It struck me being away from home over 150 Plus days while was wife was pregnant with our first born son made the thought of a soldiers life even more emotional to me!!!
I lost a dear friend in the army, who saved me life and 5 others in iraq, he was a great comander, always told us to keep faith and whatever happends out there that where all family and fighting for the same reasons. They played this song at his funeral wich over 3 thousand people attended. I thank you david. You will be missed. May god rest your soul. We will never for get you. Alpha

We need to think about the ones who were injured in Iraq and came back to only be medic retired............he injured his shoulder but could no longer preform his dutys in security forces...... my friend was only 26 and all he wanted to do was continue to serve his country...........he took his own life last year...........

On the way to the show, I was passed by a motorcade that included the body of a Marine killed in action in Afghanistan. (state police motorcade, patriot guard riders).
THis songs is so good, but when i hear it, i think of my two cusins that died last year. One was a Humvee driver in the 32 Infantry Brigade. killed by an IED. The other one was a Cavalry Scout in the 116 Cavalry Brigade. Died while investigating a house in Afgan. May you guys rest in peace, and i hope everyone else's loved ones come home safely and not in bodie bags.

@COfreedomfighter and Jace981... those of us who did make make it back will always honor those who had the strength to put on the uniform as family. the bravest never made it home...... i am the last of my team... i lost my last brother last year. they are in a better place, and they KNOW what true peace is. :-) God has a special place for soldiers in heaven as we have witnessed firsthand the true horrors of hell.

On the way to the show, I was passed by a motorcade that included the body of a Marine killed in action in Afghanistan. (state police motorcade, patriot guard riders).
Made this song even more emotional.

THis songs is so good, but when i hear it, i think of my two cusins that died last year. One was a Humvee driver in the 32 Infantry Brigade. killed by an IED. The other one was a Cavalry Scout in the 116 Cavalry Brigade. Died while investigating a house in Afgan. May you guys rest in peace, and i hope everyone else's loved ones come home safely and not in bodie bags.

@COfreedomfighter and Jace981... those of us who did make make it back will always honor those who had the strength to put on the uniform as family. the bravest never made it home...... i am the last of my team... i lost my last brother last year. they are in a better place, and they KNOW what true peace is. :-) God has a special place for soldiers in heaven as we have witnessed firsthand the true horrors of hell.

when my buddy killed himself after we got back from Iraq he had military honors at his funeral and the radio station played this song as we took his body to the grave site

yeah,it started in Viet Nam. my husband was there twice,thank God he came back home.God bless all our service people. Tim did a wonderful job with this . it always makes me cry to everytime I hear it.
