  • All these guys are good in their own right. I don't think different styles can translate into a better or worse ordering system though. Hip hop and music is bigger than that.

  • But J Dilla still my dude though (R.I.P)

  • with all due respect to his soul, and the love that I have for his music and work, dilla never should be in front of the two Monsters that are Pete Rock and Preemo, even Dr.Dre should be ahead of him...Dilla was great can't front but we're talkin' about superheavyhitters here...

  • 1. J Dilla 2. Madlib 3. Dj Premier 4. Kanye West 5. Pete Rock 6. RZA 7. Q-Tip 8. Large Professor 9. Alchemist 10. Exile

  • where is dre and havok

  • SCOTT STORCH & J.R ROTEM

  • Dr Dre, Missy Elliot/Timbaland, Kanye West and The Neptunes all changed Record Producing... They should definatly be in this list.

  • @kofipat1 And where exactly would you put them in the list?

  • How Kanye west or Premo aren't here amazes me .... i know its opinion, but still !

  • @RAINSKRIBBLE ..... AND TIMBALAND !!!!

  • dj premier is number 1 you heard

  • For me in know order Rza Dj premier pete rock 9th wonder Havoc Erick sermon J dilla The wu elements Dr dre The A L C

    02. Dr. Dre

    03. 9th Wonder

    04. T-Minus

    05. Boi-1da

  • I think Kno (from Cunninlynguists) should def be up there.

  • Common no Dre in top 15 please.....Dre easily top 5....

  • To people frontin on Dr. Dre you are either frontin him purposely or you are somoking something. Every producer I mentioned in my list (except Premo) have all said they looked to Dr. Dre for inspiration at a point in their careers. Dr. Dre revolutionized the production game. So please stop pretending he isn't one of the greatest. Q-Tip. Pete Rock, even Marley Marl all have said Dre was the man. I can't knock what they said. How can you not put him among the greatest? Its a tragedy and shame.

  • There is no order of producers for me but here's my list. J Dilla, Dr. Dre, Premo, Q-Tip & Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Pete Rock, Hi-Tek, RZA, Madlib, Organized Noize, Nottz, Black Milk, No ID, Kanye West, 9th Wonder, Marco Polo, The Neptunes, DJ Quik, Havoc, Alchemist, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Babu, Marley Marl, DJ Muggs, Just Blaze, Prince Paul, Da Beatminerz, Erick Sermon and a few others.

  • wheres kanye?

  • and stoupe?

  • fcuk numbering producers i like them all equally but madlib is my favorite

  • for me u forgot Dr dre The Alchemist and Dj Quik i think their productions sound more good that some of producers of this top

  • you left me out man

  • @CExplicitProductions dre ? really ..?

  • @BONA925FIDE Yes...you simply can't be frontin on Dr. Dre. You'll be crazy not to mention him. In fact its insulting not to do so as much of an impact he has had on most producers including some on this list.

  • were the fuck is dr.dre

  • Premo would be #1 on my list

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW WHATS THE BEAT AT NUMBER 4..BEFORE IT GOS TO 3!! THANKS;)

  • ye elp is dope. i fear madlib is way too underrated, flying lotus, large proffessor (nas - it ain't hard to tell), nujabes, prefuse 73 (check out his song "blacklist"), r2dj, nosaj thing, dr dre (ye i know he's a sellout but when he was producing joints for ice cube man oh man), alchemist

  • El-P tops my list every time.

  • NEW HIP HOP PRODUCERS, BEATS ON OUR CHANNEL

  • Alchemist????????/

  • @beantownn54 alchemist is dope.

  • i would now definately have apollo brown in my list. not one mention of him yet? he made 3 solid albums in 2010 (the left - gas mask was a 5 mic album) and his instrumental album 'clouds' that came out in january was amazing.

  • good list. here's mine: 15. Oh No 14. DJ Muggs 13. Q-Tip 12. EL-P 11. Necro 10. The Beatnuts 9. The Herbaliser 8. Kno 7. SToupe 6. J Dilla 5. DJ Premier 4. MF DOOM 3. 9th Wonder 2. Madlib 1. RZA
  • 1. murdock

  • lol? DR. DRE?

  • @VolvoEP Dre is overrated, and i recognize your username have we come across before?

  • @lyricsfromsweden Yes we have...hi.

