Hey man awesome video. Helped me out a lot, but was wondering if you could post a video of the left hand as George Martin composed and mentioned in the beginning of this video? If not was wondering if you know about any sheet music for that part and where to get it?

@jdiggyd Glad you liked it, thanks. I thought about showing the original George Martin version but it's just too tough to teach that on a video with all of the individual notes in both right and left hands. I do believe, though, that you can find the solo transcribed in The Beatles Complete Scores book, published by Hal Leonard. As I recall it had every note of every song and was very thorough, so it's likely that you'll find it there.

@lladanscott This is actually my own arrangement of the solo. The right hand is the original, but the left hand chord structure is mine. I think it makes the song flow better on solo piano when it's done this way, as opposed to the individual notes in both hands. Glad you enjoyed it!

@lladanscott The solo was actually composed by George Martin, and it took him about an hour. He played it at a slowed-down tempo, then sped up the tape to match the tempo on the record. Quite a nice composition, huh?

okay piano john my man, I've learned many a beatles songs from you, been meaning to thank you for that. Second, I'm not 100% sure if you cover this song or have a tutorial, But it would be bad ass if you did Mr. Sand Man...I looked at other peoples tutorials...Just can't learn from them.

@Freddy9296 The older vids were recorded in mono, before You Tube went stereo. The sound is on the other audio channel. Ifyou go to your computer's main audio control, move the balance tab to the center, and you should hear it.

@eenayeah Yes, I'd thought about doing a cover of it with the original solo, so maybe I will. It's a little awkward to play the solo without the backing instruments, but it can work.

This solo is so hard because George Martin played it slowly in a lower key then sped it up to match the key of the song. So you are better than George Martin. Read Revolution in The Head, tells you everything about every Beatles song.

hey very nice lesson, but it would be nice if you make a record of the original solo. you stoped playing it at the first when you were illustrating how it is played on the record. maybe a fast record without explaining each note.

I'm sure you know George Martin recorded this solo, slowed way down in a different key then speeded up to simulate a harpsichord sound (which they didn't really achieve) but it worked anyway.

Well, as I said on the video, this is not the direct transcription of the original. The melody notes are exactly the same, but the left hand bass pattern is my own. My reasons for doing it that way are also on the video.

The left hand isn't what im talking about. 3:30 the rhythm is 8th notes for the notes E B E B.

You're playing a dotted eighth note then a 16th in beat three instead.

This solo was one of the reasons I wanted to play piano, and now someone has finally shown me how to play it! Outstanding. I think the original left hand version sounds better, even though it's less practical- your version at least gives me a chance at playing it.

Although yours is good, and the original is also good... but the original style is more like baroque music imitation (e.g. fugue, canon), and yours is more in Pop style... Well different ideas, still good! I rate you 5/5 (o＾▽＾o)
