The year of the slam 1930...Booom. All four in a year, and he only played the open once, as an amateur he won us open, us amateur, british open, british amateur. The book is better,
@jwnrtj i think it's a bit miss matched, cos the story about not being able to get in the clubhouse main entrance was at royal st Georges,it's a funny story, cos the king wanted to talk to him after about the win, but was refused entry, until the king threatened to revoke the"Royal" status.
2:30 I didN't know James can smoke, play GOLF , etc too. His jumper must be -Pringle of SCOTland- cashmere, hand knitted. U need a housekeeper to HANDwash it, HANDcare for him, sorry 4it . I liked James's
beautiful -Hilditch and Key-? crisp shirts and 3piece suits in this movie. His knowledge of Opera, Italian-language and determination Not to be famous or advertise/endorse products 4 money almost resembles his REAL life in Hollywood, 4 REAL. What a MAN !!!
Bobby Jones obviously enjoyed a few of the finer things in life; and the shot he made out of that bunker is the stuff of ledgends. Conversation for the Gods!!
Man, no kidding...you guys have nailed it. Why take dramatic license for no particular reason? The original was a better shot, and the setting just as good. Pfffft. I'm not advising anybody not to watch the movie (I hear Caviezel is actually pretty good in the role, by the standards of most fictional golf movies), but it can't beat watching old films of the real Jones playing and talking about the swing.
By the way, Caviezel was _unbelievable_ in The Thin Red Line.
it was actually a long-iron shot he hit out of the bunker. he didn't hole it, but made a birdie. The Open in 1926 was at Lytham not....wheverer this is set.

This scene is not set at Lytham in 1926 but at Hoylake in 1930. The giveaway was the reference to Interlachen, site of the 1930 US Open.

Whatever the details, that is one of the best shots in the history of golf. Shots like that are what make me want to be a better golfer.

Sports films are a cinema genre for itself. No one of them is a bad film, and once you seen them, you'll never forget.
One for all: "Moments of Glory".

Too bad the director took such license with the actual events when they were every bit as extraordinary.
