and the ringedge are sopose to be their new thing

  • masta siste!

  • théééééééégaaa <3

  • MASTA SYSTEMU!!!!!!11!!eleven!!!

    NEW SOFTO!1!!!

    THSEEHHHGAAAAA!!!111

  • The reason Sega is a sinking ship today:

All the creative geniuses back in the 80s and 90s who created franchises like sonic, left in the mid 2000s as the company was stripped of any pride, of any goals, becoming a rather dull 3rd party software maker with a past that was irrelevant by that point. They even got rid of the SEGA chant. Someone has to take over SegaSammy and hire back all the people that left, and fire the new idiots!

  • I HEAR THAT!!!!!!!!!!

  • @drivojulianrobotnik You sir are my hero.

  • @drivojulianrobotnik who hired the baffoons anyways!

  • @drivojulianrobotnik

You're dumb. Name some names of who left...cuz you cant.

The system bit because there hardly was any 3rd party support.

  • @damienmetalwind Yuji Naka, creator of Sonic, and the majority of sonic team is an example. A lot of AM-2 also left, and Yu Suzuki has not been working full time for a long time and is rumored to be retired!

When a company gets rid of its 1 major identifying thing, in sega's case the chant, they are no longer that company but a new mutant using the same name.

  • @drivojulianrobotnik

    That's just silly.

Companies change slogans and staff all the time. It keeps things from getting stale. Nintendo doesn't say "Now you're playing with power" anymore. They have a bunch of new people on staff, too, and they're doing okay.

Sega didn't start sucking simply because they stopped saying "Sega." People stopped buying sega because they didn't haven as many good games as other systems did. That's it.

  • @damienmetalwind I guess Apple should get rid of the Apple logo and use a pear then.

  • You're serious? Apple could do that, as long as they kept making Ipods and stuff that people want. They could change their Logo to a steaming turd, and it wouldn't matter because people just like the products.

Sega didn't even change their name, just their slogan. Every company does that eventually--nothing to vry about. The problem with sega today is that their products came across as sub standard. Dreamcast was their last shot, but PS2 was more than a game system, it was a status symbol.

  • @drivojulianrobotnik To be fair Sega only really had one big console, the Master System lost out to the NES, the Saturn was unmercifully massacred by the PS1 and the Dreamcast was done as soon as the PS2 came out. The Mega Drive was their raison d'etre the only console they made that competed in it's generation and in Europe the Mega Drive was far more popular.

  • @drivojulianrobotnik Who says Sega is a sinking ship today?

Do you guys ever watch stockmarket or play any games younger than 25+ years?

Or you still live in NES vs SMS wars of the 80ies?

  • @drivojulianrobotnik actually, the SEGA chant is back and is used in the current logo.

  • @drivojulianrobotnik

Dude you are so right. Sega is a mere shadow(no pun intended...) of what it was. They had the best creative teams in the world making videogames, even better than Nintendo. Games like Nights, Panzer Dragoon Saga and Burning Rangers for teh Saturn, Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue for the Dreamcast, to name a few are a testament of how original and awesome their games were. Everyone knows what happened to Sega, but if theer is a company i would like to see back in top, its them.

  • @drivojulianrobotnik The new people are really trying to capture the old games. Otherwise we wouldn't have games like Sonic 4 and Sonic Generations. But I agree, it's just not the same and never will be. Those days are gone and people who miss them should just play the older games because we won't get that kind of game-making style back ever again.

  • @MrSaturn33 that is just because people like you don't have a heart anymore in playing games a true gamer know what i'm talking about but you obviously is heartless only think about the so called "new generation" style of games that really gets bored lately it is same graphics nothing original anymore. A true gamer with heart and passion should know its history of the first computer/console game to nowadays . NEVER forget the past you are so wrong...

  • @defiraphi Dude, let's look over what I said. I said that the new developers are trying to capture the magic of the older games. They MEAN well. They made Sonic 4 and Sonic Generations to try and please people like you. I went on to say that those days are gone and no new game can re-capture them. Clearly, you stick to older games so I can't find anything wrong with my last statement either. If you like older games, play the older games...Older games are generally better. Old PCs are awesome.

  • @MrSaturn33 well making Sonic 4 was not the solution either , is a sort of homage they did wow nice . But more in generaly the new generation people are kinda jealous of our times where all the magic got created its a fact and no one can hide that . now nothing really is new at all they only made it better or to make it clear the concept of a product that already existed they made it better now is all plain and simple. But no one will see the windows been made again , but we can remember it ...