So why *looking at the title* ...why YOU don't think Dr. Dre is one of the best producers?

  • @VolvoEP well he is good but not great, certaninly not top 15

  • @lyricsfromsweden

    Still D.R.E?

    Forget about dre?

    Nothin' but a G thang???

    Fuck wit dre day?

    N.W.A.???

    ----------------

Not your favorite? How?! Well, okay I'm not gonna take your time...BTW your from Sweden? :)

  • and someone please explain why most people think preemo is better than dilla. as far as im concerned dilla is a lot more creative and preemo makes the same old cheesy hip hop. not bad, no where near bad preemo is great, but no where near the level that dilla, madlib, and nujabes were/are at. they have a tremendous understanding of music, especially on nujabes' part. so it just doesnt make sense why ppl think preemo is betr r.i.p. dilla, r.i.p nujabes (cant believe he died) and long live MADLIB!!

  • i think just missing nujabes. but at least this is a respectable list. nice job dilla dawwgg!

  • whats that first track from Madlib? it doesn't sound like green power...

  • @playkid27 I take it back, I found the track :D

  • wheres nujabes, boon doc, marcus D, blazo etc....

  • 1. dilla 2. pete rock 3. dj premier 4. rza 5. 9th wonder 6. large professor 7. lord finesse 8. madlib 9. hi-tek 10. buckwild 11. marco polo 12. no i.d 13. the ummah 14. m-phazes 15. damu the fudgemunk
  • nice list. top 3 are the same for me.

  • Great list.

  • Really good list!!!

  • My TOP 15 in order.... 1) DJ Premier 2) Pete Rock 3) DJ Muggs 4) Large Professor 5) Erick Sermon 6) The Bomb Squad 7) Rick Rubin 8) Mark the 45 King 9) 9th Wonder 10) J Dilla 11) E Swift 12) Alchemist 13) Necro 14) Jake One 15) Marley Marl
  • 1. Marley Marl 2. NO I.D. 3. DJ Quik 4. Jay Dee (J Dilla) 5. Large Professor 6. Diamond D 7. 9th Wonder 8. Pete Rock 9. Dr. Dre 10. RZA 11. Havoc 12. Hi-Tek 13. Battlecat 14. Organized Noize (slept on alot) 15. Prince Paul

honorable mention,Q Tip,Focus,Kanye West,Jesse West,Necro,Just Blaze, etc. That's my list in no particular order of importance.

  • Comment removed

  • @DJDisgust dj premier is at third position!!!

  • good choice dr dre didant belong in this. mayb his number 15 or 16!

  • ayo get at me..illest flows on youtube..bout 2 get signed...check me out...stay safe..jiggadrew..the newsies

  • MO BEE IS NOWHERE ON THIS LIST???!!?

  • Prince Paul is a legend its good to see him gettin some love

  • @A1C3E Old School Legend!!!

  • where iz dr dre mothafucka?

  • Much respect on this list and this clip. It's no easy task picking your top 15 producers.

On another note -- That first K-Murdock beat was produced by Dilla, murdock may have rearranged a few things, but that's a dilla beat.

Fine work tho. I enjoyed the clip.

  • Excjuuz me, but where's Dre and DJ Premier? But good list tho

  • @aappiinna dj premier ? dj premier is preemo !

  • @acikoo OFC! Im just wondering how you can make a list of good hiphop prducers without em. Id like to see Erick Sermon on someone's list.

  • Wheres nujabes?

  • @StuDDuh true dat, one of the greatest producers that ever lived

  • ..> experimenting wit my beats playing acappellas over them. click my name

  • RJD2?

  • Aight list, but where are DJ Muggs and Erick Sermon!??

  • Excellent list. Who was #6?

  • they are all Underground hiphop producers. Hiphop is not just underground. Where is Dr Dre, Timbaland, Pharell, Just blaze, and i don't know why people don't recognize Diddy as a dope producer. he's done a lot of fire instrumentals. it's lame!!!

  • @eloman101 PUFF DADDY ONE OF THE BEST HIP-HOP PRODUCERS OF ALL TIME? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @Aardvarked88 you really think Puff Daddy is wack as a producer don't you? You must be outta your fuckin' mind! hahahahahahahah

  • @eloman101 Hmmm, I could have sworn I heard Puff himself admit to being an armchair producer. I could have also sworn I heard him say he played more of a production overseer, cropping tracks, putting the finishing touches on tunes, etc.

