  • @narox Martial Club aka Instructors Of Death

  • What movie is this?

  • Whoever disliked this should kill themselves.

  • Love it! A true classic

  • Life would be better if real fights were like this.

  • watch gung fu

    when ..

    ur

    fyckin baked

  • For those who thought "Neo vs. Morpheus" was awesome...

  • oh my god...the modern martial arts movies today are very good...but after seeing this, they don't even come close to how good a fight scene this one is =)

  • Gordon Liu itsn't he the one that raises his leg high like in a standing split?

  • @stretch4859 Nope, the one who kicks around and raise his leg up high is Wang Lung Wei. Gordon Liu is the guy in black.

  • I've been watching martial arts films since I can remember. I have never seen

such skill between two actors--I was raised mostly on Jacky Chan, yuen Biao, Sammo Hung and Jet Li. I have seen hundreds of kung fu movies. And even went through a phase where I was completely obsessed with seeing every fighting style. Never seen Iron Wire Fist before. Bravo!

  • Without a doubt one of the finest fights I've ever seen, and considering I own upwards of 150 Kung Fu flicks, that's saying something. The speed and precision is incredible, and both Gordon Liu and Johhny Wang are really showing their shit here. Just seeing the appreciable difference in technique as the space gets smaller, and how they have to bend and yet still show such ferocity.

The rest of the movie was good. Not great, but good. This fight, though, was worth the admission all on its own.

  • Amazing stuff! Brilliant!

  • OH THESE SOUTHERN CHINESE TYPES, WITH THEIR STAMPING AND NO KICKING! LOL GREAT SCENE. (I study Shao Lin styles, so I am used to more kicking.) lol

  • @1115WOLF You study Shaolin styles, is it Northern Shaolin style? There are 2 Shaolin Temples, one in the North and one in the South of China. The Southern temple is more horse stance and bridge hands based.

  • @Wulang8 COOL! i am always happy to hear/meet another practitioner of martial arts! I study Northern "Song Shan" styles, like 7 stars boxing, and Luohan tchuan boxing. Do you study, HuanGar?

  • @1115WOLF Yeah, we study Hung Gar. How long have you been training? Have you attended kung fu festivals before?

  • @Wulang8 I have been studying and learning to understand, for about 7 years... I only wish I could attend a festival! I live no where near any such things... My sifu, was thought for 20 years, buy a 34th generation Shao Lin Monk. What do you recommend as far as festivals.

  • @1115WOLF Do you have facebook? You can send me a PM so I can add you and give you updates. Which country are you in? There are events in Germany if you're in Europe, Hong Kong and Malaysia if you visit Asia pacific region.

  • Absolutely wonderful! One of the best finales out there and possibly the best example of Northern vs Southern styles. Love it!

  • This fight scene really shows the differences within the styles used to combat each other. When one changes the style it's to attack the weakness of the other style. BRILLIANT!!!!!!

  • loving these. great fight

  • Such gentlemen when they fight, complimenting each other's form. Awesome choreography.

  • 4 people haven't been practicing finger strengthening techniques

  • To compare Lau Sifu with a prat like Jet Li is an insult (having been unfortunate to have to spend several hours with Li on his England trip in 1996, I can say he's the only Chinese action actor I can't abide personally and most of his movies he's doubled almost constantly, checkout the behind the scenes footage of Expendables Li doesn't even do his own RUNNING??. Lau Sifu changed the face of cinema, Jet LI just turns my stomach

  • For sure one of the greatest fight scenes... Although I like the films where Lau Kar Leung actually fought.

Just by watching him move you could tell how good he was.

    Kind of like Jet Li

  • great fight love it!

  • i hate how they call hung gar "hong fist", which is an entirely different style.... still an awesome movie.

