  • I find it strange how I feel like a transition to a man is pretty cool yet I find a transition to a woman weird . I dunno.

  • hopefully everything works well

  • what college are you at?

  • The thing is, my dad doesn't accept gay people in general...he just refuses to admit that I like girls. We have kind of a "don't ask, don't tell" policy at my house, and has told me to never mention girls.

I don't know if I'll be able to wait three years, but I feel like if i want my parents financial support for school, that may be the only option.

  • @shawno315 Fathers tend to be less accepting of it unless they were around it a lot. My mom knew since I was a kid Id be gay. But shes told me up front that if I wanted to go through the procedure and get T and the surgery, to make sure I lived far away or she was dead. I think for parents its hard to hear that their little girl/boy truly believes they are the opposite of what they were born to be. My mom is my main support, its the only thing stopping me from going FTM.

  • I vote grad school. I mean, depends on what you're studying and whether it makes sense, I suppose--and it's still a wait. But it gives you more time to transition before you have to find work--and if you have a graduate assistantship, you'll probably be financially independent + have some health insurance coverage, at least for stuff like a therapist and blood work.

  • Thanks :)

I think the only give-away is my voice, but even that, I believe, is kind of deep for a biological female [even though it's also extremely monotone and sarcastic-sounding at times].

  • nice hat yo! i'm a former pittsburgher though avoided most of the teamwear...

yeah money sucks sucks sucks. don't let it get you down too bad...life goes on.

  • I hate the economy, Im trying to get money so I can get T also. But my mom knows Im trans and she might pay for my T, hope everything goes well with you!

    Cody

  • that's awesome that she might pay for your T! my parents aren't as accepting of the LGBT community as a whole, so they don't even know about my transition issues [they just think that I'm a really butch lesbian]

  • I hope my mom can pay for my T, if not them Im screwed haha.
