Jebus even when a Husky/Shepherd/Mastiff mutt attacked a woman and her Chihuahua they called it a Pit Bull! Get it yet? THEY WILL CALL ANYTHING A PIT!

But, you are right, AB mutts are taking over and I wouldn't be surprised if that was what was actually involved in this. Being as AB are bred solely for looks, behavior and health are not taken into consideration. So human aggression could very well be common.
My family & I own a Pitbull farm.. I'm 100% sure none of the Pitbulls on the farm have bitten anyone. Sure, they play fight with eachother! But, nothing serious. They are all loving dogs & some were rescued from fighting.. but , you couldn't tell now because they're calm & loving. It took about 2 weeks of working with the rescued ones and they were like one of the calmest & nicest dogs ever. Don't judge a book by it's cover & Don't judge a dog by it's breed.
Five day old? I came across a four month old that was killed by a pit bull, but a FIVE DAY old baby? This is why pit bulls are now illegal in Florida. UNLESS you owned one before they passed the law, then the dog is grandfathered in...I still think they should be taken away. My uncle has a pit bull and it scares the hell out of me because it circles my sister's toddler and baby when they're around.

As I just stated, the majority of bites are coming from pitbulls and pitbull mixes. A few weeks ago, I watched a pitbull attack another dog during training. Was a scary site. No warning, no sign that the dog was ready to bite. The pitbull just got on top, clamped down, and wagged his tail. The fight just started and was stopped in 5 seconds but wow!

Breeds that are highly popular are going to have more bite cases because there's more of them, pluspitbulls tendtohave badowners. It has nothing to do with breed. What kind of training? and how did the dog attack? Was it off leash? I guarantee you there was a warning. YOU just didn't see it. Dogs give off A LOT of warnings. There's more to dogs than just tail wagging and growling. You have to look at the whole body.

That's why we keep getting pit owners posting video replies showing their dog being cute and loving in response to these kind of stories. I don't believe a pitbull will automatically attack but one has to be conscious that when they do it is more catastrophic than a Chiwawa or poodle attack. The reason we don't keep tigers as pets is their power not just viciousness extra caution is needed with pitbulls.

I think one criteria that should be in the back of a potential owners mind is can I subdue this animal if I have to. As for reporting, the more damaging attacks are more likely to get readers which is why we won't see chihuahua attack videos. They just don't have the damage output of more powerful dogs. Pits are beautiful but very powerful animals that should be handled with care.

This does not take into account the attacks on other dogs, which is actually much higher. Ive owned 5 pits and I've never had an issue. Now reforming one is very VERY difficult and risky. But raising one from a pup aint hard. My boxer pit stayed by my mothers side thru out her chemo. My friends all white pit not only is the kids "pony" but is the BIGGEST sissy. You can actually scare him and make him wet himself. The 2 of them get together and you just gotta worry about them knocking something over. And we've had them for over 5 yrs.

But stats seem to confirm their attacks are far more dangerous than most. I only kno of one confirmed cuz I asked the lady. But a lot of "animal attacks" there are just from strays and peoples german shepards, and most of the strays you see are not pits. Just mutts.

Fatal incidents are extremely rare. With about 75 million dogs in the US, and 32 fatal dog attacks each year, they are such a statistically anomaly that decisions on "breed" aggression should not be based on such rare incidents.

Also, those dogs haven't had extensive exposure to babies, but they are also a breed known for rodent hunting. It still amazing how ignorant people are. They don't report labrador bites or chihuahua bites, so you never hear about them. They report pit bull bites, so people assume that pit bulls are more dangerous. It's never the dog, always the owner. Never leave a child alone with any dog. Stupid parents caused 2 deaths. @TheWarloghe I don't have a pit bull. And no, if another breed attacks someone it is labeled as a "dog attack" not a "poodle attack". And why do people keep giving poodles as examples? Poodles are bigger than pit bulls and they're not some foofoobreed. The majority of bite cases are from popular breeds. It only makes sense...more breeds per area, the more likely a bite will happen. Well, pit bulls are popular and the majority of them are owned by stupid people who cross breed them forbad genes.

@TheCheeseLady Doubt poodles are on the top 10 list of breeds most likely to injure or kill a human or another animal. As I just stated, the majority of bites are coming from pitbulls and pitbull mixes. A few weeks ago, I watched a pitbull attack another dog during training. Was a scary site. No warning, no sign that the dog was ready to bite. The pitbull just got on top, clamped down, and wagged his tail. The fight just started and was stopped in 5 seconds but wow!

Breeds that are highly popular are going to have more bite cases because there's more of them, pluspitbulls tendtohave badowners. It has nothing to do with breed. What kind of training? and how did the dog attack? Was it off leash? I guarantee you there was a warning. YOU just didn't see it. Dogs give off A LOT of warnings. There's more to dogs than just tail wagging and growling. You have to look at the whole body.

