they come beacuse you can do flying training in western australia almost every day especially around the jandakot to merredin route. also australia has a high standard of pilot training.

i think they come for the English environment, not for flying skills. They get more flying training in other countries.

China Southern Airlines is the only airline that will Fly the Vancouver to Guangzhou route and Guangzhou to Vancouver routein 2009, when the Aibus A380 comes! This route is actually very popluar. I went on it but i had to have a connecting flight, from vancouver to Tokyo to Guangzhou!

Though i'm not sure about the chinese standards, i don't think it'll be easy for them to really involve flying in a big air plane like 737...

I think the airline is lacking pilots because it's buying so many air planes every year... China Southern has booked 380 as well.

their english is better than I thought. It's good they train in an English dominant ATC system. but with 250 and a type conversion these young pilots step into 737s and 320s, that's unthinkable by American standards. As a chinese private pilot who's been flying for years in New York, I can't imagine them doing as well as western commercial pilots.

Potentials absolutely. It's a matter of how much of that has been realized by the time they step into the right seat of a jet airliner.

hey windy - chinese student pilot here in the cross-country stage. yeah i agree with you - they'd get out with commercial multi-engine plus instrument and CFI, with 250 hours and total and god knows how much multi-engine time? in the U.S. here multi-engine time is everything and we fly regionals to build that too.. i don't know how they can step right into a 737..

Hi there Highwing. Chinese private pilot here. It's nice to meet you. I think it's a matter of how regulations are laid out, backed by what the pilot market needs are like. I bet you and I can go through a week of transational training, step into a 737 and on a good day, we won't crash it. Will that make us jet commercial pilots here in the U.S.? No. But in China...pretty much yes. Thank God they at least set higher bars for the left seats.