  • I wish they could make a video game based on Shaw Brothers.....kuje perhaps Shaw Brothers Musou (Shaw Warriors), but every time I try to think of how they could do it I come up with nothing. The moves are too elaborate and choreographed to come out like this clip in a game. Unless they made the whole thing a QTE (which would suck I think)

  • @Feijoada1 what it the moves we done tekken style

  • @Namriu94 That wouldnt be good either because then everything would be a juggle fest

  • @Feijoada1 i meant in terms of movements ( cause ppls in tekken have 100's of moves) not gameplay, and like they could have constant counter movements soo it appear the same way it would on film

  • @Namriu94 There was a PS1 fighting game that came out that came the closest to matching the cheorography like Show Bros because part of what makes Shaw Bros look like it does is because people are constantly blocking and in fighting games there is usually only one blocking animation while this game had multiple ones and parrying. I forget the name of the game because it was a an import but a U.S. version was made but they changed the whole look of the game I think it was called VS

  • legendary scene

  • awesome scene

  • they had the best sound effects back then.

  • Shaw Brothers movie are classic is always well know in Hong Kong!!!! I love shaw brothers movies!!!! There have even other branches in Singapore,Indonesia and Malaysia!! You can check out other movies !!!

  • Maybe you guys should find a field to fight in. Just a suggestion.

  • The stuntman is the great Hsiao Ho..who played in many films, Mad Monkey Kung Fu o example.

  • Thank you Shaw Brothers for making my saturday afternoons more fun. In my hometown in NYC Channel 5 WNEW (now WNYW)

  • This is Hung Ga! real Gung fu as its best!

  • epic.. love these classic fight scenes

  • classics never die

  • Which ones the one that the teacher drops a single and the student has to grab it?

  • catch me if you can

  • wat good is this in a real fight you dont have time for this

  • @robertocalor try to act like this is NOT real life this IS in fact youtube. U want a real fight type in UFC not shaw bros. :)

  • @robertocalor I know what good does strength/speed/agility/accuracy/Reflex exercises do in a fight huh... What a fuckin dumbass lmfao

Practitioners in martial arts can do like 10 punches in a second(at least bruce lee did and held the record).

Stop acting like you know shit. These guys would beat the living fuck out of you in real life... it is not like they would break into mantis style stance... that isnt practical and just looks cool for movies... so stfu if you are gonna talk so ignorantly

  • fakest bricks ever, they look like paper but the fighting styles and combat was superb

  • Das kommt ja genau richtig, im Tv läuft nur blödsinn..hihi ;)

  • Absolutely one of the greatest fight scenes of all time.

  • There is a great documentary on Gordon posted here on youtube where he goes into detail about this particular fight and his Sante pole fighting. CHECK IT OUT!

  • Always loved th is scene. One of the best ever filmed. 2 icons of martial arts films!!

Gordon is one of my 3 all time favorites!!

  • on 4:53 does anybody know the name of the theme there playing? I love shaw brothers theme music

  • What a fight scene! Classic!!

  • i just found this shaw brother thing now( thanks to funimation) and i need to say its reallly cool. and this was made in what year? 70s?

  • classic

  • I like the part where they're fighting...

  • Is it coming out 4 dragon dynasy?

  • One of my all time favorite movies and fight scenes!!

  • Love that battle music1:06.. makes the battle more tense

  • One of our best movies sold

  • Probably my favorite fight scene for Wang w/Liu. The one between them in Fist Of the White Lotus is way too short.

  • this might sound stupid but what is the name of this movie, and is it out 4 dragon dynasty?

  • martial club- instructors of death

  • this movie is call Martial Art School in Chinese but in English it is call Martial club

  • I thought so, because this sure as hell does not ACT like a martial club at all. More like a school anyway, judging from the character's attitude and expressiosn :).

Gotta love the English for translating good movies, into shitty titles.

  • in the chinese name of this video it call martial art school it is not call martial club

    hahahahaha

  • i wish they played Thriller during that little jig Liu did at 2:50-3:00

  • the exchange at 352 is sick.