That's why we keep getting pit owners posting video replies showing their dog being cute and loving in response to these kind of stories. I don't believe a pitbull will automatically attack but one has to be conscious that when they do it is more catastrophic than a Chiwawa or poodle attack. The reason we don't keep tigers as pets is their power not just viciousness extra caution is needed with pitbulls.

@theyaden You can't compare dogs to tigers. Tigers are wild animals. Dogs are domesticated animals. And no, if a chihuahua is seriously attacking, you will get serious injuries. And poodles are BIGGER than pitbulls... You never hear about it because people don't report it. Or if they do, it is just labeled as a dog not the breed. If the dog looks like a pit, the news makes it a point to say a pit bull attacked.
You should never leave a dog and child unattended, regardless of the breed.

I think one criteria that should be in the back of a potential owners mind is can I subdue this animal if I have to. As for reporting, the more damaging attacks are more likely to get readers which is why we won't see chihuahua attack videos. They just don't have the damage output of more powerful dogs. Pits are beautiful but very powerful animals that should be handled with care.

@TheCheeseLady The most accurate statistics are that pitbulls make up roughly 4% of the population. Pitbulls make up for over 65% of the attacks on humans. This does not take into account the attacks on other dogs, which is actually much higher. Pitbulls are breed to kill other animals and they are breed to be ambush predators which is why they usually show no sign of their intention.

I think the CDC, at the time, kept the most accurate accounts of dog bite and fatality incidents. So pitbull lovers are really the ones hiding the truth from the American people.

All these parents should be prosecuted for murder. Ive owned 5 pits and I've never had an issue. Now reforming one is very VERY difficult and risky. But raising one from a pup aint hard. My boxer pit stayed by my mothers side thru out her chemo. My friends all white pit not only is the kids "pony" but is the BIGGEST sissy. You can actually scare him and make him wet himself. The 2 of them get together and you just gotta worry about them knocking something over. And we've had them for over 5 yrs.

@LowKeyYingYang I've never seen a pit bull attack on a human, but have seen the neighborhood pet that all loved and fed attacked by a pit also a bony old mutt that was just passing by. In both cases the pit had to be knocked out to get it off their victims. I wish you continued success with your dogs. I personally would prefer a different breed.

Why is a dog more important than a human and why would anyone take that chance? It's like the owners of this type of dog are rebelling against something. As though they are proving they can be more in control of them and will prove it by taking the risk. This isn't true for all of them but I've heard it over and over again.Seen it on these court programs. Even when the pit bull kills another animal or attacks a human, they blame everything else. . not their dog! You'll believe what you want to.

Some entire countries have prohibited owning,importing or breeding pit bulls.Ownership in Germany will get one fined and up to two years in prison.Australia, Denmark, Equador, Ireland,New Zealand,Portugal,Spain,and Turkey also have bans.Beginning Dec.14,2014 it will be illegal to import, breed , adopt,raise or sell pit bull-type dogs in Venezuela as well. @Songsmirth As noted, I quoted a report from a reputable newspaper in New Mexico.Agreed many owners enjoy the power owning a pit brings them. Are pits more aggressive than most breeds? Not sure. But stats seem to confirm their attacks are far more dangerous than most. Often, even unprovoked, they maim or kill strangers, owners or family members.You can, as you say, be a "redneck" and not believe the facts or you can be responsible and listen to the the facts uncovered here. @pitmeister100 I dont know bout the other countries but I just came from germany several months ago on my way back from a deployment and I saw several pitbulls or looked like pitbulls. I only kno of one confirmed cuz I asked the lady. But a lot of "animal attacks" there are just from strays and peoples german shepards, and most of the strays you see are not pits. Just mutts.

This could explain why you don't see many. The same paper states the US ARMY AND MARINE CORPS have banned" large dog breeds with a predisposition toward aggressive or dangerous behavior" including pit bull type dogs,( among other breeds) in on-base housing and privatized housing. Hopefully it makes people/kids more safe.

In at least three instances, the bite injury resulted in amputation. In six instances, the bite injury resulted in death. The findings also show that firearm intervention might have prevented at least eight deaths by a pit bull mauling in this period.

If my dog ever shown any type of unwarranted aggression towards anyone whatsoever.... I would take him out to an open field and shoot him without hesitation. Gee, that's funny. I brought my baby home from the hospital and introduced him right away to my German Shepherd/Aussie mix...and had NO problems at all. In fact, he absolutely loves the baby. And for the record, that is the FIRST baby he's been around up close. So, no excuses for the dog, it's a pitbull and those people should've known better. They might as well of handed the baby off to John Wayne Gacy.

Yes, and what's funny, my baby has been around my mother-in-law's Westi, Cairn Terrier and those dogs never attacked him. Also, those dogs haven't had extensive exposure to babies, but they are also a breed known for rodent hunting. Funny though, they've never shown ANY aggression towards people and have had NO training. They are simple housedogs who are/were probably loved as much as this morons pitbull in the video.
