WIYA? Astro Boy (2009 Film) Review

I am an Astro Boy fan and i really didn't like the movie. I MEAN SEREOUSLY GUYS! ARE YOU MISSING SOMTHING FROM THE MOVIE. I mean Atlas Uran and Hamegg was REALLY skinny. What Happened to Dr.Tenma's Craziness? Dr.Elefun/Oshay turned Austrilian. Wheres the lazers shooting out from his fingers? Geesh there's alot they forgot xP

I actually consider Astro to be my favorite manga/anime character, just like how Superman is my favorite comic book superhero. I'm just sick of the badass/dark/loudmouth/hot blooded heroes that's used a lot in anime nowadays.

Atlas is not in the movie... Nor is Uran... I feel sorta like someone shot me in my head. and do not wanna see the movie now.

How can the writers NOT include Atlas ??? Uran was sooooo flamboyant in the 80s series, and she will be missed too.

I guess, that I am more attached to the colour series. Atlas does die in the end anyways (OOOOPS SORRY) But, watch it yourself, and you WILL CRY.

I'm not an anime eek who whant's to be tatally fiel.

However i admit that the 200`s anime/cartoon it's very bether.

Bother's me a litle all the comparations with the 60`s cartoon, that i never see.

To be true this movie is the worst ci movie I ever see in my life.

It's not funny and the history don't have nothing that I don't see 1000 times before. in a lot of places before.

This movie is so great and I don't get why it's not doing better and why movie critics were down on it. Well, the Iron Giant was kickass and it didn't do well at the box office, so I guess some great things are too good for their time. I didn't know WHAT to expect when I gave this movie a chance but damn I'm glad I did. Best animated movie of the year IMO.

really! i thought this was the worse movie of the year. the movie start pretty good then it falls flat in the end. nothing original. skip this just watch up. monster vs. aliens or ice age 3. these are better movies!

Thanks for the review. The movie is well done. Just got back from watching it.

I enjoyed it a lot. And I loved the political messages it had. Only sad little Republicans will pee their pants and cry to their mommy's and be angry at the political overtones.

Overall, I highly recommend it.

When the trailers were first coming out and that all (or many) of the anime fans were outraged and I remember thinking that I actually thought it looked pretty decent. But I guess I can't tell until I watch it ^^

To be honest, I have no intentions of seeing this film for 2 reasons:

1. Never was a big fan of Astro Boy

2. Given Hollywood's past with anime, I would not want to see it

Pretty Solid Review, I was a little skeptical because it was an american production but at the same time wasn't because it wasn' t in live action.

I may go see this movie even if I have little to no knowledge on the original Astro Boy :D

Yeah, I guess I was lucky to see it early. I wasn't expecting much when I was about to watch this movie but I ended up enjoying it. I mean I have seen so many anime turn to movies for a western audience and most of them ended badly but this one stays true to the essence of Tezukas work and I am really glad that it was. There was even a character that looks like Tezuka himself. I couldn't help but smile. It's definite one of my Top 5 movies based on an anime.

I can't even name 5 (liev-action) movies based on anime that were worth watching, much less a "top 5." (Technically, this is animated, so it's sort of still anime, no?)
