Mac's are nice computers I'm sure but I'm curious why they cost so much.

I mean a 15.4 Macbook Pro is $2,000. A HP or Dell, or Sony with the same performance specs is about $800.

I honestly don't get why Apple charges so damn much for their computers.

Macs are expensive because they want to stay exclusive. It may not give them as much of a customer base as they could get, but this way they don

t have to keep competing with Sony, Dell, HP, etc. Plus, if they made a line of "cheap Macs" it could be like when Mercedes made their cheap cars, which were nicknamed "poor man Mercedes". This way Apple stays exclusive to a wealthier customer base. Hope this answers your question!

because macs software is better. they dont get very much viruses. and their batteries are superb. like my sony vaio... i hate it. it has 512MB of ram which i think is BS. the standard macbook comes with 2GB of RAM. and they are unibody. so they are just 1 piece of aluminum unlike PCs which usually come in multiple pieces of plastic. windows vista had many problems and windows 7 i bet has stole alot form OSX leopard. plus macs are just sexy.. so yea lol

And if your Sony has 512MB of ram it is probably 3-4 years old and only cost $500.

I've been pricing laptops and a Sony with everything better than the Mac Pro is $750 cheaper. With double the ram, bigger hard drive, and a better processor.

I have been researching this and there is literally no reasoning behind the Mac's higher price.

Meh...I'm sure they are good machines but for the price, no thanks.
