  • They should release a Sesame Street - Best of Joe Raposo collection on iTunes. Even at the age of 30, I find his Sesame tunes oddly soothing, and this song, which is one of the few clips I don't remember seeing as a child on the show, is no exception.

  • @ChrisC11291980 There's "Sing: Songs of Joe Raposo". I'm pretty sure that's on iTunes

  • I'm a child of the original Sesame Street generation (born in 1967), and I had forgotten this wonderful and beautiful-in-it's-own-simple-way song. Thanks for posting this nostalgic classic. :-)

  • Thank you, Joe.

  • Sometimes the simplest things in life are the most precious and beautiful of all. That's what this song conveys to me. :)

  • I hate how life just seems to suck the life out of people as they grow older. When we're young, we dream of castles in the sky and can make an afternoon out of watching the clouds pass overhead. Compared to as we grow older, we worry about bills, money, and how to impress the Joneses next door. I, for one, choose to remain as a child. :-)

  • Actually Joe Raposo rerecorded the song for this re-shoot, if you listen closely, you can tell the difference in each version.

  • @dickclarkfan1 I know. The original line was "knowing they'll come back again." And in the original song, the word "big" was a different note.

  • This was the version I mainly remember seeing. But I also remember the older version too.

  • This is the version I remember. I love this song.

  • This doesn't make me cry. I makes me feel good. It reminds me on just how blessed my childhood was and how I can give God he glory for such enrichment from shows like Sesame Street. I still carry the sense of wonder that songs like this create with me everyday. I feel bad for children today that they don't have what we did.

  • Now this is the version I grew up with. RIP Joe Raposo! :-D

  • @MiltownPunkette21 I also grew up with this version... somehow, it seems so much more poignant at the line 'like you... and me'. Just... feeling like being with people to enjoy these little things together is really worthwhile.

  • wheres can i find the prairie dawn version?

  • I have to watch this once in awhile to remind myself that I am alive...we get so caught up in the world...always makes me cry big tears. I love Joe Raposso...sp.

  • This is a perfect song precisely because it focuses on nature, which we experience universally.

  • geez, I am crying right now. To have been this innocent and simple, and not even knowing it. A close friend of mine passed away, so this song hits especially hard.

Thank you so much for the upload, definitely takes me back :)

  • evoloosh...I am sooooo sorry about the loss of your friend.:-( I can understand how it hits you hard.Just think of the good times you had with him/her,all right?

  • thanks :) videos like these bringing people together...really, what could be better?

  • Very true!

  • This refilmed version appeared three times (2485 (19th season finale), 2615 (20th season finale), and 3831 (1999)

  • Yes, those were the episodes where: Maria and Luis got married; Maria had baby Gabriella; and Gordon and Telly and the kids put together a toy boat -- the USS Terrific, respectively. How especially poetic in the first two of these three!

    o:-) 8 o:-)

  • it's so strange, this is the version I call original. I never knew there was one before it. But I agree, as long as the song stays the same, I'm at ease.

So many good memories. Thanks for sharing!

  • SO beautiful! It brings tears to my eyes!

  • Whoever doesn't shed a tear while hearing this song must have a heart of ice. RIP Mr. Raposo.

  • I remember this version, being born in 1984.

  • Its still Joe Raposo singing, just phrased a bit differently with the newer film footage.I like both although I grew up with the previous version. Its that other(90s i think) that I don't care for. Joe Washington had a great voice in his day but on that version, he sounds tired.

  • different music

  • The version I grew up with
