  • Que interesante y informativo.

  • His speaking voice is quite baritone. Amazing how he can "make" his voice to lyric tenor range......

  • @philster611

I don't understand why you would think his speaking voice is baritonal? It has a very distinctive tenor quality. I agree he doesn't speak with a C.T. dominate sound, but it is still very 'tenorish' in quality.

  • @SheilaSkulk It has tenor quality but also has a more baritonal resonance...

  • Thank God he recorded during the digital age.

  • Spreading all over the place!

  • How do you spell Incomparable ?

  • @BlueSharkVP6 you spell it that way : PAVAROTTI :)

  • A true voice from God. Simply put, he was the best of all time.

  • @mario35213 ci puoi giurare

  • Oh Lucy - now look what you've done. You made me cry!

  • i miss maestro so much

  • LP was overrated.

  • @warrkrymez agreed but you still cant deny that he was a damn good performer and singer

  • @warrkrymez you f g horses ass.

  • @0311RFLMN You go lick Satan's ass.

  • truly magnificent

  • One of those voices that regularly brings tears to my eyes because of its beauty.

  • JUST THE BEST EVER! R.I.P. & YOU FOR ALL THE JOY YOU GAVE US.

  • Incredible B at 5:10!!!

  • @cacahahacaca it's a C

  • @slicer317 transposed. it's a B.

  • @slicer317 Nope, this is a B.

  • three words..."listen to bonisolli".

  • @jgraif I did listen to the Bonisolli version and it is fantastic. (I know the one you refer to because I read your comments on that video). I prefer Pavarotti's version because I enjoy the brightness of his timbre and his absolute effortless sound in the upper register. You prefer Bonisolli, and that's ok. But this business about who is better than who is so juvenile.

  • @itonlyhappens you know, you are absolutely correct. all of these singers are wonderful and we only need to sit back and enjoy ALL OF THEM. the interpretation of the human voice is frought with minutia that, in my mind, ultimately obscures the beautiful, individual qualities of all these singers.

  • @jgraif Well said, I agree. That Bonisolli version is quite amazing and thrilling - I can see why one might prefer his heftier, more heroic voice.

  • I am so glad I was able to see him perform in New Jersey and 2 more times in Baltimore. How fortunate to have lived during his lifetime and be able to see him perform life.

  • I miss the master. There is not much more to say. I was fortunate to hear Pavarotti and the three tenors during their last appearance together at the old Tiger stadium in Detroit.

  • I'm from Modena, but I live in Paris....my big satisfaction is that I come from the same city of Big Luciano......he was unique and Italy is reconized all around the world also because of him!!!!

    Grande Maestro!!!!!!!!!

  • (part 3)

They entered with you just now! Now all past dreams have disappeared. Beautiful dreams I'd cherished, immediately vanished without a trace! But the theft does not wound me deeply, because, in their room they have been replaced by sweet hope! Now you know all about me. Will you tell me who you are? Will you say? Please do tell!

  • (part 2)

Who am I? I am a poet. What do I do here? I Write. And how do I live? I live in my contented poverty,

as if a grand lord, I squander odes and hymns of love. In my dreams and reveries, I build castles in the air, where in spirit I am a millionaire. Yet sometimes from my safe, all my gems are stolen by two thieves, a pair of lovely eyes

  • (part 1)

This little hand is frozen, let me warm it here in mine. What’s the use in searching? It's far too dark to find it.

But by our good fortune, it's a night lit by the moon, and up here the moon is our closest of neighbours.

One moment, mademoiselle, let me tell you in just two words, who I am, what I do, and how I live. Shall I?

  • Everything he sings is so effortless that it's like he is drinking water. A true master!!!!!!!!!!

  • His recording with Karajan is the most tender Che gelida manina I've EVER heard

  • Is that Renee Monti singing this with him?

  • so whos the girl here? I believe its one of the winners of the pavarotti competition but anyone has a name?

  • Vorrei solo che avrei potuto avere visto pavarotti in cocert

  • Even though its transposed down to a B, what a B it is!

  • yes you are right ..here the aria start at G bemol (ges)...sorry and thanks

  • amazing, just listen and enjoy.