  • @eloman101 You're a fucking idiot, Puffy has hardly produced any beats in his entire career, he has a production team behind him. I can guarantee every dope beat you think he produced was done by somebody else. Clown.

  • @Aardvarked88 shut the fuck up you low life nigga!! i know he's got a production team behind him but it doesn't mean he doesn't have anything to do with the beats his production team have done. he gives valuable ideas to the team. Clown.

  • @eloman101 Puffy is an EXECUTIVE producer, I guess Suge Knight is one of the best producers of all time too? Putting him alongside Dre, Dilla, Premo, Rza, Pete Rock etc. is only ever done by dumbass newjacks who don't know shit about hip-hop. Name me one "FIRE INSTRUMENTAL" he's done.

You're confused as fuck, stop talking.

  • @Aardvarked88 first of all i didn't say you have to put Diddy as one of the best producers of all time. I just said he's produced some dope beats and needs to be recognized. And secondly, he is not just an Executive Producer like Suge Knight. let me mention some beats he produced on the Classic Album of BIG "Ready to Die". 1) Who Shot Ya 2) Respect 3) Juicy (with Pete Rock) 4) Big Poppa etc... so don't try to be a smart ass with me cuz i know my shit dumb ass!!!

  • @eloman101 If you don't think he's one of the best of all time, why were you complaining he wasn't on this list?

    Here's your problem -

Who shot ya - Produced by Nashiem Myrick

Respect & Juicy - Produced by Poke (Juicy was stolen from Pete Rock anyway)

Big Poppa - Produced by Chucky Thompson

Take a look at the fucking album credits, every single track Puffy's meant to have produced features at least one other producer.. that's because he's an EXECUTIVE producer, dumbass.

  • @eloman101 If he was capable of producing his own shit he wouldn't have a production team behind him for every album he's ever worked on, would he? Do you think Pete Rock, Rza or Primo had other producers working on their classic beats? No, that's because they make beats while Puffy sits next to people who make beats and then takes 50% of their money for it. Get back to me when you've listened to hip-hop for more than 6 months and know what the fuck you're talking about. Clown.

  • @Aardvarked88 Dr Dre has a production team behind him including Focus and Scott Storch used to be in his production team too then i guess Dre doesn't produce anything except the producers in the team right??? what kind of idiot are you? If you know hiphop you wouldn't say that dumbass!!! and for your information i listed to hiphop all my life. Clown.

  • @eloman101 You've listened to hip-hop all your life and you still don't know shit? Wow, you lose.

Puffy is an EXECUTIVE producer you fucking idiot, what's so hard to understand about that? Name me ONE dope beat he's "produced" that doesn't feature at least one other actual beatmaker on the credits?

Dre has co-produced a couple of records, that's not the same as employing countless producers to make beats for you over your entire career.

You're clueless as shit, stop talking.

  • @Aardvarked88 I don't have the time to argue with a worthless idiot like you... you are a stubborn asshole!!! you just don't want to recognize his talent as a producer cuz you hate him. you are a jobless looser... you sound smarter with your mouth closed so stop talking looser!!!!

  • @eloman101 Hey, dipshit. If you're going to call someone an idiot, try and learn some basic fucking English first and maybe learn to spell loser while you're at it.

I'm employed, have a better grasp of my native language and know far, far, far more about hip-hop than you.

He is a fucking executive producer, it's not me being stubborn, it's a fact. He didn't produce any of the tracks you've said he did and you can't back up anything you're saying so you decide to call me a "looser", failure.

  • @Aardvarked88 hahahahahaha you are fucking gay! damn you talk like them you fucking gross fag ugh!!!!!!!!!!

  • @eloman101 Superb comeback, stick to sucking puff daddy's dick and leave hip-hop discussion to people who know what they're talking about.

  • @eloman101 Ugh! Puffy, at least in the early years, had production teams, shit for brains. He probably still does. I haven't been keeping tabs on him as of late.

  • Can Ox baby

  • Great list, dude. Bonus points for Dilla at #1 and for even mentioning K-Murdock, very few people know about Panacea.