  • @MrSaturn33 even for the first consoles that went made such a beautiful thing , the first game(s) pac-man , solitaire , a black screen with green letters . and yes older games are always better same as old computers :) , sure you will have those sayings too when being older ' ah in my young time it was better... ' lol just a little sense of humor . the solution was that the real great creators shouldn't stop making valuable games / programs not half the shit they sell now that isn't worth alot

  • 50% of the games from these last 15 years are not worth alot and will be forgotten or is already , in not even 2months or lesser . Alot games are reviews from others that already got made just an easy example : wolfenstein, doom, quake, serious sam, bioshock, return of castle wolfenstein, medal of honor etc..... are all the same concept of game , overall it means to open doors and shoot , hall ways , nice captivating music etc... same goes for other styles of games or such of course

  • @MrSaturn33 where was the time when they fought for the video-cards voodoo 1 voodoo 2 , Riva TNT 4bit , 8bit, 16bit , the magic of the sounds, soundblaster, soundblaster pro, neo galaxys and so on .... now all this is done no more concurency , no more valuable ideas everything is too easy , too lazy , too nothing ,where the real creators( Sega,Nintendo,...) should have continue the way it was and make it way better than nowadays with those new idiots creators without a future

  • @drivojulianrobotnik i completely missed the commercial because this comment and it is so very true

  • @drivojulianrobotnik

their last console was build 1997 !

    first console the Periscope,

  • who ever makes fun of japan is night right but the languge is confusing

  • sseegaaa XD how heavenly

  • u cant say

    say- gaa without going

doo do doo doo do do do do doo

    sonic ftw

  • The graphics on this system outweighed the NES just a little bit.

  • I'm not afraid to say it.. I love SEGA! They make good games they had great consoles, and they were the ONLY possible compitition for Nintendo. Ever. And lets not forget the blue blur with an attitude... sonic! I don't care what any of you say, sonic and SEGA will not die, especially when i take over the company!

  • Sonic has been murdered........he has been thrashed to shit with all these shitty games

    Sonic and Knuckles

    Sonic and Tails

    (great games)

every sonic game in that time period was great

    after that.....shit went downhill

  • when you take over a company, please make some good new sonic games, and good consoles.:)

  • Segaaa! Classic.

  • masta sistemu

  • Translation...$170 US.

  • seeeeeeeyga!

  • Sega genesis the nr1

  • Mhmm, that's why it still exists, amiright?

  • SEEEEYGAAAA!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • intresting that some games on the MSystem are better than the NES

  • most of them.. I prefer :3

  • @PKUltimaga

The real thing that the Master System has over the NES is build quality. Whenever I want to play my NES I have to spend almost 10 minutes cleaning everything, taking the cart back out, squeezing it back in, yelling at, and fiddling around with the spring door to make it play one game.. only to have it start blinking in the middle of a game.

My Master System starts up perfectly every time, and functions flawlessly.

  • chinkys lol

  • i wish sega was making consoles again and if they put time in the making

  • SEEEEEEEEEEGAAAAAAAA!!

  • The price of this is 16800 yen. That means today it must be f!@#ing cheap. About $165-170

  • SEGA!!!

  • dis was my first console!!! i still got it whit almost all my games ^_^ cause im a big sega fan...

  • I found a master system in a flea market with 2 games and 2 controllers for 14.99 didn't bought instead I got a NES 2(toploder) that was 19.99 with Metroid and Donkey kong both were 99 cents.

  • I thought Japan didn't get the MasterSystem, i always thought it was the S G - 1000 MKIII.

  • they had both

the master system is a reshelled mk3

  • |:( what was with sega back then they always bashed nintendo (they didnt bash in this vid though) im pretty sure i'll get a low grade on this comment.

  • SEGA !!!!! LOL!!!

  • wtf???

  • This is awesome, how did you get it?

  • i was confused about not seeing sonic in that commercial.

  • he wasn't thought of till the 90's

  • indeed, Alex the kid was Sega's mascot at the time.

Man Sonic brought so much magic to Sega it's a phenom

  • oh...

  • man there are alot of systems and numbers with the system game if someone collects every systen id be impresses

  • WHAT

     BECOMES A LEGEND MOST ?

  • SEEEEGAAA!

  • hmmm errr no aucualy djfrost313,i recall that saga sound on the start up from many games from the master system,i.e sonic 1 just from the top of my head.

  • Sonic 1 on the Master System doesn't have the Sega scream, at least not my version. The Game Gear version, however, does.

  • That sega sound at the end was from the mega drive which when this ad was out wasnt invented yet.

  • No the "Sega" at the end is from around 1986 onwards and was on all the japanese Master system ads.

  • i've seen that sound back to 1983 on some commercials.

  • Masta Sistemooo! kkkkk

  • lol

  • Mastaa Zistemo

  • i got the SG1000, the first machine Sega ever released, any commercials for that?

  • look up SG1000. the one with the screenshot of a bunch of games is a Japanese 1984 ad.

  • whoa i want a sg1000. you can get 200-300 bucks off of one :-)

  • no start button?!

  • A doubled for non-pause start functions; there was a pause button on the console itself.

  • Correct! Although 'A' is known as '1' on my controllers. =P

  • I used to go to my friends house to play the Sega Master system boy it was a lot of fun. I miss playing Shinobi.

  • the master system was awesome

  • dream cast was better

  • My 1st Console system when i was like 8years old think i got it in 88 or 89 had some great games for its time
