To be as specific as possible, Visual Kei is...an emphasis on aesthetics really. It's about costumes and make up, making it another way to emphasize they style or get the message of their songs across. Chances are, none of them are gay. And in Visual Kei, a lot of bands have at least one member that dresses up as a woman, and that's often how they dress their entire career, not matter how many bands they are in. There are lots of ways to do it - some are more or less intense.

@AliceEnRosas I'v atually found it helpful if you look at their face. The jaw structure and forehead shape where the eyebrows are is diffrent for boys than girls. Its a very slight diffrence so it takes practice or time to get it down. If you still cant tell where the waist area curves in is another hint its a little bit lower on boys (or at least it looks that way not sure if it really is...). I do alot of drawing so...I kind of have time to observe these things lol :)