  • All love to dilla but Rza is top 3 if not number 2....he put in alot more work then dilla, hes responable for 80% of the Wu's music that he has you still lovin...ice cream?...cream...verbal intercourse....triumph....check yopur list...dont go off favorites go off who did this shit the longest, nastiest, flyest and so on.R.i.p...dilla,but death doent make him the best...dilla learned from all the people you have behind him.

  • @soxgeez rza is a great producer but i feel he is in the right place pete rock 2 me is the best producer he has made soo many classic beats.....Da Beatminerz r over rated and i also think they make wack beats...... i would put (J dilla at 5) (rza at 4) (mf doom at 3) and you sould know the rest

  • @bigT429 You'd rate mf doom as the third best producer of all time? Stop talking.

  • @Aardvarked88 mf doom made soo many classic beats

  • @bigT429 Not really, he's made a lot of good beats but very few that could be described as classics, he definitely hasn't got shit on dilla or rza. You can't seriously be suggesting doom is a better producer than madlib either can you?

  • i like Nujabes 2

  • jay dee are not over over ated he's the best of all time braemarsucks

  • 1-j-dilla.....2-dj premier....3-pete rock....4-marley marl....5-madlib....6-large pro....7-alchemist....8-black milk ....9-kev brown....10-oddisse dissizit

  • @mumsdawerd Aceyalone was one of the founding members of Freestyle Fellowship. Before that he was in a group called the MC Aces, consisting of himself, Myka 9, and T Spoon of Iodine. You can you tube some of their old classics such as Mike, Eric and Eddie. They were way ahead of their time.

  • #1 Dr. Dre!!!

  • @mumsdawerd , EQB consisted of Jamm Messenger D, Mathmattiks, and The Mighty O-Roc. They produced Freestyle Fellowship's Innercity Griots. Personally, my favorite albums of all time.

  • @verbalbatters ohhh WORD! yo, i used to rock to freestyle fellowship also. very nice group. didn't that one dude aceyalone get his start with freestyle fellowship??

  • this can't be in order, if it is nice attempt, 9th wonder 14 ??? that ain't right

  • Wheres STOUPE?

  • This is an ill list. I was just a little upset that The Earthquake Brothers didn't make it though.

  • @verbalbatters i'm sorry dawg. yo i'm an underground junkie too but who in the flying fuck are the earthquake brothers? Were they responsible for Insane Clown Posse?? haha nah, but 4 real, please tell me what the earthquake brothers produced cuz i haven't heard of them man. peace.

  • This list is on point .....spot on

  • one word -RZA

  • Large Pro.? Kanye West ? Black Milk ? iLLmind ?

  • @OziiBeats M-PHAZES?? Oddisee?? Ohmega Watts?

  • @mumsdawerd you're right but the top 3 is

    Preemo

    Pete Rock

    J dilla.

  • Make thousands through music production! It all starts at richproducers . com

  • Probably the most solid list on youtube. My only beef is PR should be #1

  • no love for stoupe to be found anywhere...

  • 1-Ohmega watts 2-j Dilla 3- The Procussions 4-Lupe Fiasco 5-Jneiro Jarell 6-Nujabes 7-prefuse 73 8-2pac 9-Biggie smalls 10-nas 11-Dr Dre 12-Wu tang Clan & others.. The best for me !! listen them & enjoy ! Madeeey from France ;)
  • 1. Dilla / Madlib, way too hard to call

    3. Doom

    4. Pete Rock

    5. Myself

i didn't even know Dilla 'till like 2007, but that didn't make me like him more or less. he's a legend 'cause of his beats, not because he died.

  • 1. Madlib 2. Nujabes 3. Jaydee 4. 9th Wonder 5. Kanye West 6. Primo 7. RZA 8. Just Blaze 9. No I.D. 10. Pete rock 11. Jake One 12. Dr. Dre 13. Danger Mouse 14. Metal Fingers 15. The Neptunes
  • 1 premo 2 marley marl 3 large pro 4 pete rock 5 bomb squad 6 rza 7 buckwild 8 dr dre 9 q tip 10 da beatminerz jay dee over overrated , 99% of you did not give a shit about him till he died
  • @braemarsucks I'll admit i was one of those people who slept on dilla. But after he died i came to find out he was the producer of many classic tracks. And after a thorough listen to his works i came to the conclusion dilla is a freakin genius.

Artists like Common, Erykah Badu, ATCQ, The Pharcyde, De La Soul, Slum Village... wouldn't be half of what they are rigt now if it wasn't for dilla.

