I dont know about the Secret but Napoleon Hill proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, as did Andrew Carnegie that there are what they called "success principles", and when these are followed, goals are reached, miracles happen. When they are not, it is guaranteed failure or partial failure.
I think the problem is a lack of specifics, i.e. people grab the Secret and add a few principles to an otherwise good system of operating and viola, they see results, most likely they were unkowingly acting on other principles in addition to the new ones, the mixture became complete.
Others need to know those specifics because when they pick up the Secret and try to apply it, they will be mostly unsuccessful. To sum it up, the Secret is incomplete and filled with too much fluff that is distracting.
John Norcross is complete dumbass; I really wonder how these people get to argue something they know nothing about. He is your typical psychologist with the American Psychology Association Degree. He has only been taught what they think is right. It took Erickson years after he was dead before his articles were published by APA. Because someone decided they were right. i've never seen this good a debate for very long, and i have learned much more by reading through the comments. i'm sure everyone would agree that either positive thinking or action is useless without the other - acting without a positive mindset or motivation is hard work, while positive thinking without action = laziness. i myself can testify to the power of positive thinking coupled with action as i have repeatedly benefited from using this combination at school and at work. however...
i would have to agree with the psychologist, as Mr. Ray's argument is flawed: to paraphrase one earlier commenter, "corelation does not imply causation." in other words, what works for a few "cases" may or may not work for everyone else. Not everyone who comes to Mr. Ray telling him about how the secret has worked for them are not all that have bought his book, so no one should assume that it works for all kinds of people in making all their dreams come true or get through all sorts of problems
just because "the principles are 100% effective it is almost impossible to measure because you cant monitor a person thoughts, feelings and imagination (the application of the principles),,,,name one achievement that was conciously successful with out first believing it was possible! betcha cant doi it!

Sounds like you are having doubt about your one million. The secret says that nothing can happen instantly, therefore, you really have to wait for your one million, maybe on the day you die.
It always works for me. I understand that sometimes things work slowly for me, but It works for me. Maybe I am just very good at it? Honestly, has too many affirmations board stick on the wall. I think it's stupid that people are bringing up the starved and victimized people in their debate. Exactly what is it that they're doing about it?. Do they not beleive in god too? Regardless of what anyone thinks, we all live by what we individually believe in. When I first read the book and watched the documentary I already was living my life by it to a certain extent. There were new things I had learned but generally I grew up believing that "What you believe will be". That's pretty much the sum of what The Secret is trying to tell everyone. If you believe The Secret isn't true then it won't be. Just like the many religions around the world. It's like a religion.
No one knows what is true, and I'm not pushing my belief that what you believe will be, but when I go "Home" I'll feel comfortable looking forward to what I've believed in all my life being true and so will you. Whatever beliefs anyone has is what they'll obviously live by and who's to say that it doesn't work for them. Just like how you can wake up each morning and decide whether you want to be happy or not. You have that power to be able to react positively to anything that comes your way.

"If I just think about it really hard I'll get that brand new car'' or "My dream spouse will show up and sweep me off my feet if I just wish hard enough for it". forgive me but you need to actually DO something besides sitting around in your room and meditating for half an hour while life and REAL oppurtunities pass you by.

Thats Psychologist is the biggest idiot ever! Thoughts do create reality. Example I suffered for over a year with severe depression and anxiety...All triggered by one thought.."I am going to die" that in turn led to my job loss then losing my cars I became a agoraphobic. The moment I told myself NO i will not go out like that and began to see myself healthy 3 months later I was completely fine no medication nothing Just the change in my thoughts. I've never read The Secret, but I've studied success/fulfillment strategies for a long time. I've also tried out many techniques and talked to a lot of people who've used different techniques. The conclusion I'm coming to is this: Different techniques work for different people, and it seems to be strongly related to belief. For me, only hypnosis produced rapid, permanent and profound results, probably because I believed it would work. (Darn, 500 characters is too short.)

Didn't you understand yet that god is source where all the energy comes from. I dont know about the Secret but Napoleon Hill proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, as did Andrew Carnegie that there are what they called "success principles", and when these are followed, goals are reached, miracles happen. When they are not, it is guaranteed failure or partial failure.