  • Is that Freakin cool or what???!!!!!!. :-)

  • 5 element ninjas, that movie was an epic shaw brothers film

  • that was tight. Love it. I'll buy this movie

  • that was tight. Love it. I'll buy this movie

  • amazing 5/5

  • DAAAAAAMN!!! Peace, I gotta watch that joint again!

  • ILL' FUCKING FIGHT!!!!!!!

  • z0mg its mercenary tao!

  • oh man this movies are the best

  • If you like this check out "wang lung wai" vs "yuen tak" in the master (aka 3 evil masters) Yuen taks flow is second to none. One of the greatest and most underated martial artists ever !!!

  • golden era!

  • 巷战经典。好刘师父!正宗国术,真实武打。

  • i....LOVE....theese movies...thx pal 4 posting

  • This is one of the best fight scenes that I could actually follow I'll look for more of this.

  • To whom ever put this film on youtube...Thanks. i would like to see more!

  • super kool

  • This is the most memorable fight scenes I've ever watched from Shaw Bros. Thanks for the upload!

  • unique they all look the same to me lol

  • When I first saw this scene back in 2000, I was breathless. This has to be hands down some of the best choreography that Liu Chia-Liang has constructed in his career. And you have to give major props to Gordon Liu and Wang Lung Wei(especially wang lung wei, that dude held it down) for being able to pull off this scene the way they did. Classic!!!!

  • No doubt! I don't know if I'd say it's his greatest work, but it certainly is one of the most impressive movies even just for the choreography alone. Gordon Liu is the shit, no question! But I might be a bit biased as he's the one I just happened to watch the most of as a kid. Beautiful movie!

  • Hey dreaded, thanks for replying to my comment. I'm not necessarily saying it's his GREATEST piece of work, but this particular fight has to rate as probably his top 10 best choreographed scenes that he has done for shaw bros. studio. This scene, imo, goes up there with his fight scene with his brother (liu-chia yung) in legendary weapons, the pole fight b/w gordon and kao fei in 8 diagrams, etc. It's safe to say that just about anything pops does is consistent and full of quality! :)

  • Oh, no doubt! I didn't mean it as an argument at all. I just know that there are always some I forget when thinking of 'the greatest' anything. Especially with him though. Certainly has about the longest list of accomplishments of anyone in movie history!

  • SHAOLIN FOREVER!

  • This is one the best martial art scenes i've ever seen

  • I may be wrong, but i dont think that's Wang Wei doing all those flexible kicks when u dont see his face. I think maybe its a stand in. Someone tell me if im wrong.

  • Yeah I noticed the same thing, definately a stand-in.

  • No Stand in.. Wong Lun Wei is just a good Martial Artist.. Check out some of his other flicks. Fist of the White Lotus, ( He has a two good fights with G. Lui ), Forever Dragons ( Awesome Fight w Beardy & forget his name.

  • @5thY guy actually can pull of those kicks i saw him do a kicking demonstration before

  • Your correct that wasn't him. Good cut but it's a stand in with good flexibility.

  • @livendapast Yeah you're wrong. Both are top martial artist. No stand ins...not this fight

  • Comment removed

  • @livendapast The guy who does all the splits in Lau Kar Leung's movies is called "Rocky" Lee, (he has a big role alongside Walter Mak, as Hsiao Hou's brother in Disciples of 36th Chamber). sSadly during the late eighties he was crippled doing a stunt on a modern day film, as usual he was shunned by Hong Kong filmakers ( except for Lau Sifu who had him onset with him (paid) when he was still directing films

  • @popsjnr wow that's horrible about the young man becoming crippled. i thought it was hsiao hou doing those stunts, the brothers with him in disciples of 36th chamber and my young auntie as well as his friends, right? I tried to find information on Lee but couldn't find any info about him. What are your sources? That's why I've taken care to dedicate a youtube for hsiao hou who was brilliant but has not gotten the praise he deserved, shaw brothes was terrible at promoting its actors.

