We urges all countries to stop the inhumane medico-judicial sentences of brain death finalised to explants.
Why it is commonly condemned the death penalty on criminals and people is lead by instituonal propaganda to accept both the sentence of “brain death” and the execution by explant of innocent people with cerebral damage due to accidents or illness?
Can they not find a way to advertise better. I mean come on this is terrible.
Get the black guy from the progressive Insurance commercials (think thats what it is). that would make one kick ass commercial and he would make a kick ass voice over or actor. Whatever. it would be way better then this. This is just sad.
@letseewhathappens101 Yeah, this is sad. It's quite sad that there are millions of people who would take an organ but wouldn't give it. I find it sad that people die because they can't have organ transplants simply because someone never got round to signing up. Organs go to waste. I find that sad. That's why I signed up! now I feel amazing for being able to save a life when I die. The advert works, don't knock it.
John Harris also argues that organs should be automatically available by introducing a new system whereby organs will be a public resource-so no concent would be needed- doctors will be able to remove organs from everyone after death to tranplant to those on the waiting list-this will increase supply, save lives too. people will soon get used tpo the idea through educating the public in schools and media- and it will avoid having to ask family as a sensitive time of their loved ones having died.
but i think this may cause problems that people will have organs removed after death without actually providing concent, its just presumed consent-not enough, it would be unfair and unmoral. nevertheless the opt out system was introduced in brazil in 1997 and such huge numbers from all socio economic backgrounds
@rvsaid1989 opted out that the law had to be repealed the following year. this illustrates that people are able to make and withhold their consent. as they will be educated about the system through the media for example.
John Harris promotes radical measures that may increase donors and organs available for transplantation. he puts forward the argument that the uk should move to having an 'opt-out'system rather than the present 'opt-in'system. opt out system would involve the nhs presuming consent if a person has not opted out of donating their organ when they die.
truog and robinson-commentators on organ donation-they acknowledge that brain death is not death but argue that the donor would not mind having their life shortened for a few minuits or even hours, as they are irreversibly unconscious and unable to love without machine. they are dead anyway so they say revoving from the brain dead is morally acceptable because it is for the good of others who could survive with the organ-better not let it go to waste.
so the doctors should let them die propery first, let the disease or injury take its course before removing the organ from them, the removal of the organ actually causes the death of the donor, not the injury of disease. thi goes against the doctor/patient duty of care. jackson says it is up to medical discretion as to when death occurs, other medical commentators have argued that we should measure death according to circulatory and respiratory system, not whener the person is brain dead.
Potts and Evans have actually complained abouit the way organ transplantation is done in hospitals, because doctors remove organ from a person that is brain dead, just because they are on the register, they take the organ out of the brain dead to tranplant into the person who is on the waiting list. but they highlight the fact that the brain dead person is not actually dead, brain death is not death.
in order to increase the number of organs available to people on the waiting list commentators have been putting forward ideas such as finacial incentives for people registering, introducing an 'opt-out' system, making organs a public resource, and use of animal to human organ transplantation
there is a rising gap between organ supply and demand in the uk. there is a high shortage of donors on the register and so people die whilst waiting for an organ. organ transplantation is a relatively safe and usually succesful procedure when done in time. the Human Tissue Act was passed in 2004 following a public outcry when it was revealed that some hospitals had been storing childrens organs without proper consent. the act offers regulation.
I cried when watching this advert the first few times, but it's reality this is what happens. My dad was given a kidney but they couldn't attach it so he can't get a transplant. I would do anything to give him a kidney but I need mine, as his disease is hireditary. Please sign up for organ donation and save a life. I would sign up but as I am just sixteen do I need my parents consent?
@nicolachildnicole Hi, thanks for commenting. Have a look at the Frequently Asked Questions on the NHS Blood and Transplant for more information. Many thanks,
@nhsorgandonation Why dont you just answer his fucking question rather than telling to go somewhere else for the answer wouldnt that be the same amount of effort. fucker
@Airbus294 having a medical procedure is a bit different to donating your organs ater you've died. There are risks associated with medical procedures that children can't be expected to understand or appreciate. Donating your organs holds no risk.
@Airbus294 Medical procedures, yes, because children aren't expected to understand the known risks of medical procedures. There are NO known risks from being an organ doner, so a child's decision really is as valid as an adult's.
If you watch this you better donate an organ otherwise you're an evil person ''If you believe in organ donation prove it'' what the hell do they mean by 'believe' lol. I'm all for helping out someone in need DON'T GET ME WRONG... I agree that because we'd accept one it is about give and take, but adverts like this really push it to the extreme, like how they make it so saddening and disturbing so that you'll feel really guilty as if that's the only way to MAKE you give away an organ.I gve blood
don't tell me what's sad and what needs a reason, there's nothing wrong with the boy in this except the addition of fancy framework. If they want you to help then try the genuine approach use someone real who needs help not propaganda @birdman3120
@Dedokai32 I needed a kidney till I got a transplant. When I was on dialysis the last thing I wanted to do was appear on TV. Plus, how can you show the deterioration of someone who needs an organ without using fancy framework? You talked about it being saddening, that's what ill health is like!
Personally I hate these adverts they are too strong, and since I wouldn't accept blood transfusions or organ donations I don't think they should be forcing personal decisions on people like this, I've written an e-mail complaint.
This is controversial I understand so im not intending to get marked up for this, but I don't think the NHS should be pushing these kind of personal decisions on people.
I registered a few months ago, although I didn't tick the box where they could take my eyes, tissue, or heart... and I feel bad about the heart part (but I find that disturbing).
I registered... the ONLY reason I hadn't before was because I simply wasn't aware of 1) how easy it was, and 2) if I was eligible (being 16, wasn't sure if it was legal).
Although I really find this advert upsetting. Deeply upsetting.
Well it should make you feel guilty if you're not on the register, are you one of the 96% who would take a transplant? Where do you think it's coming from?
I have CF myself an i think that people that say this makes people feel guilty oviously dont realise the seriousness of the lack of organ donation .
Im in hospital at the moment sorrounded by people that need transplants .
Until youve been in the situation or you know someone who is in desperate need of a life saving transplant you wont realise how much the kindness of another person means ..
Its not a guilt trip its reality for thousands of people .
as some of my cousins have CF and will eventually need a transplant so i think i kind of understand what you are going through because of them so good luck from me :)
