Hi, treelobber here.got in touch with you a few days ago, and thanks for the speedy reply.I am doing well with "god only knows"Lot of work involved...phewww.I am from South Wales,U K, after i complete the song i want to put together a video for family in Vancouver B C. would you know what format i need to convert to, in order for them to play it on dvd in Canada?Hope you can help. Thanks my friend.
@treelobber -- A DVD Authoring program will convert your video to mp2 before burning the disk. I believe "Flicker" is a free authoring program you can download.
@kevinwayne50 -- I have Windows XP on a Dell XPS desktop that's 3 or 4 years old. A Pentium (R) D?? CPU , 2.8 GHz, and 2 GB of RAM. Thanks for listening!
thanks for this great tutorial. I've just recorded voice and guitar at the same time with audacity...what an eye and ear opener..i loved the finished song as well..kinda like Rod Stewart becomes a sound engineer!
Very few people would attempt to recreate such a complex song. You have done an excellent job with it. Obviously, you know Audacity incredibly well. I know that I'll be coming back to your videos for reference often, as I am new to Audacity. I'm sure that others beside myself have gained much inspiration from your efforts, I thank you very much!
this was a relaly good set of videos, i don't use audacity anymore but i remember going through this kind of stuff...now i use fl studio and my life is much easier :D though the same sorta principals are still used
I haven't run across a better video for a musician on how to multi-track using audacity....if anyone knows please let me know.......hats off to dvmovie for this.
I was looking for a multi-track demo and found your effort. I really had fun watching you have fun with this... and you knew how to relax the beat, too... your showing how you peeled the layers of this was wonderful. Thanks for spending the time and sharing it. Now what will I do with what you taught me?? Here comes my fun! Thank you. :)
I only use Audacity to produce a voice soundtrack with bed music for video but this presentation has given me an appreciation of what can be done with Audacity and I've made it a favourite so that I can use it as a reference tool. I'll also be enjoying the performance. Congratulations to both you and your wife. You are not only a great technician but you both sing very well.
wow very good work i have adobe audition 1.5 it is has why more filters and fx than audacity and i was like omg wht you did hear sound like you was in a 100.00 stodio 5 stars for you have anymore vidios like to see and hear im
Very well done! Great job with the making of the song and the tutorial too. (I love this song.) You have a lot of good ideas - you make good use of the program & keyboard. You go over some of your vocals process, but I'd like to know everything you did to the vocals - they wind up sounding really good. (There's no pitch correction in Audacity - not everyone has a condenser mic.)
I use Audacity to record also. I've done a few songs now - a couple were dubbed to my videos. I did a version of Comfortably Numb I'm proud of ... tho how do you put a song on YouTube without video or using a slide show?
I find there can be a sinc problem sometimes. Ex: a vocal track will start to lag behind - which I correct by inserting silence. This works better sometimes than others tho.
That was great. Well done, and a huge thanks for sharing with us all how you did this. You're singing is actually well suited to this track. Have you ever experimented with MIDI though? Now if only I could sing, I'd record a few songs I've written ;)
Fantastic tutorial, very educational. I am surprised that audacity could do so much so well. If it were not for you, I wouldn't think that much of it, but you can do some awesome stuff. Thank you so much for that.
i've been using audacity for a little while now, but i need 2 hands to count the number of new things i learned about it from your videos. thanks a lot, this was great.
WOW! Freaking PRO! Great Job!

It just goes to show what Brian Wilson was TRULY capable of.
I wouldn't doubt that he heard most of this at the same time and just pulled each bit and piece out of his head - kinda like you did.
Fantastic.

Well done , must have taken a long time to analyse and re-create, it just shows what can be done and pretty cheaply too.
I'd love to hear some original stuff

by the way, how long did it take you to go from start to finish (and I don't mean that visual thing at the end - just the music)?
Hesediah 3 years ago
I worked on it an hour or two a day for a couple weeks. So, it probably took me about 20 hours. Glad you enjoyed it.

Have you ever used Sony Acid? It costs money but allows you to use A LOT more effects and flexability than audacity does.