  • @MistressOfKungFu Yeah it's not good but that's the way it's always been In HK cinema. I used to work for a company called Eastern Heroes and my ex-boss Toby Russell was on the sets of most of Lau Kar Leung's early eighties Shaw Brothers movies, he knew "Rocky" Lee and what happened to him, something confirmed by Lau Kar Leung's English disciple Mark Houghton, my Kung Fu uncle. Rocky Lee never doubled for Hsiao Hou, only did splits for the other actors Gordon Liu, Wang Lung Wei etc

  • in my opinion this scene is one of the greatest fight scenes in kung fu cinema

  • i want they to create ps3 fight game shaw brothers with the actors like gordon liu, david chiang, wang lung wei, yuen tak and many more!!

  • That would be incredible...Im all for it.

  • @5thYang But I hope they would do it right and not like another Bruce Lee Game eeww remember that crap :-(

  • you sir, are a visionary

  • @BEATSxME don't forget Hsiao Hou who probably did all of wang wei's action stunts for this scene lol. THey need to make a monkey style based off of his character in mad monkey kung fu

  • @MistressOfKungFu of course including hsiao ho and his amazing monkey

  • @MistressOfKungFu Reference about Hsiao Hou's Monkey style, he learned it from his Sifu Lau Kar Leung, who (legend has it) learned it from an old man he met in a market in Macao (where Lau Sifu opened his first Kwoon at age 13) the style is called Fung Ho (Fang Hou in Mandarin) also the Cantonese title of Mad Monkey Kung Fu

  • @popsjnr very interesting story. Bey Logan, noted HK movie expert and martial artist said on the Disciples of the 36th Chamber DVD, that he met Hsiao Hou on the set of Iron Monkey and that Hsiao Hou has a strange twitch that causes him to blink like a monkey in real life. He said Meng Lo copied Hou for his monkey character IP MAN2. I have a 2004 interview of Hsiao on my youtube, and I did see a subtle double blink in there. I love Mad MonkeY (Feng Hou) , good movie. One of my favorites.

  • @MistressOfKungFu Sadly I take anything Bey Logan says with a pinch of Salt, having met him many times in the past (and sharing the same kung fu teacher although at different times thank god!!). He even stole some of my Magnificent Butcher original stills, my teacher took them for Samo Hung to sign on the set of medallion, (he gave Lee Evans a bit of Hung Kuen instruction onset) Logan took them, saying he'd get them signed and never returned them

  • @popsjnr wow, that's a bummmer. i know that in the email i exchanged with logan once, i was asking him if dragon dynasty was going to release mad monkey kung fu because the version i have was made by red sun which i found out was not a legit company or such nonsense. in the conversation he said that hsiao hou was supposed to be shaw brother's competitor for jackie chan but on the discliples dvd commentary, he said for yuen biao. I thought that was an odd inconsistency. also...

  • @popsjnr (continued) also, he said on the commentary that the guy who was in IPman 2 copied Hsiao Hou's facial twitch for his character in the movie. the actor was Meng Lo from 5 deadly venoms.... so it sounded somewhat believable. I've heard of Mark Houghton before, he apparently teaches hung gar with lau kar leung's blessing I read somewhere. That is really neat that you have experienced some of the martial arts.

  • @MistressOfKungFu Mark Houghton was Bey Logan's original Hung Kuen teacher (and good friend of my teacher, who taught Logan for a while after Mark went to Hong Kong), Mark was the first student Lau Kar Leung accepted since Fu Sheng died in 1983. 1st time I met Mark was on his first return to England in 1990, where he was accompanied by Gordon Liu, I was so starstruck meeting Gordon I couldn't even speak to him, since then I,ve met Mark many times when He's taught at our Kwoon, serious Hung Gar!!

