One of the biggest problems is that people confuse religion with spirituality. U can be a good spiritual person and love God(whatever your definition of God may be) without being a religious nut who believes in all those bible stories. If you believe you get your morals from a God, you are being obedient, not moral and there is a difference between the two. Well, I am a Christian and I just finished watching the entire movie. I don't mind saying that I enjoyed it and find Bill to be very likeable and funny. However this movie hasn't changed my views in the slightest. I will continue in my faith and continue to preach that same faith to others.

Athesists must take note from religion's mistake and try not to preach their philosophy, otherwise, we're giving humanity another crutch to lean on. We must throw away all of our beliefs and nonbeliefs...and just believe in one thing: ourselves. We must believe in our own power; no matter how small, to see the world in a logical way without preaching this belief. That...is rationalism.
The first time I saw this was with a friend. Back then I considered myself Catholic despite never having done my first communion. I remember as I stood in horror as I watched the final minutes, how frightened and concerned I was for not only my well-being, but for the world's.
It was a safe bet that this was one of my turning points from the prison that is religion, into the liberating open skies of reason and rationality.
The ending is no less powerful to me now than it was before.

I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see all of these anti religion comments. I am constantly surrounded by intolerance and bigotry supported by self proclaimed moral people. It gives me hope that there are intelligent people fed up with the nonsense, and that we are growing.

If you believe you get your morals from a God, you are being obedient, not moral and there is a difference between the two. Atheism is growing, but be careful about being "anti-religion" because if you start with flat out attacks, or try to make them feel stupid, they will get defensive and completely shut you off. Just try to calmly and rationally, show them the the logical conclusions that their beliefs lead to..

I've had numerous discussions with people where I show them the logical conclusions to their beliefs, and their thinking usually comes down to, "well you are making sense, but that is counter to what I was taught, and since everything I was taught is true, what you are saying must not be true." They never question if what they were taught is wrong. Religion is dying out, not in our lifetimes, but eventually.

This is what faith can do. The power to believe without reason can turn minds into brick walls, to determine what is right and wrong, to make people throw away lives, to turn brilliant men into fools, to let people that know nothing to rise to power. It's a plague that has a much better chance of destroying the world than any invention made so far.
It's much better to try put your life and beliefs in your own hands than to let someone do it for you.

Well, I am a Christian and I just finished watching the entire movie. I don't mind saying that I enjoyed it and find Bill to be very likeable and funny. However this movie hasn't changed my views in the slightest. I will continue in my faith and continue to preach that same faith to others.

When you act like their entire way of life is a vicious attack on humanity, in their mind you're only fulfilling acts their holy books say you will fulfill. You have to study the scripture, arm yourself, and attack them in a way they can't see coming.

I am not religious but I'm not an atheist either. I am a rationalist. Athesists must take note from religion's mistake and try not to preach their philosophy, otherwise, we're giving humanity another crutch to lean on. We must throw away all of our beliefs and nonbeliefs...and just believe in one thing: ourselves. The first time I saw this was with a friend. Back then I considered myself Catholic despite never having done my first communion. I remember as I stood in horror as I watched the final minutes, how frightened and concerned I was for not only my well-being, but for the world's.
It was a safe bet that this was one of my turning points from the prison that is religion, into the liberating open skies of reason and rationality.
The ending is no less powerful to me now than it was before.

When people in general strive for a case to succeed they are willing to take violent methods in hand for reaching the goal. We see that all the way through history. Am I right? I don't think it's fair to adress religion as the root of evil. I believe human nature, human inadequacy are the better answer.
