Hey Donnie you are really good! this is the type of Muay Thai I want to learn, but the schools around me teach like MMA style which I don't want to learn. Do you think you know any schools in Brooklyn, NY that teach the real Muay Thai style. Thanks.
.....but i got a better cellphone the very next day. What i'm saying is, nothing is worth your life, so if your being robbed, just give' em your stuff, you wont regret it. Know a days i'm alot more aware of my surroundings and i try to avoid bad places, haven't been mugged anymore =)
I've been mugged 3 times, only once with a gun (i'm not even sure, he kept it under his sleeve). There's something i rarely see instructors adress, what if the robber keeps the gun close to his body? That's what happened to me.I'd like to know what i could've done. But i tell ya,the first time i got mugged it was 2 guys, unarmed, and they didn't take anything {had my 20 bucks in my shoe ;) },second time, possibly armed, only took a shitty cellphone (i had 2),last time,5 guys, took another cellphone.....
@PeresHenrique The best self defense technique in your case is to move in your mother's basement. That should you keep you safe from the chronic mugging.
@FoolKilah HUAHAUAUAH! Not bad. LOL! Thanks bro. But don't worry, i've gotten alot bigger since those days were i got mugged, plus i noticed that preventing robberies have alot to do with your atitude while walking in streets and stuff. If you give off the vibe that your confident and sure of yourself, people wont mess with you. Muay Thai training helps too ;)
doragzed...I guess I should have figured on the repetitive motions possibly breaking a figure. BUT, I think the point I was mainly worried about was why I asked my question to begin with:: IF the person's finger IS inside the trigger guard, and you attempt ANY of these moves, I would imagine the firearm would discharge 99.9% of the time.
very good martial artist! but the gun is to near by the head, maybe painfull if you have to shoot ;) (joke) sorry for my english, im german and i´m working on it.
This was amazing. But exactly how did you defend yourself against those haymakers/hooks? Can you make a video on your defenses and counters on that? I saw you had many different ways of doing so :/
Is there anyway you could break down how you catch/take the gun from your opponent? I've always wanted to learn street defense vs a gun and the Muay Thai classes I've been taking only refer to in the ring and just a bit of "what if" situations if your attacker is unarmed. I really enjoy your uploads and hope for a response! Thanks for putting these on youtube.
@pahhhoul If you absolutely have to disarm, then you'll have to (slowly) close the distance - there are different ways to achieve this - but really, if the gunman is that far away, you just toss him your wallet/phone and get out. When the gunman is as close as portrayed in the video, the risk of him using the gun as it is intended goes way up.
@whotookdonnierules u grabbed the guys gun but when u grabbed it the gun was still pointed at ur chest wouldnt he of shot u already i mean gun defense really shouldnt be used until u know he has an intention to kill u that way u have nothin to lose if he wants money or wat ever just give it to him
@pahhhoul Also it should be pointed out is the use of angles. When you close in at an angle it forces the person's eyes to readjust and refocus. Even at 10 feet, if the gun is aimed you can still close the gap within 2 to 3 even footsteps while trying to talk the gunman down. This is STILL a very risky move but your chances of survival actually increase the closer you get to him. This HAS to be done slowly, like Donnie says. Sudden moves = reaction. Talking helps to distract too.
@xMrPopeyex the finger is held outside of the trigger guard so it does not get broken in training, if it was in the trigger guard it can easily and probably will be broken on many of these disarms. The gun will probably discharge in the exchange, that is why he takes it off line immediately.
Nice work Donnie! A few things that I can't help but notice; when you have control of the gun, you hold it close to your body, that's good. But don't hold it so close to your face! In these instances you would risk getting hit in the eye by an ejected case, and hit in the eye by the slide. :/ It also makes a loud bang, so keep it a little more away from your ears for that reason too. Also, dont grip the slide when you've turned the gun on him. That can cause a malfunction. Practice clearing it!
0:53 hey no offence, but wouldn't it deadlier if you knee his ball and elbow behind his head?