  • @popsjnr That's pretty darned cool. It's like a little subculture. I only hope that culture does not die out with some years away from now. I was watching some kung fu movie recently, and it was made with the 2000s, and I was looking at it, and I thought, wow these people are not even close to being as skilled as the old school actors. It seemed like they all had this certain look, that meant that there was more focus on the appearance of the actors

  • @MistressOfKungFu continued- as for Bey Logan, when he used to edit magazines he hardly ever gave respect to Shaw Brothers movies, always Samo this and Jackie that, In his 1995 book Hong Kong Action Cinema chapter on Lau Sifu's movies, he didn't even know Disciples of the 36th Chamber existed??I'm just glad I.ve got the original Celestial DVD's from Hong Kong without that idiot talking about who he's met. Bought a load in Hong Kong last year (also stood at the gates of Shaw Brothers, awesome)

  • @popsjnr wow, I'm so glad you noticed it because I noticed it too, that he prefers the whole Jackie Chan or the Sammo ban. He showed some reverence for Lau in his commentary on the Discliples of the 36th chamber DVD and his commentary was loaded with information BUT he did not talk about Hsiao Hou much in the commentary even though he was the lead of the movie. He focused on Lau or Gordon Liu. It would have been nice to get some background on the starring actor.

  • @popsjnr continued: you are lucky that you are able to get these DVDs without having to deal with that. He does seem to brag about who he saw, who he met, etc on his blog and DVD. But he does seem awfully informative, too. I would say, it would be nice to have some balance, someone who can focus specifically on all of shaw brothers movies and its actors.

  • @MistressOfKungFu I've met a few of my favourite stars over the years, so I understand that he wants to ensure people know that he has met some of these legends but when it's almost 80% of his audio commentary it gets a little annoying.I've only ever made it through1of his commentaries (for the UK release of Magnificent Butcher) never in 1sitting took couple of weeks!! your right there is nuggets of good stuff in there, but the "when I met so-and-so" makes me want 2 kick my TV!!

  • @popsjnr It does come across a bit like bragging. The guy Tarantino uses , like the two critics for the My Young Auntie DVD, they were horrible, I don't think they ever really watched a kung fu movie. They were actually mocking the actors and the movie genre. So at least he is a step up from that. That is very cool that you guys get to meet your favorite kung fu actors.

  • @MistressOfKungFu Tarantino just started watching Hong Kong films coz he worked in a Video store not thru any love for the genre. Yeah, it was cool to meet some of these guys (except Jet Li who was an arrogant idiot who refused to talk, even when I tried my little Mandarin) but the Shaw stars were the coolest people in the world Genuinely pleased that a westerner knew who they were, got a load of my Shaw posters signed. Hoping to meet some more in Hong Kong 2013 when I go back

  • @popsjnr I think tarantino legitimately enjoys kung fu movies, I think working at a video store is simply a matter of how he was introduced to them. I think a lot of these shaw brother people would be amazed to know just how many westerners love those movies. It's a sub-culture almost, I am finding. Youtube has introduced them to a whole new audience. 2013 is when you are going back. That must be nice. Where do you go? to Hong Kong? Where is the shaw brother studio located?

  • @MistressOfKungFu Yeah gonna go to Hong Kong, for a spot of training and an anniversary party, then into China, hopefully going to Wong Fei Hung's museum in Fatshan. My teacher's is trying to arrange a meeting with Lau Kar Leung, (I missed a trip in 2002 where some of my Kung Fu brothers met him and recieved some training from him-did get a personal message on DVD from him though). Shaw Brothers is on Clearwater Bay, just above Kowloon, security wouldn't let me in, so next time I may Break in

  • @popsjnr That is awesome! Is your teacher, Mark Houghton you said? Or a student of his? Is Hong Kong still a controlled by Britain or is it part of China now? Forgive my ignorance, I'm American we are a clueless ignorant bunch in world matters. Lau Kar Leung is getting up there in age, he's in his 80s isn't he? I know he was in some movies in the 2000s though. Just like the Wing Chun master who is in his 80s, he's still teaching too.

