E3 2009 - Best Third-Person Shooter

I prefer to call these games "Second Person Shooters" because I fail to see why everyone refers to them as "3rd person" when its just the camera and your character that you control. Where did you guys pull that 3rd aspect from? It doesnt make sense to call a game where you control 2 elements, 3rd person because you're only controlling 2 things, not 3. but if someone would like to explain this to me, then go ahead. Just dont be a dick about it.

First person is in "I" tense from your own perspective.

Second person is in "You" tense from the perspective of someone related (e.g. Teammate).

Third person is in "He" tense from the perspective of someone unrelated to the story or is unspecified.

Basically, games like these are called TPS not because you control three elements but because your playing from the camera's perspective - a perspective unrelated to the story/ unspecified. Similarly FPS are from your perspective.

@dannyyao123 it's still 2nd person though. in 1st person youre seeing it through the players view. in second person you're seeing it through a second view, not a 3rd. I still dont see where they pull this 3rd aspect from. Only 2 things are involved (player and camera) therefore it should still be called 2nd person shooter.

@TheWaynelds It's all from language and literature, all this has nothing to do with how many aspects or things are involved. The first, second and third come from narrative point of view in literature. Like I said, the "third-person" is derived from literature, not based on how many aspects. The fact that there are two aspects, player and camera doesn't really make a difference.

First person shooters aren't called that because there's only one aspect, rather it's roots come from literature.

I think this game was heavily inspired by Assassins creed, to a point where both look almost the same, with the difference beign the time both are set and that Saboteur has guns. I say that because it feels like a rip-off when I play it, the gameplay, other than the weapons, feels like the same. it is not a true rip-off, if you put it that way, but it surely does feel like one.