  • @saucy05 i would have to disagree!

1.tribe's best albums (the first 3) where produced

    by ali and q tip

    2. pharcyde's best (the first 1) was produced by j swift

    3. de la soul's best album's (the first 3) where produced by prince paul

4 common's best album's (the first 3) where produced by no id

  • @braemarsucks nice list. mad respect for all of them producers. maybe 3 of them are a little too old for my taste. I only consider producers from 1992-2002. All of them are nice, but would you ever consider Erick Sermon to at least be in your top 15? I'd also consider Ayatollah, one of the most underrated producers in the game. How could anyone forget Ms. Fat booty by mos def and "the life" by pharaohe monch? Organized Noize, responsible for GoodieMob/Outkast also honorable mentions.

  • I can't wait for The War Report 2 CNN album. Tragedy better be all over the album like the first one. I know he is doing time for drug possession but still. Just like Ghostface was all over Cuban Link 2.

  • To me Prince Paul is the fourth member of De La Soul

  • @Llahsram06 , shit wasn't the same when he left...

  • @BigBabyGandhi Stakes is High is still a dope album without Prince Paul

  • @Llahsram06 def, but it didnt have the same sound is all im saying

  • @BigBabyGandhi True

  • ye finally a list acknowledging EL-P!! definitely one of the most influential underground producers.

  • Comment removed

  • My list 1. Primo (R.I.P. Guru) 2. Pete Rock (simply ill) 3. RZA (you can tell I'm from the east coast right?) 4. No I.D. (Chi-town's finest) 5. Dr. Dre (The Chronic alone is one of the best produced albums ever) 6. Just Blaze 7. Kanye West (Late Registration is also amazingly produced) 8. Dilla (R.I.P.) 9.HiTek 10. 9th Wonder
  • DDDDDD DILLLLAAAAAAAAA! rip

  • no dre? fuck u

  • @danielquezada1 Yeah, you're right!

  • all these producers sound about the same from the beats u chose in that they r all mello for the most part. sounds very 1 sided

  • @PhillipIsAlive well thats his style my style as well

  • I think DJ Quik is the most underrated DJ...doesn't have the volume of work that some do, but is one of the best..

  • where is Large Professer?

  • madlib should be like #2 rza has nothing on him

  • @360degres i must agree madlib is so ill my top 2 fav producers dilla and madlid no doubt indeed but everyone has there likes

  • The Alchemist!

  • this is a good list. i think pete rock is better than dilla tho. nujabes, fat jon, j rawls, thes one, and large professor would grace my top 15

  • Were talking Producers and no one has mentioned one of the sample masters, RJD2?

RJD2 is genius how he puts together beats.

And where the hell is Stoupe on anybodys list? Ill put him up against 3/4ths of these superstar DJs people are naming. He throws down fire on the boards

If you havent heard RJ or Stoupe, quit listening to the radio and search

    Ghostwriter / Smoke & Mirrors - RJD2

Saviorself / Black Winter Day / Suicide / Me Ne Shalto / Uncommon Valor - Stoupe

    That is all

  • Correction: We're talking the authors 'favorite' producers, as indicated in the title of the video.

  • So were talking producers and no one here has mentioned one of the sample masters, RJD2? Ghostwriter and Smoke & Mirrors are sampling at their finest.

And where the hell is Stoupe, on anybodys list? Hes thrown down some of the sickest beats in comparison to a lot of these famous superstar DJs people are naming

Stoupe and RJD2 need to be in your top tens, or twenties, I dont care really. And if youve never heard of them..

    Ghostwriter - RJD2

    Saviorself/Suicide/Me Ne Shalto - Stoupe

  • So wait were talking producers and not one person has brought up RDJ2?

Im seein some of the greats bein thrown out here, but cmon.

    RJD2

    DangerMouse

    Stoupe, The Enemy of Mankind

    DJ Shadow

    Anthony Davis

Mannie Fresh - I dont really care much for this new rap/hiphop bs or whatever you want to call it on the radio is, but dude throws down some fire on the beats

Its refreshing to see names like Mantronix, and Madlib, but wheres your Spinderella?

  • yall crazy. none of yall have kanye on yalls list? his beats r fuckin epic. he has GRAND beats. orchestral