  • @MistressOfKungFu No Mark Houghton is my Si-Baak (kung fu elder uncle, everything is family in real Kung Fu training), my teacher is called Jim Uglow, and has been a close friend of Mark's for nearly 30 years now, but from a different branch of Hung Gar. Hong Kong was handed over to China in 1997, but is not under direct Mainland control for 50 years (2047). Lau Sifu is 77 years old this year.

  • @MistressOfKungFu Just checked your Hsiao Hou interview, the guy translating is my ex-boss Toby Russell Small world eh?

  • @popsjnr really? That is so weird. So did he have an opinion on what hsiao hou was like? And why they interviewed him? Shh... don't tell them I have the video up ha. I'm just preserving the man's kung fu legacy!

  • which company released this DVD? I know it probably isn't in Region 2. I want it, I also want Dirty Ho.

  • Celestial Pictures released it in Region 3 format but if Im not mistaken one of the US distributors owns this title too and hopefully will release it soon. Otherwise there's the Pan Media bootleg version with the english dub synced in if your desperate.

  • I already ordered and recieved the celestial version. Subtitles is more of a priority than dubbed, it has to be all original sountracks for me dude.

  • there is something nostalgic about the old dubbed kung fu. That's the only case where dubbing wins out for me. Those lines were so quotable.

  • @Paul07791 Or you could just download them. I highly doubt Gordon Liu and the gang are still getting residuals on this, so it's not like you're cheating the creative personnel .

  • Its all good, however, sometimes they don't keep their eyes on the oppenant. Instead they are mostly looking at the movement of each others hands.

  • He leaves his penis wide open, like he could've been socked in the nuts a couple of times (owch)

  • very gud filme. love kung fu filmes

  • very gud filme. love kung fu filmes

  • Sooo fuggin badd ass....nothin like old school lemme tell ya.. Gordon and Johnny at their best here...

  • Thats sweet. I love all the personal interaction as they busT asteroid.

    Very nice!

Is Martial Club the name of the movie? It doesnt sound very Shaw Brothers???

    Excellent!tHANKS

  • yeah its Martial Club aka Instructors of Death in the USA

  • Im Jem Jem a martial artist in mixed fighting although these fight scenes are dramatized i see how effectiv they can be in real fights. they will never go out of style. i think Bruce lee wouldve loved it.

  • Love the Shaw Bros stuff!!!!

  • dope

  • gr8

  • to CynicalPhuker :

I agree with you. Matrix's fight scene is mainly influenced by these old fight scene in shaw brother movie.

  • That's just a great scene. good post man, good post

  • That was tight.. which movie was that from?

  • Do you mean the title of this film? Martial Club

  • Martial Club, my friend.

  • With all of todays flashy CGI and special effects, they still don't even come close to the greatness you see in these old fight scenes. Simply excellent, creative, fast paced and truly genius!

  • Was that Fajian Sanchien I saw?

  • man i been lookin 4 this

  • This one of my favorite from Gordon Liu

  • My favourite Gordon Liu fight scene ever.. the first time I saw it, I kept rewinding the DVD to that scene over and over..

  • Nigh on 18 years ago, I discovered this movie during university final exams. Even with the proverbial badly dubbed English, it still ranks as one of the best Shaw Brothers movies ever made - and this final fight must ranks as the best "non-lethal" encounter ever.

Can anyone see Segal, Van Damme or anyone from Hollywood pulling off such a madnificent display of combat without anyone gwetting killed?

    I say: NOT.

  • thats a great figth i am going to get that movie

  • wow that was tight

  • It is one of the best hand to hand fight scenes ever!

  • Wonderful.

  • that was a crazy ass fight lol thanks for uploading!!!^^

  • I believe Media Blasters or Dragon Dynasty has purchased the rights to distribute this film in the states. So look out for the classic dubbed version within the year.

  • sweet