I think the problem is a lack of specifics, i.e. people grab the Secret and add a few principles to an otherwise good system of operating and viola, they see results, most likely they were unkowingly acting on other principles in addition to the new ones, the mixture became complete.

i would have to agree with the psychologist, as Mr. Ray's argument is flawed: to paraphrase one earlier commenter, "corelation does not imply causation." in other words, what works for a few "cases" may or may not work for everyone else. Not everyone who comes to Mr. Ray telling him about how the secret has worked for them are not all that have bought his book, so no one should assume that it works for all kinds of people in making all their dreams come true or get through all sorts of problems

When "the secret team" is saying if you wish hard enough...yadda yadda, they're getting you to concentrate on what you want, but theres steps to follow after to make it happen.The world of thoughts out there has made a big diff, good and bad. If we were all on the same frequency of thought..wouldn't that be amazing.

Regardless of what anyone thinks, we all live by what we individually believe in. When I first read the book and watched the documentary I already was living my life by it to a certain extent. There were new things I had learned but generally I grew up believing that "What you believe will be". That's pretty much the sum of what The Secret is trying to tell everyone. If you believe The Secret isn't true then it won't be. Just like the many religions around the world. It's like a religion.

No one knows what is true, and I'm not pushing my belief that what you believe will be, but when I go "Home" I'll feel comfortable looking forward to what I've believed in all my life being true and so will you. Whatever beliefs anyone has is what they'll obviously live by and who's to say that it doesn't work for them. Just like how you can wake up each morning and decide whether you want to be happy or not. You have that power to be able to react positively to anything that comes your way.

In my opionion the secret is selfish the whole concept of the law of attraction is selfish. "If I just think about it really hard I'll get that brand new car'' or "My dream spouse will show up and sweep me off my feet if I just wish hard enough for it". forgive me but you need to actually DO something besides sitting around in your room and meditating for half an hour while life and REAL oppurtunities pass you by.

Yes you need thoughts, feelings, visualizations AND actions, and believe it will work, to find what your looking for. In contrast, if your not looking for something, it may be right in front of you, but you dont see it cause you dont want/need to see it.

There is NO SUCH THING as THE LAW OF ATTRACTION as taught by The Secret. This law is distorted by obvious con men who just awnt to make money. Esther Hicks - cult leader of The Law of Attraction as taught by Abraham - spirit guide. She says that a severed arm can grow back if you think hard. This is a joke, and a lie. It also blames the victim. The same book says that slavery and genocide was caused by their own victim's (right in the book).

I think this Rev is a con man. Im sure he has no clue what a "sub atomic" level is. THese people use quasi science and plain misdirection to sell books, expensive seminars and market other quacks so they could market their own seminars (like Proctor, Saveli, Quantum Touch junk, Esther Hicks who talks through angels but can't answer a single questions an angel would know, etc.). I'm so sad that people can't see an obvious gimmick.

I read a book yesterday and it said there is no truth, everything is the truth. Our universe is only a model of the whole universe. Of course a rat has very different reality then an elephant. and every discussion about whether the secret is true or not is decided by THE person only.

The secret is about attachment. it wont work for you if you have kharmic debt. if you have to pay a kharmic debt due to stealing from others in former lives then you wont get the lotto no matter how strongly you belive in the secret.
if you are attched to money like i am you wont receive wealth untill you no longer want it , we were ment to enjoy the toys of the world but not become attched to them

they are so both expert that they disagree, so perhaps they cant both be experts . mans biggest mistake was to believe that science could explain things . like global warming , experts predict the world is being destroyed and choked, but thats because they feel seperated from god.

Thats Psychologist is the biggest idiot ever! Thoughts do create reality. Example I suffered for over a year with severe depression and anxiety...All triggered by one thought.."I am going to die" that in turn led to my job loss then losing my cars I became a agoraphobic. The moment I told myself NO i will not go out like that and began to see myself healthy 3 months later I was completely fine no medication nothing Just the change in my thoughts. It does take action though.

I've never read The Secret, but I've studied success/fulfillment strategies for a long time. I've also tried out many techniques and talked to a lot of people who've used different techniques. The conclusion I'm coming to is this: Different techniques work for different people, and it seems to be strongly related to belief. For me, only hypnosis produced rapid, permanent and profound results, probably because I believed it would work. (Darn, 500 characters is too short.)

Didn't you understand yet that god is source where all the energy comes from. Learning the secret is learning how to chanel direcly to that source of energy so you can attract any results you want in your life. Money and health are only results. Work on you mindset people.