  • I love how the conductor leads the orchestra, he barely keeps time! :-p

  • @gattamelata1940 metete.

  • My goodness, the sound of that high B!

  • @Mooorhe hi..thats high C ...

  • it's a high b here :).

  • Rest in peace, LP. Rest in peace.

  • Why doese this aria allways leave me in tears? truly heart breaking

  • Who is the woman that went on stage with him? Probably to sing the following aria (also from Bohème) "Mi chiamano Mimì", and later the duet "O soave fanciulla". No? Who is she? Thanks...

  • I saw this performance,oh,I wasn't there, but they had it on PBS one year, and I've always wondered who that woman was too..if anyone can tell us,it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sencillamente PERFECTO.

  • 41???

    He is 51 here.

  • You are right, I beg your pardon, nevertheless I stick to what I originally said. Thanks a lot.

  • He never transposed Che gelida manina down more than half a tone, and the 'only' from your comment is pretty much obsolete, because 51 is past pretty much most singer's prime.

I don't what you are talking about the Rigoletto optional high notes? He took them all except the D in the act II cabaletta which he only sang in one production. He even took the high C# in the Addio duet in his late 50s.

He also sang this aria in key in 1979 and produced the greatest high C on record.

  • Amen. Well said.

  • Ya know,I really hate it when people pick apart every little note, every little tone.Just let beauty BE beauty for cry'n out loud! I have that 1979 recording, and when I hear him hit that high C,I

    SWEAR I see God!

  • i don't know much about the tone.. don't listen to opera as often. but he has a rich voice. anyway.. liked ur professional comment

  • Watch his tongue, just amazing.

  • Stunning.

  • Magnifique.

  • Is no doubt he is one of the best opera singers ever... I really love his voice and sincerelly admire his wonderful technique, for me is always an example to follow... but in this recording he is singing the Aria one tone low... is not a High C, is a High B... but is wonderful anyway. We miss you Luciano...

  • Pavarotti stopped singing C's in the late 70's early 80's.

  • May be in this aria, but i remember 2 fantastic High C in 1998. Paris concet of 3 tenors (O surdato 'nammurato) e gala al Met in elisir d'amore duet "Venti scudi".

  • hahaha.... I just replied to someone else without reading this....

  • In this aria, yes, live, nope. He still sang Cs in the 80s and 90s, he still had his live C# in 1990 as well.

  • Actually..... he sang a C in the last three tenors concert.... he was in his LATE 60's...... that was in 1998. He also sang Nemorino in the 90's.... as late as 98.... he sang the duet 'Venti scudi' with a C every time.....

  • Wonderful! One of my heros. This really touched my heart! Wow how I miss him.

I left you a video response. I am a fellow tenor as well.

    God Bless,

    Lil' Robert

  • I agree...I loved Pavarotti in the 60s-70s, but I was very disappointed when he went into all that mess.

  • So was I.

  • His voice yet unique, was unbelievable powerful and NOBODY, can't be compared with him

  • I would not go that fare, although I like a lot the man.

  • Simply the Best.

  • he makes everything seem so effortless. YOu can't help but fall head over heels

  • unbelievable

  • One of the best Rodolfo.

That day in 1961, 29 April when he replaced the ill di Stefano...I don't think people were expecting what they got.

  • It was April 28 and he didn't replace an ill di stefano. He won a contest and that was the prize.

  • No, it was 29 April. I saw the original program...and he did replace di Stefano...listen to his interviews.

  • You're right it was the 29th but he didn't replace di stefano. That was at Covent Garden in 1963. It was Covent Garden debut not his professional debut that he replaced di stefano. Google it. But, I was wrong about the date.

  • God I miss him. He is the greatest!

  • superb super pav!!! Im wondering what the hell are that woman doing there?

  • prepare for her next aria 'si michiamano Mimi' or maybe straight to the duet 'O soave fanciulla.'

  • beautiful!

  • The Perfect Voice of the World!

  • He was the best!

  • Simply stunning.

  • amazing

  • beautifull., just beautiful., +5*

  • once again, masterful example of technique. not his best gelida but he knew it and called on his technique and it was there.!!!
